VR Chat Program
NOTICE: Victory Road no longer has an official chat. Annoyed by using the chatroom on the forum? Tired with dead refreshing? The chat is a downloadable executable for usage on Windows 2000 and up, programmed by yours truly (Cat333Pokémon) and KingOfKYA. Windows: .NET Framework 2.0 and/or 3.5 is required: 3.5: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...1-508d977d32a6 Newest Versions: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netf...k/default.aspx It may not work if you only have a newer version installed. At this time, you need 3.5 if you want to use it. 4.0 alone may not work. Some releases may work with 2.0. Linux: Mono and Wine are required: http://www.mono-project.com/Download http://www.winehq.org/download/ I can't get it to work, but you can try. Still working on the native version, though! Current Feature Set - Retrieving latest posts (30 for now) -- Posts are shown in order with the newest at the bottom -- On refresh, the scrollbar is put at the bottom -- If no new posts are available on refresh, nothing will happen - Automatic refreshing to get newest messages - Posting messages (as guest) - Sound on new messages after refresh (optional via easy to access checkbox) -- Custom sound options - Adjusting time/date to meet any time zone - Functional "Register" button - Logging in -- "Remember me?" checkbox -- Automatic login ability (suggested by OMGITSJAD) - Some formatting -- Bold, italics, underline, strikethrough -- Colors -- Font faces -- Retained through messages, kept on close - A custom icon: Floatzel (suggested by OMGITSJAD) - Resizable window - /me - Some easy links like rules and affiliated sites - Window size retained -- Moderation Read below for more features. BETA 9.5 DOWNLOAD: http://chat.victoryroad.net/vrc9.5.exe Version Changes Pre-Alpha 0 - Connects to the database - Retrieves newest posts Alpha 1 - Posts as guest - Logs in with username, only supports names with letters, numbers, and several symbols - Gets new posts in plain text - Sound updates - Time zones to offset GMT Beta 2 - Uses much more secure protocol to prevent database hacking - First public version - Post as user - Logs in with user number (see your profile URL), doesn't support passwords with several characters - Encrypted password - Automatic login ("Remember me?") - Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, and color formatting - /me - Unique program icon (Floatzel) Beta 3 - Fixes HTTP Error 417 caused by caching - Does not display "underlying connection" errors (which are unnecessary). Beta 4 - Persistant styles - Font selections - /me bug fixed - One-character bug fixed - Custom sounds - Added some handy links - Fixed a couple mini-bugs - Now displays a message if you do the login wrong - Window size retained - Entrance message Beta 5 - Increased size of text box - Minor bugs fixed with INI files Beta 6a - Complete rewrite of PHP coding, optimized for significantly less server load - Date on/off removed - Auto-refresh renamed "Pause" and functionality reversed - Moderation menu (non-functional) - Topic setting - Room skeleton (postable but non-viewable) - Help menu re-arranged - Running on Windows startup functional with Undo option - Total post count in corner - Colored username to match forum status with correct formatting - Formatting from forum chat preserved and used - Forum smilies appear correctly - Exit message - Changed entrance message - Login with username - Can be kicked - Fixed banned tag bugs - Automatic time zone setting (based on internal time) - Forum ban - Censor Beta 6b - Fixed minor save bugs - Removed extra fonts Beta 6c - Fixed font dropdown problem Beta 7.0 - Due to piracy with beta 6, beta 7 incorporates authentication system to only allow users with permission to use it - Nicer status bar for topic and post count - Room pop-ups gone Beta 7.1 - Optimized coding Beta 7.2 - Functional kicking menu - Functional rooms - Sound only pings for current room Beta 7.3 - Kicking bug fixed (now only mods can kick) - Topic changing limited to mods Beta 8.0 - Link to chat archive - Run on Windows start asked on first run - Functional deletion (mods only) - Character counter for textbox (characters remaining) Beta 8.1 - Users online list - Delete causes refresh Beta 9.0 - Links open with default browser - Clicking the post icon asks about deleting the post (mods only) - Fixed one-character bug - Added quick shortcuts to Crystal Islands Pokédex and Bulbapedia - Added nicer kick messages (including who performed the kick) - Merged VR Gym League and its posts into Tournaments - Used Future for Serious Business room - FZN&CI renamed to Staff Beta 9.1 - Tournaments merged into Wi-Fi - (closed) renamed to **** - Fixed spelling mistake: "Exlclaim" > "Exclaim" - Percent codes (such as %20 becoming a space in URLs) now are retained as percent codes instead of being decoded into characters. This especially fixes links. - VictoryBattles link added - Mekahz link removed - Pokédex link updated - Archive link updated - View Top Posters link added - Posting moved to a background process, so it runs faster after making a post Beta 9.2 - Fixed bug where window wouldn't scroll to bottom on new post - Automatic login option if login expires, keeps Remember Me state Beta 9.3 - Fixed flood of "Incorrect password" and other boxes - Lead Administrator group is considered staff - Content Staff can change topic Beta 9.4 - Userlist perpetually displayed, reordered alphabetically - Double-clicking a name in the userlist will prompt for kick (staff only) - Rooms reordered and placed in a list instead of tabs - All rooms with access are checked for new messages and highlighted red if new messages come in - Sound option to make noise on all rooms instead of just selected one - "Loading *room name*..." message when switching rooms Beta 9.5 - Fixed bug where Pause box doesn't stop checking other rooms or updating userlist - Fixed problem with closed room Beta 9.6 - Private release - Added RP room for **** Beta 9.7 - Personal release for chat moderators - Allows chat moderators to moderate Beta 9.8 - Fixes bug where **** RP room does not highlight on new messages - Adds additional room titled "lulz" RC 10 - Added splash screen - Fixed another problem with closed room - Redid room selector - Added room manager - Support dropped Last edited by Cat333Pokémon; May 24, 2014 at 01:18:35 AM. Nice, It'd be as simple to use as something like *****, however may I suggest a insta log-in option, like MSN Messenger? I think the chat would be more livelier with an insta log in and just clicking the logo to start it up.
(also, a little buizel icon as the logo, and when your bar is minizied and you get new messages, the buizel starts moving and uses a very low volume version of it's call to alert you about said messages :3) *gets neck broken by Valory for using...THAT FACE...!!!* Last edited by OMGITSJAD; February 5, 2010 at 08:44:24 AM. |

No, The chat program is just an optional feature for users who aren't on a DS or Wii, the normal chatbox will stay intact, and that's how Wii or DS users can chat.

I don't really see how useful it'd be on the Wii, but it'd be cool as a DS application because I could have my DS with me while doing something else. Not that either is likely, but they're neat ideas. I can't wait for Chat333Pokémon. Yes, I just edited the post to insert my name for it. Last edited by piexing; February 7, 2010 at 06:20:23 PM. Progress: login is now possible. The server now makes appropriate responses.
However, due to severe recoding, getting messages and posting messsages are not yet possible. Last edited by Cat333Pokémon; February 8, 2010 at 02:37:52 PM. |

The moderator is a n00b! lulz.
Click your username and look in the address bar. You'll see with a number at the end of the equal sign. Whichever number is there is your User ID# and should be used as your login on the chat program. |

Okay, the chat software will have a required update soon. The 417 errors, while odd, are being caused by the Squid caching. Just use the one at the top of the forum for now.
(Serious folks, please bear with me. This stuff is not easy!) |

Might be. Again, it's an IE frame embedded so it might be a bit of work. It's not a high priority at this point.
The program was on standstill while KingOfKYA was testing stuff. However, because he abandoned the test project, work will resume. |

Why the heck are you so pent up on having a kick feature? Nobody causes trouble in the first place on the chatbox anyways, and like Yoshi said, you can just put warnings toward their profile in on the main forum. >_>

Can I suggest something 2 things to be added? If so...
1.Maybe a drop down menu that may include things like (View Profile, Private Message) 2. As for the Private Message thing, maybe like a tab system on the top of the program? (That of course is used for Private Messaging, or maybe other stuff) |

(Well like, you click on the side and then a list of emotes show up Like- etc. 4.Copyright notice on the bottom of the program Last edited by Buizel456; March 13, 2010 at 09:48:11 PM. |

ATTENTION
Due to illegal filesharing from beta testers without my permission, Beta 6 is CANCELLED. Now we will be waiting for Beta 7. Thank you, Pikaluv1 ("Jawsh") and zsaberslash. OMGITSJAD was only joking and didn't actually send it. |

Cat, I'm sorry if I offend you, but as of now I don't care. I have no future here to look forward to other than how I am now.
Here it goes. You're being immature. So what if 3 other users went on the program? What gives you the right to publicly humiliate them like this? I only have a basic understanding of programming and servers, but I do know that there's barely any way that this could have changed the results for the worst, if that's what you're peeved about. I also know that Josh, Zsaber and I deeply regret what we did. Isn't that enough for you? The damage (Whatever there is of it) has already been done, and it can be fixed. Furthermore, there is fault on your part. With my 5 minute experience with the program, I can see that it should be stable enough for release(Correct me if I'm wrong!). You've also been teasing us with stupid prank links disguised as Beta 6 downloads. How can you blame us for growing impatient? I've said all I can for now. Ban me if you will, I don't care anymore. This is just getting rediculous even to me. |

Pikaluv1 (Josh) agreed not to distribute the program:

The program is significantly far from release. The rooms can be posted in, but you cannot see what you're doing. Also, the moderation menu doesn't work, and there are still bugs riddled all over the place. As for the RickRoll links and stuff, that was mostly KYA having fun. I did participate a little, but it was all harmless. It doesn't matter anymore though. I'm just annoyed that people went behind my back. Besides, Beta 7 has a whitelist and calls out if anyone tries to share it. |

... Uh...
Tch, how many times has Josh's fail grammar/spelling/etc. gotten him into such shenanigans? Anyways, the progress with the chat program is coming along great, considering that B4 was out for a while before B6 was in testing/illegal distribution. And now B7 is on its way, too. |

Due to numerous severe security risks encountered with various versions of Beta 7, the next release will be Beta 8. When that occurs, Betas 6 and 7 will become inoperable to patch these holes. When RC 9 is out, all beta versions will be disabled.
6.0-7.2 bugs: Anyone can change topic 7.2 bugs: Anyone can kick anyone using Beta 6 or 7. I will not reveal the worst bug until 8 is out. |
