Default Pokémon Ranger - The Titans of Sinnoh!

This is my first RP thread, and I hope it succeeds. Before anything, I want to admit that this is not my idea. There used to be a thread like this in a forums I was in and left years ago. I am copying the basic idea, but I will be adding my touch to it.

What is this game about?
As it is already known, rangers are those who protect nature and Pokémon. In this thread, you can register yourself and become a ranger. With this, you will be assigned missions from the leader, and it is your job to accomplish this mission. What is so special about this mission is the freedom the player receives in developing his own plot. No one has to stick to a definite plot, but just stick to the title of the mission.

Where is our Ranger Headquarter?
Our HQ is in Sinnoh, and to be more precise, it is in Jubilife City, which is known of its advancement. Our HQ is a huge tower that is next to the GTS.

How can I become a ranger?
Just post here with details about your character and your party Pokémon. Name, age, etc. Please be aware that you can have one partner only. It can only be in its basic form. No legendary Pokémon are allowed. The Pokémon of Unova aren't allowed until we know their English names. Oh, and avoid having shiny partners. It is just too cliché. Just fill up the form below:
Quote:
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Characteristics:
Partner Pokémon:
Partner Pokemon nickname:
Partner Pokemon gender:
Are there any ranks?
Definitely! As you proceed in doing missions, you will be getting higher ranks. Obviously, that means that harder and more exciting missions will be assigned.
Here is the rank list:
Quote:
Title - Rank of Missions - Characteristics
Newbie Ranger - U Rank Missions -
Rookie Ranger - E, D & C Rank Missions - You achieve this rank after finishing 1 mission only.
Normal Ranger - D, C & B Rank Missions - You achieve this rank after finishing 3 missions. You can have 2 partners now.
Great Ranger - D, C & B Rank Missions - You achieve this rank after finishing 7 missions.
Ultra Ranger - C, B & A Rank Missions - You achieve this rank after finishing 10 missions. You can now access the storage field where you store a partner there. It allows you to have a third partner now.
Master Ranger - B & A Rank Missions - You achieve this rank after finishing 15 missions.
Adminstrator - Any kind of mission - You get chosen by the Lead Admin. You can now assign people missions.
Lead Admin - Any kind of mission - The boss, and it is me.
Are there any rules to be followed?
Few, only.
~When you are posting a mission, make sure you divide the mission into more than one post, with 2 posts at minimum.
~You can't double post. If you want to continue your mission, you have to wait until another person has posted, then you can go on posting.
~You can only play with your character. You can't play with other characters. An Administrator might use your character just for a minor role, like accepting your mission.
~You can plan with another ranger(member) to share the same mission, making a better story.
~If you aren't assigned any mission, then you can create your own story, like you went to train and something happened.
~You must respect everyone in this base.

"Garrett! Kakugo! Welcome to this ranger base! I assume that both of you are familiar with the objective of our base, aren't you? I can sense strong Pokémon too. Well then, I have a mission for each one of you. It will improve your skills as Newbie Rangers."

I accessed to the mission board and found two U-ranked missions. I realized that these two are good to test the ability of these new rangers. I went to Garrett and gave him this mission:
Quote:
Title: Help out Jim!
Description: "My son, Jimmy, went to Lake Verity to play soccer. While he was there, he sent me a message asking for help, since three to four Starly attacked him. Please help him, he is only six years old, and is defenseless against Pokémon!
Location: Sinnoh, Lake Verity
Difficulty: U
When Garrett went with his Hariyama outside to proceed with his mission, I turned to Kakugo and gave him his mission:
Quote:
Title: Wurmple are everywhere!
Description: "This is me, Sandra from the Flower Shop in Floaroma Town! Today in the morning, we found tens of Wurmple covering our flowery fields and eating the berries we grew. We tried our best to get rid of them, but we couldn't. Please, we need some help!
Location: Sinnoh, Floaroma Town

Garrett looked at the request. "Piece of cake." he said, and marched off. "Don't worry about us," he called back. "We can take care of a few Starly." He silently left Jubilife and walked through route 101, practicing his captures with some Bidoof and Wurmple.

When he reached Lake Verity, he saw several small children being attacked be Starly. "You ready, Komamura?" he asked Hariyama. Komamura nodded and they promptly captured the Starly without any trouble. Then he noticed something sweet-smelling. He asked the group, "Which one of you is Jim?" One child, obviously threatened by Garrett's enormous stature, slowly stepped forward.

Garrett put an arm on Jimmy's shoulder and said "I'm sure those Starly didn't mean harm. I bet they just smelled those granola bars you had in your pocket. You might want to give them a little bit. They'd appreciate that." he then walked away after being thanked by the children and returned to the base. "I could get used to this." he muttered to himself.

It seems to me that you haven't read the rules thoroughly. I specifically said that a mission should be at least 2 posts. I understand that it can be a bit of confusing, therefore, for everyone who thinks to join, I want you all to read a mission I did long ago and I had saved. It is the very first mission I did.
The mission was about investigating a ghost. Can you please redo your mission, but in a suitable way?

After viewing both of the missions, I decided to choose the Rank E mission as I wanted to try harder jobs, therefore, I went along with Aura to Azelea Town in order to investigate about that mysterious creature. It took us 1 complete day to reach the town as it is bit far away from our HQ, however, I was able to reach at noon. The town was a complete crap! Everything was damaged and destroyed, it seemed as if a gang was trying to destroy the town itself, but the people there assured that they saw a creepy shadow wandering around and causing all these troubles. After hearing their stories about this thing, I decided to start picking up my tools that I am going to use and prepare myself for a long chase, and that’s what I did indeed. I also realized that I need to take a comfortable nap so that I don’t fall a sleep during the chase, and therefore I head to the Poke Centre where I stayed until dusk. Soon after the sunset, night arrived and the silence surrounded the town. It was a small town so people there go to sleep early, and with this troublesome thing, they went to their homes at dusk! Not so long after that, I heard some noises, and thus my adventure began…

Quote:
I ran as quickly as I can to the destination of the noise, and there was a big surprise! Two hands were breaking the sign in front of the Poke Market freely without a body! I was freaked out! What in the world can this be?! However, my partner Aura was brave enough to force me to be courageous as any ranger should be and immediately he attacked the two hands with Cross Chop, yet it missed, as the two hands were ghostly! That disappointed us a lot, but we didn’t lose hope at all, as Aura used Crunch which hit and caused serious trouble for the two hands. The ghost was badly damaged and therefore I knew that Dark moves are going to be super effective against him, and he knew that too, therefore he showed his body, which was only a head, and fled, and of course I followed him too! It was all black so I couldn’t recognize the identity of the ghost, however, I continued my chase. The ghost head to the wood nearby the town and there he was stuck. He couldn’t find a place to flee and his ghostly tricks didn’t work on me anymore, and then a big surprise astonished me, Aura and the ghost! A sudden flash appeared in the sky and the whole darkness disappeared, and then, Astonishment was used to hit the ghost, who appeared to be a Pokémon named Haunter! I leered at the one who hit Haunter and it was a boy with two Pokémon; Pichu and Zubat! He wanted to catch that Haunter and therefore he started attacking him with Thunder Shock and Astonishment. Haunter seemed weak and sad and therefore I decided to help him, and Aura agreed for sure! Aura used Bullet Punch along and Cross Chop to get rid of Pichu who was easy to defeat, but that Zubat was difficult and especially with his Wing Attack which was super effective against Aura. I was afraid of seeing Aura defeated, but thanks to God, I got a help from the Pokémon I tried to save! Yes! It was Haunter who used Psychic against Zubat and knocked him out and forced the boy to run away with his fainted Pokémon! After that, Aura and Haunter talked to each other, and from what Aura told me, Haunter was getting bored and he wanted some friends to play with. Unfortunately, I don’t know any place where I can keep him, and therefore I got him with me to keep him in the HQ until I find a good place for him with other ghost that he can play with, so I hope to agree Sir, and to search for a place where I can keep him with other ghosts.
This was my first mission. Later on, my missions started to become really lengthy. So, take this as an example and do your missions according to that. Add some enthusiasm to it.

Double post because the first one was for announcements. This one is regarding the game. Please read the RP I displayed as an example.

I realized the great amount of rangers, who decided to join the HQ. I was surprised, and in no time, I realized that accessing the mission board on my own and retrieving the missions to match specific rangers is no longer possible. I decided, therefore, to get all the U-ranked missions and post them, allowing the rangers to choose what they want. It was more of a who-gets-it-first. However, I made sure that the amount of missions were enough to suit all.

Quote:
Title: Prof. Rowan asks for help!
Description: "Hello Spirit. Last night's storm has caused a wreckage in my lab. Everything is in disorder. I need someone to help me in making my lab back to service soon. I am also worried that I smell something strange. I couldn't realize what it is due to the mess, and I am afraid to find something I can't handle. I really need a ranger just in case.
Location: Sinnoh, Sandgem Town
Difficulty: U (Can be an E if the source of the smell is dangerous)
Note: If for some reason the ranger isn't able to deal with this mission on his own, make sure to contact the HQ for support.
Quote:
Title: Deliver the package
Description: "Hey Spirit! I am Gardenia. I am in the condition of rearranging my gym. I need someone to deliver the shoots that were sent to you last night. The road between Oreburgh City and Eterna City is blocked due to the rock slides that occurred yesterday during the storm. The package must be delivered through Eterna Forest. Oh! Make sure that the one who is coming is familiar with Grass Pokémon, since the Roselia in the forest are attacking anyone who passes through. They might be a trouble."
Location: Sinnoh, Eterna City
Difficulty: U
Quote:
Title: Let us DIG OUT!
Description:" 'ello! I'm from da Coal Mine in Orebur'. Roark has asked us all to help in removin' da rocks dat are blockin' da road between us and Eterna! Leader Byron is helpin' as well. We need at least three rangers to help us out. dere have been a lot of Geodude and Onix attacking us. They are in tens that not even Leader Roark and Byron are capable of fighting them all. And HEY! A Ponyta is now trapped under da rocks. We noticed it, but the Pokémon of the leaders are too strong that we're afraid to move da rocks and kill the pony! We need your help in removing it! Hurry UP!
Location: Sinnoh, Route 206
Difficulty: U
Note: I want three rangers to agree on joining up and help in this mission. Two will help in removing the rocks and fighting off the Pokémon, while the third needs to save that Ponyta. Discuss the mission privately and report it here.
"I wish you all a good luck rangers! Report back soon, and follow the rules of reporting!"
After that, I went to my room to check out that letter I received lately.

Shinrin, without a word, walked forwards and inspected the three missions. He carefully analyzed the missions, ruling out the ones he wasn't confident about. He didn't want to get involved with something dangerous at Professor Rowan's Lab, and the teamwork mission at Route 206 was something he wouldn't do well because of his diffident nature. He then looked at the Eterna City mission, and smiled subtlely. It was the perfect job for him. He turned around and out the door, carrying the bag of shoots like described in the mission, with his partner Pokemon Sakura the Cherrim in close pusuit.

Walking slowly, Shinrin took step by step on the moist, muddy ground. Sakura, whose pet peeve was getting dirty, sat tentatively on Shinrin's shoulder. Shinrin, almost suddenly, looked over his free shoulder to make sure he wasn't being followed.

"Sakura, I want you to be careful on this mission," Shinrin whispered. "Roselia are going wild here, so in case I get into trouble, make sure you don't attack. I know you're a very powerful Pokemon, but I don't want you getting into any danger either." Sakura nodded.

As the two approached the Eterna Forest, the ground became more and more moist. Finding an indentation in a rock, he set down his bag of shoots for a moment and stretched his arm. He wanted to psych himself up so that he wouldn't fail the first mission he had ever done.

Going to pick up the bag of shoots again, he grabbed for open air. He looked at the indentation where the shoots were.

Nothing was there. In a panic, Shinrin spun around and did a double-take, almost throwing Sakura off his shoulder. He then looked at the enterance of the Eterna Forest. He noticed a Buneary making off with his shoots. As Shintin ran towards it, the Buneary became frightened and hopped off into the forest.

Shinrin ran through the forest, his feet making loud, squishy sounds with each step. Sakura held on helplessly, even wailing a little bit. Upon reaching the deep area of the forest, he found his bag of shoots, sideways on the soggy ground. He quickly grabbed the bag, inspected it to make sure none of the shoots had fallen out or had been taken by the Buneary. He stood up to continue the mission, but something was wrong. He felt his shoulder, realizing then that Sakura had fallen off at some point! Now panicking more than before, Shinrin retraced his steps, feeling like such a fool.

Fiona noticed a mission that was more up her street. The science lab disaster mission appealed to her. She did not like fighting at all, due to her attachment to Pokemon.

"I choose the lab mission," she spoke. "All right, David. This one is going to be a new thing for us. The person who needs help said a storm damaged his laboratory. I'll tell you now, since you're a water type. Stay away from any damaged wires. If you need to Water Gun something, make sure it doesn't get in any wall sockets. I'll show you what they look like when we get there. Labs use lots and lots of electricity and I'd hate for something to happen to you."

"Ok, don't touch the wires," David replied. "Anything else?"

Fiona recently taught David how to speak the human language. She knew that Pokemon could understand the human language, so she wanted to make life easier for both of them by teaching David.

"David...there's no telling what we'll find in there," Fiona continued. "Be careful, ok?"

"I will," answered David, smiling.

Fiona walked out of the Ranger HQ and proceeded for Sandgem Town, with David following her. It was a long walk, but when they finally reached Sandgem Town, they could sense a heavy atmosphere. Several people were gossiping about the recent disaster. She approached the group and asked,

"I got word that there's a damaged laboratory here. Do you know where it is?"

"It's right down that road, to the left of the shopping mall," replied a woman in a blue coat.

"Thanks," said Fiona. She walked fairly quickly to the lab, following the directions she was given. She arrived to see a rather large establishment that looked as if a small tornado struck. A team of scientists were testing the soil for chemical leaks. A news reporter was on the scene, talking about the damage and the strange smell that was coming from inside the building. Even Fiona could smell it. David didn't like it.

Fiona walked over to one of the scientists, talking with a man in a black suit.

"I heard that a storm struck and this laboratory suffered some damage," Fiona introduced. "I'm from the Ranger HQ and I'd like to help."

"Ah yes, we've been waiting for you," replied the scientist. He looked to be in his forties and was wearing glasses. He was quite slim. "My name is Prof. Rowan. As you can see, the storm itself did quite a lot of damage to the laboratory."

"The storm itself?" asked Fiona, raising an eyebrow. "You mean something else has gone amok?"

"Exactly," answered the professor. "The storm didn't just damage the outside of the building, but it started a chain reaction that almost destroyed the entire building."

"How did that happen?" asked Fiona.

"Well, we were already having electrical problems through out the lower half of the laboratory that day," began Prof. Rowan. "The lab's main power supply was malfunctioning, so we had to resort to a generator to restore the power. Well, a powerful gust of wind knocked a large tree precisely onto the generator. So, the power was fried. But being a laboratory of this kind, we need a lot of power."

The man in the black suit began to explain.

"The generator caused a lot of the wires in our laboratory to spark, or explode. One of the said wires exploded in a room that works with sensitive materials. In the same room, there were two storage tanks, containing sulfuric acid. Some sparks landed on a delicate mixture and caused an explosion. That explosion reached some flammable containers and they too exploded. The second explosion cracked one of the tanks and now sulfuric acid is leaking into the ground."

As this conversation was taking place, David was making a face, showing utter confusion. His eyes were squinted and his mouth was open and frowning at the same time. He thought it would be best not to say anything yet.

"Talk about bad luck," Rowan commented.

"Wow...that must have been quite a day," Fiona responded.

"The thing that I'm most worried about is the Sulfuric Acid," the black-suited man continued. "Below this lab is an underground river that leads directly to a cluster of lakes where a lot of people live. If the acid were to reach the lakes, it would poison the whole area. That smell in the air is coming from the Atmospherics Room, where they test lots of different gases. Most of them are harmless, but I don't know how they will react if they mix."

"Where do we fit in?" asked Fiona.

"Your mission is to stop the acid leak somehow," answered Prof. Rowan. "Head inside and I'll show you where you need to go."

The two men, Fiona, and David walked inside the laboratory. They stopped at what looked like a surveillance room.

Shinrin ran around for what seemed to be hours. He inspected every angle of the woods that he could imagine, but Sakura was nowhere to be found.

"My gosh," Shinrin muttered. "This first mission is turning out to be a disaster." He kept himself as calm as he could possibly be, and continued to walk around. He soon found himself walking in a straight path of grass with foliage on each side, with no diverging paths. He knew he had been here before in his search, but it was rather typical for Shinrin to search in the same place, as he often repeated actions when he was worried.

Soon enough, he heard a rattling sound. It was short, quick, and faint, but he heard its direction. Turning left, he peeked through a small bush, careful not to make any sounds. Leaving a little hole for his eyes to peek through, Shinrin saw Sakura being carried off by some Wurmple. Sakura appeared to be tied up by String Shot, thus left immobile. Shinrin pulled his head back quickly but without a sound and ran to the next diverging path, where he turned left and followed the path the Wurmple took.

After running for a little while, he caught up with the quickly moving Wurmple. Sakura squealed in delight that her master was here to save her, but Shinrin shushed her. Of course, all too late. The Wurmple had heard and were ready to attack. Shinrin, unlike most rangers, did not pull out his Styler, but he confronted them, unarmed. Shinrin slowly knelt down. The two Wurmple, startled, attacked with Tackle almost immedeately. Shinrin, hit, fell backwards onto the muddy ground. Sakura shrieked, but Shinrin continued to shush her.

"Sakura, I'm okay! Please, if you aren't quiet, you're going to provoke the-"

Before Shinrin could finish, the Wurmple, scared off by some sort of presence, fled into the bushes on the side of the path. Shinrin stood up, walked towards Sakura, and tended to untying the String Shot.

Before he could finish, three Roselia appeared out of the deep grass and attacked with Poison Sting. Shinrin, hit by the full brunt of the attack, fell again, but this time, he felt immobilized. But it was not new for him, as he had been hit by tons of Poison Sting attacks in his day. He stood up, trembling slightly, daring not to show pain. He looked at the disgruntled Roselia.

"Roselia, please, I understand you're afraid. There's nothing to fear from me. I'm here to help you out," Shinrin said, calmly. The Roselia, unconvinced, attacked again, this time with Magical Leaf. Again taking the full brunt of the attack, Shinrin collapsed. Pieces of his flannel tore at the edges of the Magical Leaf attack, and a small cut appeared on his face. He slowly got up again, still not showing pain.

"Roselia, please. I don't mean you any harm. I understand the pain and suffering your kind has felt, the hardships that you've had to endure. I've had to endure many hardships of that kind...pain, and hurt...physically and emotionally, Roselia, so please understand...that I understand...your..." Shinrin broke to tears, trying not to recall the horrible memories in his head. Terrible things had happened in his childhood, and he was too traumatized by it to ever speak of it to a human face.

The Roselia looked at each other, then at Shinrin. Shinrin wiped off his tears and looked intently at the Roselia. "I promise you, I won't do anything to hurt you. I only want to help."

The three Roselia looked into Shinrin's eyes, nodded, and beckoned for him to follow them. Smiling at the trust that had been formed, he picked up Cherrim, undid the rest of the String Shot, and followed the Roselia.

Matthew rushed to RHQ, feeling like he was very late to his first day on the job. As the doors whooshed open, he almost ran into another Ranger leaving for her mission, and almost fell over from dodging the girl and then promtly tripped over Břlt.
"Oww," He moaned, rubbing his head. "Why is it that whenever I do something like that, you are always in the perfect position to trip me?" Břlt just gave him an innocent look and meowed.
Sighing, the blue-ish haired boy walked over to the wall screen where the missions are posted, and noticed that there was only one beginner-level mission left, and it was tougher than even some of the D-ranked missions. Not even bothering to wait for anyone else who accepted/will accept the mission, he gets on his bike and rides off to the rockslide, his partner in the basket.

----

Arriving at the scene, one of the miners approached Matthew.
"Hey, you must be here to help with the rockslide. We set up camp over there." He motions south. "The most pressing issue now is the attacking Pokemon, even more than the trapped Ponyta. There are so many Geodude and other hostile Pokemon that anyone trying to help the Ponyta will be interupted. You should go help the trainers beat back the army."
With that advice, the young Ranger walked to the small battle and was confronted by an angry Geodude. After a few trys at Capturing it, he made a stunning realization- not only was the Pokemon here too enraged to be Captured, he was now surrounded by more Geodude and a Graveler!
Now he REALLY wished that he had waited for back-up.

The sun was beginning to set over the Eterna Forest. Shinrin had been following the Roselia for hours, and his legs were getting tired. Sakura, exhausted by the trip, fell asleep on Shinrin's shoulder, breathing slowly and sweetly. Shinrin smiled at the Cherrim; she was just as pure as the day Shinrin met and befriended her.

Soon enough, the group of Roselia came to a halt at diverging paths: one led to a garden in front of what appeared to be some sort of old manison, the other leading out of the forest. Shinrin smiled happily at the Roselia, said his thanks, and began to walk out of the forest.

However, the Roselia, almost in response to Shinrin's movement, interjected into Shinrin's way and glared angrily at him. Shinrin stopped walking, and knelt down to the Roselia.

"W-what's wrong? I-is there something you want me to do?" Shinrin asked. All of the Roselia pointed towards the old mansion. Shinrin trembled.

"N-no way. I-I'm not going in there," Shinrin stuttered. All of the Roselia began to advance on him now, their roses prepared to release a Poison Sting attack. Shinrin held his arms up in submission.

"A-all right, I'll go..." Shinrin said, standing up with his hands still up in the air. He slowly walked towards the mansion, the Roselia pushing and shoving behind him. Sakura woke up at the sudden pushing.

"Mrrrrrmmmmm..." Sakura moaned, staring peevishly at the pushing Roselia. Sakura jumped off Shinrin's shoulder and stood in the way of the group of angry Roselia. Shinrin immedeately realized the danger.

"S-Sakura, don't atta-" Before he could finish, Sakura took in the sunlight, and released a full power Solarbeam right into the group. A great explosion resulted, with Roselia flying at the force of impact here and there. Shinrin, greatly disheartened, grabbed the half-awake Sakura and ran away as fast as possible.

"Sakura, did I not tell you!?" Shinrin yelled as he ran from the Roselia that followed behind. Sakura held on tightly to Shinrin's arm, crying. Entering the mansion, Shinrin tried to close the door behind him, but to no avail, as the Roselia kept it open because of their close pursuit of him. Soon enough, the Roselia mob fired an onslaught of Poison Sting, each making contact with his back. He fell down, but he kept his arm up to make sure Sakura was not hurt.

"Che-Cherrim!?" Sakura shrieked, seeing Shinrin fallen on the ground. The Roselia mob store angrily at the fallen Shinrin and Sakura. Sakura, running around Shinrin, guarded Shinrin from further harm. Just like how they had met many years ago, when Shinrin was attacked by an Ariados.

"S-sakura..." Shinrin whispered. Sakura looked behind him, tears in her eyes.

"S-sakura...whatever you do, don't defend me...if you defend me, the Roselia will surely knock you out with their combined attacks...so please, flee...get as far away as possible...go to the HQ, if you have to...just don't let them take you..." Sakura hugged Shinrin's arm. Shinrin began to tear as well. "Your safety is greater...if you were ever hurt, I wouldn't know what to do...so please, just get...away..." Sakura simply held harder onto his arm. She dared not leave without Shinrin by her side, for it had never been that way since they met. The Roselia slowly advanced on them.

The Roselia charged their Poison Sting, until...

Note: In this RP, there are no stylus. You just attack a Pokémon using the moves of your partner(s). The Pokémon might befriend you then.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went into my room up in the top of the HQ. It was nearly midday. I went behind the desk, sat on my rotating chair and looked at the letter for a minute or so. I opened it reluctantly since I noticed that logo that was printed on the corner of the envelop. It was a letter sent by the senate of the Ranger HQ. I knew they needed something.

"Respected Lead Admin Spirit,
We have been checking the state of your Headquarters since we opened it and chose you as the leader. We noticed that in the beginning, there was no rangers in the Headquarters since it was newly opened. However, in the last few days, this Headquarters has started to live up again, which is keeping us pleased. After a lot of discussion, we concluded that by taking your age as an account, it is a must for you to have an assistant who can moderate this Headquarters with you. We respect your abilities, and we still see you as the Lead Admin, but an assistant is a must. Therefore, we are keeping you free to choose whoever you want to be your assistant, but take this as an official mission.
Your sincerely,
Pokémon Ranger Senate"

I was surprised with their sudden notification, but I had to do this mission no matter what. I took out the mission card that was kept inside the envelop with the letter.

Quote:
Title: To recruit an assistant
Description: "You are asked to recruit someone as your assistant in running this Headquarters."
Location: -
Difficulty: S
I looked back and gazed through the window at the street in front of the HQ. I saw my rangers heading out to their missions, and I decided to start with my secret-ranked mission.

I called for Blade, who arrived in no time using Teleport. With him on my shoulder, I headed outside my room and went down to the main entrance of the HQ. I noticed the new young girl who looked kinda shy. I went next to her and noticed her application of becoming a ranger. I smiled and introduced myself to her. It was a nice chit-chat. I guided her to the mission of Route 206, and asked her to go as a support and help out Matthew. Before leaving her, I presented the mission again to her just in case:
I, then, reminded her to plan with Matthew on how to solve this mission properly.

After that, I wished her a good luck and went outside the HQ, heading to Canalave City...

"Why did this have to happen today?!?" Dylan asked himself while running to HQ in Jubilife City. "Of all the days, why did my alarm clock not have to go off today?!"
He ran into the HQ, closely followed by Milotic. He stopped, and took a second to catch his breath. "Am I late?? Are there any missions left??" He looked at the mission board. "Is that the only one?" He thought to himself, and said, "I'll guess I'll help out with the rockslide."
He walked out of HQ, and made his way east to Oreburgh City.

After saying thanks to the lead Admin, Noelle looked at the mission again, absently scratching Eon's ears. "Route 206. Got it." She said quietly. She walked out of the HQ, and East towards Oreburgh City. As she left the city behind, Eon jumped out of her arms, and ran into the trees. Noelle laughed. "Not too far Eon!" She called after her partner. The little Eevee turned and ran back, jumping back into Noelle's arms. Noelle hugged her before setting her on the ground again. As she walked, she thought about the mission she'd been assigned. If the Pokemon are agitated, we'll need to calm them... And then we need to find the Ponyta... But if the Pokemon attack us when we're trying to free it... She was so distracted by her thoughts that she didn't pay attention to where she was going. Finally, she was pulled from her thoughts by Eon, who was nuzzling her. "What is it?" She asked her. Eon looked around. "Vee." It said, a bit worriedly. Noelle looked around. She had no Idea where she was. "Um... Where..?" She muttered. She was about to turn and try to backtrack, when she saw someone not far ahead. She approached him. "Excuse me, but which way is it to Oreburgh City?" She asked.

Matthew quickly came to a decision.
"Břlt, use Iron Tail and try to take out as many as you can!"

After several minutes of beating back wave after wave, it soon became apparent that fighting was a futile gesture.

"Hm? Oh, it's in this direction. I was going over there, if you want you could come along!" Dylan then noticed her uniform and said, "You must be a ranger! I am too, I just joined myself. I was headed over to the accident in Oreburgh. You must be too, huh?"

Noelle smiled and nodded. "I am." She replied. "I was going towards Route 206 to help, but I got lost." She looked down at Eon, who was following right beside her. "At least someone was paying attention." She remarked, smiling down at her partner. She looked back up. "I'm Noelle by the way. And this is Eon." She gestured to Eon, who'd jumped up into her arms again. "What's your name?"

Garrett was practicing his boulder-smashing when he noticed some odd noises. When he found the source, he saw a cool-looking guy with a Milotic tending to a Ponyta. A young girl and her Eevee were nearby fending off a small group of rock pokemon. "Oh, man, that doesn't look good." he mumbled. "Komamura, go up there and use your Arm Thrust on those pokemon! But don't hit the girl, or the Eevee!"

"Harii!" Komamura leaped up the slope and knocked several Geodude and Graveler off into the distance. Garrett ran up the slope and encountered the girl. "Need any help?" he asked.

Dylan looked at him and said, "I'm not sure if that would be a good idea, you would have to talk to the Lead Admin, Spirit." Dylan looked back at Noell, "My names Dylan, and this is Milotic. We should really hurry, who knows what could be happening.." Dylan turned around and started running towards route 206.

"Er... that guy seems to be quite the rule-pusher." Garrett said awkwardly. "I'm Garrett," he told the girl, "and, you know, I had nothing to do, since my mission was over quickly, so I figured I might help out some fellow rangers on their mission."

"Yama." Komamura agreed.

"Well, might as well get back to HQ, shall we?"

...some huge attack came up from above them! The Roselia mob was instantly neutralized by the attack, all knocked senseless. Shinrin, shocked by the sudden rescue, staggered his way up, dusted off his shoulders, and looked up at the second floor of the room. There stood a Roserade, but something was wrong.

The Roserade staggered back and forth, almost as if it had been weakened. The Roserade, just by looking at it, seemed to be in utter pain. Shinrin picked up Sakura and ran up the stairs, catching Roserade before it fell unconscious.

"Don't worry, fellow, I'll help you," Shinrin assured. Meanwhile, some of the Roselia mob was beginning to reform, and on sight of Shinrin and Sakura right next to Roserade, they went into an uproar and bolted up the stairs. Roserade made a loud, angry call at them, and they all seemed to stop in their tracks. Shinrin realized then.

"I see...you're their leader, huh?" Shinrin asked. Roserade nodded weakly. Shinrin caressed his fingers on Roserade's loose joints, feeling here and there. Shinrin felt around until he hit an arm joint that appeared to be rigid, and Roserade jumped in pain. Some Roselia ran up another step up the stairs, but Roserade, again, commanded them to stop. Feeling around the joint, Shinrin looked to Sakura.

"Sakura, I can't work with a rigid joint if it's hurting the Roserade. Use Aromatherapy to calm her down, alright?" Sakura nodded affirmatively, going to Roserade's head and placing her hands upon them. Using Aromatherapy, Sakura got Roserade to calm down, relaxing her muscles. Shinrin felt around the joint again, this time with no hinderance, and reattached the joint. With a little wince of pain, Roserade moved her arm freely about. She was cured, and Shinrin breathed a sigh of relief.

"I think I understand now," Shinrin said to himself. "The Roselia must have built clans in the trees and Roserade's their leader...you must have fallen off the tree due to the gusty winds of the storm and fallen on that arm joint. Since then the Roselia must have been protecting Roserade by attacking any oncoming strangers, hiding in the trees for their own safety..." But it wasn't over. Roserade was still very weak from the fall. Shinrin got his backpack, pulling out a few herbs, and put most back in his bag except for a long, stick-like brown herb with small black berries protruding from the sides. He offerred it to the Roserade, who accepted it willingly. Roserade crunched on the herb, making a face that appeared to be enjoyment. Shinrin was glad she liked it; it was an old family recipe for weak muscles.

Roserade stood up vigorously, calling for the Roselia to disperse. The Roselia mob looked at each other worringly, but nodded and filed out of the mansion. Roserade stretched her arm out in the direction of the door, making a gesture that allowed Shinrin to leave.

"Thanks, Roserade. I hope we meet each other soon!" Shinrin called, walking down the stairs and out the door.

It was now evening. The lights were beginning to illuminate as the sun set down on Eterna's horizon. Carrying the bag of shoots, Shinrin walked through the town, children looking admirably from a distance, mesmerized by their first sight of a real Ranger. Shinrin knocked on the doors of the Eterna Gym, which seemed to have been quite damaged from the storm. Gardenia soon opened the doors, and welcomed Shinrin inside.

"Thanks for bringing these over, I really appreciate it!" Gardenia thanked, bowing in gratitude. Shinrin blushed. "Th-there's no need to mention it, it was not big deal..."

"Huh? Is that..." came a voice from the other room. Gardenia and Shinrin both looked at the opening door, where a girl, about Shinrin's age, walked in. "Shinrin, is that you!?"

"Oh? You two know each other?" Gardenia asked. Shinrin, rather than replying with a nice smile like most of these sorts of conversations went, stood up and walked out the gym with an angry quip, "Oh, we know each other all right. More than I'd want to know." Sakura chased after him, while Gardenia, confused about the whole situation, said no more about it.

"I can't believe it..." Shinrin murmured angrily to himself. "No matter what I do, I can't escape the past...ever...but why...does she always pull me in? Why...she's like a black hole..." Though Sakura made attempts to calm him down, Shinrin kept walking.

He couldn't take his mind off of it, no matter how hard he tried. Arriving back at the HQ, he locked himself in his room, Sakura not inside with him, crying his heart out.

And no one could save him, because his heart was pierced by the past.

BIG Notice: This is Serious RP, not normal RP. Posts with few lines is not a good idea at all. I know this is your first time, bur for future references, extend your posts. I really like how you all are co-operating in this mission and is actually organised, but please, make your posts as long as GrassPokemonFTW's. The mission is only for 3. Therefore, I want you Idno58 to come back. Don't worry, there are more missions now.

It took me sometime to reach Canalave City. The river of Route 208 was over flooded, and that was a bit of a problem. Nevertheless, I was able to reach the city with the help of a fisherman who offered a ride on his small boat.

Without any hesitation, I hurried to the port of Canalave and took a ticked to Snowpoint City. Luckily, the voyage started ten minutes after booking the ticked, so I didn't have to wait for a long time.

While the ship was crossing the sea, I sat down thinking of what I was doing. I was sure that the rangers at my HQ are quite good and responsible, but I knew that they are all new and can't be chosen as an administrator without much experience. I looked at the vast blue sea and started remembering the past; my days in the Ranger Academy. It was him, definitely him, who would be able to take such a job.

The weather started to be cooler after an hour or so. Ice was forming and covering the sea. I went inside the ship and into my room. I got my coat and scarf, wore them, and went out again after few minutes upon the request of the Captain, who said that we were close enough to Snowpoint City.

As I expected, it was covered with a thick white crust of snow. The air was freezing cold that I started shivering continuously without any pause. I wondered for few minutes in the city, buying some hot chocolate for myself. It was surely a refreshing drink. After that, I went to the north, and specifically, to the Snowpoint Temple. He was there; that was my feeling.

When I entered, a flock of Zubat and Golbat surprised me, but thankfully, they did not attack. It was dark, but not to an extent where I could not see. I went down the temple carefully, trying not to slip on the ice paths that covered most of the floor. As I went further in, I noticed a piece of an old parchment stuck between a pile of ice rocks. I went close enough and took it out. It had some language I couldn't understand, but I felt it was useful, so I hid it in my bag. I didn't want anyone to know about it, just in case.

When I finally reached the bottom of the temple, I heard some sort of noise that echoed among the empty and silent walls of the temple. Blade reacted happily to the sounds, showing himself, finally, from under my coat. He jumped out and moved rapidly towards the center. I followed him and found a great statue that looked like a Pokémon, but it was definitely made out of rock.

"A Ralts? What is this thing doing here? He can't live in such cold places!"
"He is mine, came with me to fetch you."
"If it isn't that Spirit? What are you doing here, my friend?"
"I just told you; to fetch... who is this young pretty girl?"
"Hello, sir. My name is Emma. I am the assistant of the researcher Shadow."
"Nice name, and nice to meet you."

I smiled. Shadow looked surprised, but I was sure he was happy. We hadn't seen each other for three years.

"Shadow, I need you as my assistant in running the Ranger HQ. You are the most skilled ranger I know, after all, you were my rival."
"You know that I am more interested in mythology, don't you? Look here, I am researching about Regigigas. A lot of books say that Regigigass was lastly seen in this temple, and then disappeared. The only thing here is a statue of it, which was most probably built by a human."
"You are still that person who runs after legends. Well, I have a deal. If you become an administrator in my HQ, you will be provided with more capital and support to finance your research. You will have a lot of assistants as well. We won't stop your research, but will help you in improving it."

In the mean time, Blade was playing with Shadow's Eevee. While Emma was just standing there, listening to our conversation.

"Of course, Emma will come with you. She is studying Pokémon, isn't she? And you told me that she worked in the PokéCenter. She can be our nurse and internal researcher. What do you think?"
"Emma?"
"If you please, sir."
"Fine, I agree. I accept your offer."

I gladly called Blade back, and went outside with Shadow and Emma. We took the next trip to Canalave and headed back to the HQ. The only thing needed was for Shadow to register himself.

It was the morning after Shinrin's first mission, and he was feeling less than invigorated. He had gotten no sleep, especially since he was thinking about that incident he had when he delivered the shoots. His pillow was soaking wet with tears, and his hair was a mess. He couldn't even think anymore.

Shinrin, a few hours after he usually wakes up, opened the door and looked around the corner, with bloodshot eyes and deep sores. It seemed that the other rangers were either already awake or gone off somewhere. He looked at the base of the doorway, seeing Sakura sleeping on the wall, seeming so peaceful and content. Shinrin smiled enviously, but tears were falling again. He crouched down, patted Sakura on the head, whispering, "Sakura, you know how much I envy you...you're...such a lucky Pokemon..." Cherrim murmured. Shinrin felt happy that Sakura had waited outside his door, worried about him. Shinrin, leaving Sakura to sleep, walked to the Ranger bulliten board, which remained empty.

"Huh?" Shinrin wondered. He saw a little envelope on the board, addressed to him. He opened it up, reading the contents:

"To Shinrin,
Please meet me today at 12 noon, promptly. I have matters to discuss with you.
Signed, with best regards,
Yuri"

Shinrin, furious, smashed the letter under his palm, threw it on the ground, and stepped repeatedly on it. After a few minutes of desecrating the letter, Shinrin panted, crouched down, and sobbed.

"Why...why won't she stop tormenting me!?" Shinrin sobbed, his hands up to his face. He grabbed the crumpled piece of paper, ripped it apart, and threw it away. Sakura, woken up by the racket, walked up to the prostrate Shinrin and patted his back. Shinrin looked behind him, saddened.

"Sakura...I don't want you to become part of this mess...it's strictly reserved for those who understand..." He patted Sakura on the head, and stood up. Sakura looked quizzically at Shinrin. He looked at the dark storm clouds that remained from the storm, then looked at his hands, coarse and weak. And Shinrin knew it; he was too weak to resist her dark powers.

"Sakura, stay here. The...the black hole's pulling me in again."'

An email was sent to both Shinrin and Garrett notifying them with their new rank:

Quote:
Congratulations!
From now on, you are a Rookie Ranger. You can do E, D & C ranked missions!
Shadow went to his room to take a rest, while Emma visited her lab and then went to rest as well. The HQ was quiet, and that was disturbing. I thought that Shinrin would be in the HQ, but he wasn't, and that worried me a bit. However, the new missions that arrived on the mission board was more important that I had to forget about Shinrin and believe in him.

This storm has caused multiple trees to get uprooted and fall into the lake. The water has been noticed to be polluted as well. Many Pokémon live there, and we are afraid about their safety. It would be nice of you to help us in saving these Pokémon from near death. Thank you."

Title: Save us! It stinks!
Description: "Please! We are from Run & Get company that is allocated is Veilstone City. My two workmates and I are in the warehouse of the company. We were getting some machines for sports when we realized that we are trapped in the warehouse by a big Muk and two Grimer! They are blocking the way outside and we don't have anything to drive them off. We are dying here! The smell is poisonous and ugh!"
Location: Sinnoh, Veilstone City

After seeing those missions, I decided to go to Lake Valor and investigate about the polluted water, while hoping from the other rangers to do the other two missions.

Shinrin found himself in familiar territory, Eterna City, yet again, with children staring in awe at the ranger. He felt a little insecure without Sakura with him, but he figured it would be alright for one day. But what was he in store for was what he wondered. It would be the first time he talked to Yuri in a long time...

"Shinrin, over here!" a voice called. Shinrin broke from his zoning out and looked around the vicinity. He saw the same girl from yesterday standing near the Eterna Gym. Shinrin walked up to her, thinking, "No regrets, no turning back. If I can't face it now, then...then..." Shinrin stopped halfway. He felt his entire body just begin to shut down on itself, and begin an intermitant cycle of shaking.

"W-what's wrong with me...?" Shinrin thought, frightened by his sudden stop. But he knew it, and he couldn't fake it. He was still frightened by the past, and it still traumatized him. Yuri looked at him seriously, and yet worringly.

"Shinrin, are you all right? Do you need hel-" Yuri asked, putting her hand on his shoulder. Shinrin shook her arm off, almost pushing her, but he stopped himself. He breathed quickly, and his head felt like it was spinning. He was going mad by this entire ordeal.

"Shinrin, I can help, but you have to trust me..." Yuri said, sympathetically. Shinrin suddenly stopped shaking. He chuckled a moment, and then just burst out laughing. The passers-by were all mesmerized and frightened by the ongoing scene.

"T-trust!? TRUST!? I lost trust in you long ago, Yuri!" Shinrin screamed angrily. "I see your game...you're just trying to pull me into your circle, only to throw me out again! I see it! I see it all!" Yuri looked at the ground, somberly, then looked back at Shinrin again. Shinrin was emotionally tearing himself apart.

"And that last one...you stabbed me in the back! How could you ever expect me to trust you after the pain and torture you left me in!"

"But Shinrin..." Yuri whispered, "That was almost a year ago..."

"And what a terrible year it's been for me, you bet!" Shinrin shouted in reprisal. "See this!?" Shinrin pulled up his pant-leg, showing a huge, disgusting scar on his leg. Yuri winced.

"I thought you understood me...I'm too weak to fight on my own, and isn't that why you befriended me originally!? I thought you could...protect me from all that things that could hurt me, isn't that what you promised me!?" Shinrin clenched his fists in a rage.

"Why must you insist on hurting me...you simply abandon me for yourself!" Holding out his fingers, Shinrin began counting incidents: "You sacrificed me in the car fire...you left me at the mercy of an angry peer...you pushed me down a mountain on a scooter...and lastly, you left me die for those thugs, where I got this scar! If I were you, I'd be pretty darn disgusted with myself!"

Yuri wiped away a tear from her eyes, looking sympathetically at Shinrin. "I...I kn-know what I did was wrong, but that was the past, I was too impudent then..."

"Oh, sure, and then you'll just go and stab me in the back again," Shinrin said angrily, glaring at Yuri. Yuri looked down in sympathy.

"Face it, Yuri. I've got nothing to say to you anymore. I'm going back the the HQ, there may be messages there, and Spirit might be worried. As far as I'm concerned, from now on, you and I have never me-"

Suddenly, Shinrin was attacked from behind by a large boy, seemingly a few years older than he was. Knocked hard on the head, he fell forward, vision blurred and ears ringing. He couldn't understand what was going on, but he could only make out a few lines of dialogue.

"Well...looks like I've got him down. You're safe now, little sis," the boy said, in a heroic tone.

"Tsuta, what're you doing here!?" Yuri screamed, frightened.

"I saw you talking to that guy you told me about. He's been causing you trouble, and I'm here to make him pay the price. Go home, sis, there's no need for you to be involved in this any longer."

Shinrin, pulling up his head from the ground slighty, and seethed the words, "And now...you've stabbed me...again..." Shinrin's vision went white, and he went unconscious on the floor.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Tsuta means "ivy" in Japanese.

I had to hurry up to Lake Valor since the work there was enormous. I realized from the beginning that going to the lake would take some time, since it was far away from Jubilife, but never thought it would be that exhausting.

Since Route 207 was blocked, I had to go up to Floarome Town. Thankfully, it was an easy thing to reach it. I spent sometime there to get some supply of berries; I had to do so just in case I am in the need of them. Most of the berries I bought were Pecha Berry, since the water was polluted and the Pokémon might have been poisoned.

After staying there for a while, I went up to Eterna Forest. It was quite gloomy in that area, and I kept myself ready for any kind of attack. The forest was big and the long trees acted as a barrier, allowing a small amount of sunlight to reach the thick grassed ground of the forest. I was afraid to get lost in such kind of a maze, and therefore, I marked the trees I passed next to with my pocketknife. I am not sure of how much time I spent in that forest, but it was a lot. Blade kept on moving from one direction to another, trying to locate any strange object with his psychic power, until he actually located the exit.

I gladly ran outside the forest to find myself in Eterna City. I wanted to go ahead, but I was too tired to do so, and so was Blade. Therefore, I went to the PokéCenter to take some rest. There, I found my friend Gardenia enjoying her time with her Roserade. She was taking a cup of coffee. I sat with her and talked about various things, one of them was about the last mission Shinrin did. She was pleased with the outcome, and that made me proud. She also narrated to me a story about an old mansion in Eterna Forest. It was the same mansion Shinrin reported about and I met while exiting the forest. She told me the history of this mansion, and how the owner of it, along with his daughter and butler were found dead in a mysterious condition. Not only that, but she told me about how many people had heard a lot of noises coming out of this mansion and how many people think that it is haunted by ghosts. I didn't open my mouth to reply back, since I thought that it would most probably be haunted by Ghastly and Haunter, but the fact that Gardenia, who is a strong gym leader, was too scared about talking about this mansion, made me worried. I had that sudden urge of going there and investigating it, but the objective of my mission kept me awake. Not long after that, I left Gardenia who went back to her gym, and off I went east to the entrance of Mt. Coronet.

It is true that this mountain is a maze, but the way I wanted to go through wasn't hard to find. I only needed to go straight to the eastern exit, but some rocks blocked the way, and thus I had to go all the way around. It was troublesome to go up the stairs and then down, but what was more annoying is the numerous amount of Zubat I found there. For some reason, these Zubat were too aggressive (maybe because they rarely see any visitors), but they were a pain. Blade had to deal with each Zubat individually, knocking them all out with his Confusion. I was lucky to have a Psychic partner who can deal with Poison Pokémon that easily. After this tiring wonder in the mountain, I finally went out to find myself in Celestic Town.

Since Celestic Town is a very small town, I quickly exited it and went all the way through Route 210. It was a very hard job navigating through there; the whole area was covered with a very dense fog. I got lost numerous times that I finally realized that I was going in a loop. I got depressed, knowing my situation, but then, an old lady came from Celestic Town's direction (as I believe, yet not sure). She was laughing quietly, and asked me to follow her. However, she was too fast for me to follow through the fog that I lost her. I was sure that she knew how to reach the end of this route, but finding her was impossible until Blade jumped. I saw his horns shining, and then I got it; Blade is a Ralts, and it is known that Ralts can sense people's emotions and locate them person through his emotions. Blade was definitely locating that old lady through her emotions, and in no time, Blade went ahead with me following him happily.

It was quite easy to go through with Blade guiding me, and soon enough, I found myself near the end of this route. I saw the old lady standing there, but she didn't move on. It was strange, and what was stranger was the amount of yellow heads that were standing in front of her...

Shinrin's eyes opened slowly and painfully. He found himself tied to a chair in some sort of warehouse; he couldn't fathom where on earth he was. Attempting to recall what had happened, he could only remember being hit by something rather blunt by some boy, but who he was, or why, couldn't recover to him. The memory was nebulous in his mind.

He looked out the one open window. From what it seemed, only a few hours passed since his confrontation, as the sun was still shining high in the sky. But Shinrin was tied tightly onto the chair, so escape wouldn't be a cakewalk.

Suddenly, the door to the warehouse creaked open. The boy who had attacked him earlier walked in, with an angry, vicious expression on his face.

"Wh-who are you?" Shinrin asked, still a little dazed and disoriented. The boy came up to him and slapped him hard across the face. The slap knocked Shinrin over; this boy had a lot of muscle. The boy then pointed an accusing finger at Shinrin.

"I should be asking you!" the boy seethed. "What have you done to Yuri!? Tell me what kinds of things you've been doing to her!"

Shinrin looked quizically at the enraged boy. "Wh-what are you talking about!? I haven't done anything!?" The boy came up to him again, this time kicking him square in the stomach. Breathless, Shinrin gasped for air, wheezing as he breathed.

"Don't lie to me! Yuri's told me all about the horrible things you've been doing to her!" the boy yelled, furiously.

"That's a lie! It's all a lie, I'm the one who's been suffering!" Shinrin said. But Shinrin was losing his composure; his feet were shaking, his head was spinning, and he wasn't sure what to believe anymore. Was there something he was overlooking? Was he really the criminal behind all of the pain?

"Hah, sure, whatever!" the boy mocked, but then he saw Shinrin on the ground. He was tearing again, but something was wrong.

"Maybe...you're right...this could all...be my fault..." Shinrin whispered. The boy looked strangely at him. He wondered what Shinrin was up to, and what he was trying to pull.

"I've been dead weight for her this whole time...the least I could've done was try to defend myself from things...and instead, she's had to guard me this entire time...if that's what she's angry for...then...I have no complaints..." Shinrin somberly set himself back up. "If that's the truth, then you may do away with me as you will. I have no objections."

The boy sneered at him. "You're downright pitiful. That's not what she's angry about, she's angry for all the things you've done to her."

"Huh?" Shinrin said. "Wh-what else could it be?"

"You really are an idiot, or you're just trying to escape inevitable defeat. Didn't you leave her at the mercy at some angry schoolboy, and push her down a mountain on her scooter or something!?" Shinrin looked blantantly at him.

He was right. He was downright pitiful. But he had the truth. Yuri was nothing more than a sourtongued liar.

But for some reason, he couldn't bring himself to accuse Yuri. But why was this happening to him?

But his thoughts would have to wait, for the next thing he heard was the sound of a giant explosion, a huge Solarbeam, and a bunch of Pokemon to the rescue.

"W-what's going on!?" Shinrin shouted. The other boy had fallen flat on his face, presumably unconscious, and outside appeared a huge group of Roselia, Roserade, and Sakura.

"Sakura, what're you...?" Shinrin gasped. Sakura jumped up to him, gave him a tight hug, and refused to let go. "How'd you guys find me?" One of the Roselia rose their hand. Shinrin suddenly understood that the Roselia had seen what a predicament I was in, and Sakura...well, was just being Sakura: concerned for Shinrin's well being. The Roserade had come along as well, probably to make sure the group got there safely.

"Really, thanks, guys, I owe you!" Shinrin said happily, walking out of the warehouse. "You sure you can get out of here by yourself?"

Roserade and the group of Roselia nodded, Roserade called the call of duty, and they all left. Shinrin looked around, trying to get his bearings, when he finally realized where he was.

"Of course!" he thought. "I was in a warehouse, and what city has a lot of warehouses? It's...um...Veilstone!" He looked around some more, and found the department store, the Game Corner, and the Gym. It all connected; it was definitely Veilstone.

"There you are!" came a voice. He looked around, seeing a suave, discliplined gentleman run in his direction. Shinrin looked quizzically; he had just recovered from what was a terribly stressful day and it looked like his break would have to wait.

"Excuse me, but we must hurry to Lake Valor! Things are crazy there, so we must make haste, Spirit!"

"E-excuse me? I-i'm not-"

"No, no, we have no time! We must hurry before the Pokemon drown there, so hurry along now!"

Shinrin, being dragged by the "gentleman", sighed and wished he had just stayed at the HQ.

"Right, let's go." Noelle ran through the forest, Eon right beside her. The forest was thick, and it took them a little while, but, after about half an hour of twisting and turning, they reached Oreburgh City. The streets were busy with miners and their pokemon, mostly Machop and Machoke, taking supplies to Route 207 and back. Noelle kept bumping into them as she made her way along the street. After a minute, Noelle called out to her partner,
"Eon, be careful." There was no response. ".. Eon?" Noelle looked around. Eon was gone. "Eon? Eon!?" Noelle turned and tried to go back, but she crashed into another miner. "Hey, watch where you're going!" He said, trying to recover the pickaxe he'd almost dropped.
"Sorry. Have you seen an Eevee?" Noelle asked him.
"No, sorry." He walked past her, followed by a Mackoke. Noelle continued through the streets, asking anyone she could if they'd seen Eon. After a minute, she heard a screech. "Eeeeee!" Noelle followed the sound to see Eon, rubbing at her tail.
"I am so sorry." Said a miner next to her. "I wasn't watching.. I'm really sorry."
He looked up as Noelle approached them. "Is this your Eevee? I am so so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going, and I stepped on her little tail. I am so so so sorry!"
"It's alright." Noelle said, "See? She's fine." Eon was smiling at the miner, and licking at his hand.
"Oh thank goodness." He said, petting her. Noelle smiled and held her arms out to Eon, who jumped into them. Noelle waved to the miner, and made her way into the throng again.

Kakugo finally arrived at the Floaroma Flower shop, having gotten lost along the way due to his unfamiliarity with Sinnoh. "I'm here for a call about some Wurmple.", he said cautiously, hoping they wouldn't comment on how late he was. "Oh, thank goodness, my name is Sandra, I'm the one who sent out the job request.", the girl standing behind the counter said. Kakugo sighed in relief. "Our fields are being devastated by all the Wurmple eating the berries. I know they need food as well, but there just isn't enough to keep our business going when they're eating all of it. Isn't there something you can do, Ranger?", she asked, distressed. "Of course, just show me the way.", Kakugo replied.
In Floaroma Field, Kakugo found himself watching a huge amount of Wurmple devouring all the berries in sight. "Wow, I'm surprised you still have any berries left at all.", he said in disbelief. "Well, let's give this a shot. Hayashi, use Giga Drain on all the Wurmple to get their attention."
Hayashi became surrounded by a bright green glow, as did all the Wurmple. Streaks of light were drawn to Hayashi from all of them. They all suddenly stopped eating, and looked up, gazing in Kakugo's direction. "Here they come", he said carefully. "Capture.....on!" Kakugo said, as he and Hayashi rushed forward. "Hey, this isn't too difficult. Kind of like what they thought us in Ranger School huh?", he said to Hayashi, who deflected any incoming attacks with Bullet Seed. Kakugo created barriers of aura in order to keep the Wurmple in one area. "Careful not to use too much force, we don't want to hurt them.", Kakugo warned. One after another, the Wurmple complied, Kakugo's feelings having reached them, and they stopped attacking. Once the last one had calmed down, Kakugo stopped the assault. "That was great, you don't see that too often in this Region.", Sandra said. "How can I ever thank you?"
"No need, the fact I was able to help is enough thanks. Still, though, why would there be so many Wurmple here at once.....it's unlikely they just started going wild like this out of no where. Are there any areas nearby where Wurmple are known to be found?", Kakugo asked. "Well, Eterna Forest isn't too far, and it's teeming with Bug-types.", she replied. "Maybe we should check things out and see what made them so hyper, otherwise this may happen again.", Kakugo decided. After reaching Eterna Forest, he activated the Styler's light, since the massive trees blocked out much of the light that deep in the forest. As Kakugo, Sandra, and Hayashi walked further, they began to hear a grinding sound. "Now what could that be.....?", Kakugo wondered. A faint light became clearer ahead, so Kakugo switched off the styler's light to get a better view. "Wait a minute.....that can't be right.....they're not supposed to even be found in this region.....", he said, surprised. "What is it, what's wrong?", Sandra asked worriedly. It suddenly became clear what had been causing such a ruckus in the forest, as, on the trunk of a massive tree, was an even more massive Galvantula. "No wonder they headed for Floaroma Field, it's so open Galvantula probably wouldn't go near it, they prefer solitude.", he said. "What is that, I've never seen any Pokemon like it before!", Sandra asked. The styler's built-in PokeDex kicked in and answered what Kakugo was about to. "Galvantula, the Electric Spider Pokemon. They can produce thread tinged with electricity to both ensnare, and electrocute enemies."
"This is bad.....not only is it several times the size of a normal Galvantula, but it can use the move Spider Web, which traps any enemies. It's best if you stay back, Sandra. Hayashi and I will handle this.", Kakugo told Sandra. She listened, watching as the pair advanced towards the tree. Denchura's eyes shifted towards the two. "It's noticed us, are you ready?", he asked Hayashi, who nodded. The Denchura jumped from the trunk, appearing above them as a large silhouette falling out of the sky. "Let's do this!", Kakugo yelled, as he and Hayashi prepared to capture it.

......to be continued in: "Fierce Forest Fight! VS Galvantula!"

"Noelle?? Noelle?!?" Dylan was yelling, looking through the busy streets of Oreburgh. "Gah, I can't believe I lost her, no time to look for her though, I'm sure she'll find her way, I can't wait much longer..." He said to himself.
He made himself to the north end of town and went through route 207, eventually making his way to route 206. He looked over and noticed some Geodude rushing over to him. "Milotic, surf!" He commanded and Milotic let off a weak surf.
As he was turned to go to the accident site he was attacked by some Geodude and Graveler from the back. "Ah! Milotic, Hydro Pump!!!" He yelled as he struggled to get to his feet.

A loud crash echoed through the forest as Galvantula landed on the ground. Electricity sparked from it's body, it's purple eyes piercing with their ominous gaze. "Hm.....it's an Electric and Bug type, we're at a disadvantage here. It's Electric-type attacks won't do much, but be careful of the Bug-type moves.", Kakugo warned Hayashi. Galvantula rushed forward with incredible speed, especially when considering it's size. "Alright, let's start off with some Acrobatics!", Kakugo called, as Hayashi shot forward, slamming Galvantula into the air. After swiftly climbing the trunk of a nearby tree, it jumped in front of Galvantula, delivering a barrage kicks strengthened by the momentum of Hayashi's mid-air flipping. Galvantula was knocked to the ground by a final strike from Hayashi's tail. Despite all the damage it had just received, the Galvantula stood back up, as if nothing had happened. It then proceeded to launch an electrified net at Hayashi. "Using Spider Web won't do much good, we didn't intend to run away anyway. Wait a minute.....this isn't Spider Web, it's-!", before Kakugo could finish, the net landed on Hayashi, electrifying him and the ground he stood on. "That shouldn't do too much damage, but.....ElecNet lowers the enemy's Speed.....", Kakugo worried. Galvantula followed up by using Discharge, sending a current of Electricity towards Hayashi. "More Electric-type attacks? Does it not know any Bug-type moves at all.....?", Kakugo wondered. Hayashi jumped out of the way and narrowly avoided the attack, Electricity sparking from his legs. "The effects of ElecNet are starting to show.....", Kakugo noticed. Galvantula continuously used Discharge, sending electricity in all directions, making dodging difficult. Finally, one managed to strike Hayashi. "We've been on the defensive for too long, it's time we started counterattacking.....Hayashi, use Acrobatics again!", Kakugo said. Hayashi prepared to attack, but knelt on it's knee in pain as electricity sparked from it's entire body. "Oh no.....it's paralyzed.....", Kakugo realized. A ball of electricity formed in front of Galvantula. "This isn't any ordinary Galvantula.....to think it planned so far ahead....." Kakugo said. "What's wrong?", Sandra asked, Kakugo having almost forgotten about her presence. "That move is ElecBall. It grows in power the slower the enemy is compared to the user. Ordinarily, Galvantula using this on Hayashi wouldn't do much, since he's so fast. But after using both ElecNet and paralyzing him.....Hayashi's speed will be drastically lower.", Kakugo said. Galvantula launched the attack towards Hayashi, with him being unable to dodge due to the paralysis. Suddenly, a bright blue orb shot towards the attack, the two cancelling each other out. Kakugo had fired an Aura Sphere. "If either of us were alone, this would have been dangerous. But when we're together, nothing and nobody can stand in our way.", Kakugo said. "Alright, Hayashi, time to use that berry you've been holding onto.", Kakugo said. Hayashi reached for a pouch it had attached to it's waste, inside, a Lum Berry. "Seems we'll have to let loose a bit to defeat this Galvantula, time to activate Unburden!", Kakugo said. Hayashi ate the Lum Berry, it's paralysis disappearing. A bright green glow suddenly appeared around Hayashi, which began to flash, doing so faster and faster each time. "Alright, let's see how you handle Acrobatics with even more speed than the first time!", Kakugo called, as Hayashi vanished. Denchura was knocked into the air again, this time from the side, and then knocked back into the other direction. Sandra couldn't figure out what was happening, until she looked closer. Before each impact was a bright green blur. Hayashi was moving so fast her eyes couldn't follow it properly. Galvantula shot beams of varying colours at Hayashi, resorting to it's Signal Beam attack. It was too late, however, as the final blow, just as before, had been dealt with Treecko's tail, this time sending Galvantula crashing into the tree. Hayashi halted it's attack, landing back on the ground. As Galvantula rose back to it's feet, Kakugo said, "Wait, stop. We're not here to hurt you, but you can't force these Wurmple out of their home. There's more than enough room for the both of you in this forest."
Galvantula seemed eager to continue fighting. "I'm a Pokemon Ranger, so I encounter Pokemon all the time. I have an idea. If you come with us, you'll be able to have lots of fun battles, and it'll be for the good of everyone.", Kakugo said. The Galvantula appeared to understand, as it nodded it's head, glanced at Hayashi once more, and then walked towards Kakugo slowly. "Better contact Spirit back at HQ to inform him of the situation.....", Kakugo said, activating the styler's phone feature. "Hey, Spirit. I calmed down all the Wurmple earlier, it seems they were chased out of Eterna Forest by a really large Galvantula.", Kakugo said. "A Galvantula? They only appear in the Unova region, and that's really far away from Sinnoh. What was it doing in the forest?", Spirit replied, surprised. "I don't know, but I calmed it down, and it's really strong, so I think I'll make it one of my potential Partner Pokemon.", Kakugo said. "Well, either way, you'll need to bring it back to HQ. We'll treat any injuries it may have from the battle, and it might help us find out why it's in Sinnoh in the first place.", Spirit said. "Alright, we'll all be on our way there soon.", Kakugo said. "We're all a little tired from today's events, though, so I'll be using my bike to get back, if you don't mind.", Kakugo said. "Well, alright, since it's going to be one of your Partner Pokemon, I guess that's alright. I'm deeming this mission cleared, good work you two.", Spirit said. "Awesome, now to just call in the bike.....", Kakugo said. "What do you mean? How can you call a bike?", Sandra asked. "I built a transmitter into it when I became a Pokemon Ranger, it lets me wirelessly set it to auto-pilot and drive to my location.", Kakugo said. A red motorbike with the Ranger Union emblem headed towards the group. "But wait, I can understand a Treecko, but how will a Galvantula ride on this?", Sandra asked curiously. "That's the reason why Spirit said I could only do it because Galvantula was going to be a Partner Pokemon. I built a feature into the bike called auto-capture. It can store up to 6 Pokemon in removable PokeBalls stored inside the bike. I mainly did it for emergency evacuations.", Kakugo replied. "So, Galvantula, are you ready?", he asked. Galvantula let out a cry in affirmation, as a six-hole "cannon" of sorts, lowered from the side of the bike, a PokeBall being shot out of one of the holes. Galvantula was drawn into it in a flash of light, before it returned to the bike, with the "cannon", withdrawing. "Alright, get on, Sandra, and Hayashi. First we'll stop at Floaroma Town once more, and then, it's on to Jubilife City, and the Ranger HQ.", Kakugo finished, as he accelerated the bike and begun riding.

After asking Kakugo to get the Galavantula back, I quickly prepared an email and sent it to him, informing him about his rank.

Quote:
Congratulations Kakugo! You have finished your first mission, and as an award, you have become a Rookie Ranger. Expect more challenging missions since now, you can do E, D & C ranked missions!
Have a nice day~
Once the email was sent, I received a phone call from Shinrin, apologizing for being late to the HQ, and explaining to me his situation with the owner of the hotel who misunderstood, and thought that he is me. I quickly asked Shinrin not to go with him and tell him the truth. I also urged him to go back to the HQ as soon as possible, since there are missions waiting for him. Shinrin immediately agreed, and I closed my phone to concentrate on the problem ahead of me.

I took few steps forward to talk to the old lady, who without any hesitation said, "I have no idea what these are doing here. They are blocking the route, and without getting them off, we are stuck." The last thing I wanted is to go back to Mt. Coronet and down to the other route. That would take me a lot of time, and I already wasted a lot! I couldn't handle it, but to ask Blade to use Confusion against the Psyduck. It was utterly useless; they seemed to be immune to Psychic attacks. That was really annoying. I tried to back them off by talking to them, but they didn't listen or didn't understand. I spent like five minutes trying to move them away, but it was in vain. Suddenly, one of the Psyduck attacked me with a Water Gun! It was surprising, but I was able to dodge it successfully. This attack made Blade really angry. He hurried next to the Psyduck, which predicted a move, so they all used Water Gun. However, Blade wasn't there, but Growled from the other side. His Teleport astonished the Psyduck that they seemed to be puzzled. Blade didn't hesitate for a moment, but used Telekineses. They all levitated upwards, and I crawled under them to the other side. When I turned to see the old lady, I found her going back home screaming, "It's all right ranger! I have a Secret Potion. It will definitely move them away. Just go."

I trusted what she said and went east to Route 215. Although it was rainy and the path was muddy, I managed to go through that route and reach Veilstone City. I was really in the need of some rest, but I resisted this urge to continue my way down to Route 214. Once I reached the entrance of Route 214, I met the owner of the hotel who looked embarrassed once he saw me. I smiled and said, "It is alright mister. It was just a misunderstanding situation. Shinrin is on his way back to the HQ and nothing really happened." The owner was happy to hear that and asked me to go with him, which I did immediately.

We went down all through Route 214 until we reached Lake Valor. Once we did, I asked the owner to go back to his hotel, explaining that it would be dangerous in there. After that, I looked at Blade, who had the same serious look I had. Then, we stepped in...

It was night-time before Shinrin had returned to the HQ. Kakugo had already returned there, and her heard Kakugo muttering something about a "Galvantula", which he had never heard of. It must have been some Pokemon from another region, or something or other. He looked up at the bulliten board with baggy, sleepy eyes, and saw two missions. One was in Veilstone, but Shinrin immedeately ruled it out. He decided to go for the Pal Park one...well, after getting himself bandaged up after the beating the boy had given him.

Wrapping some white cloth around his cut on his arm, he and Sakura set out of Jubilife. He walked south with a slight furtiveness, as his incident was a little impacting on his security.

The Kricketot were chirping, and Hoothoot were wooing in the trees. The sounds of the happy Pokemon made Shinrin feel just at home. Back when he lived in the Hoenn region, in Fortree City, he contented himself by living amongst the native Pokemon, and their hooting and chirping and squeaking made him feel right at home.

But walking, he noticed something odd on the ground, something fluffy. He knelt down and he saw a Pokemon that looked like a sheep, but it was something that had never looked like anything he had ever seen; it definitely wasn't a Mareep or a Flaaffy, but what was it?

"Whi...whi..." the Pokemon muttered weakly. Shinrin slowly held his arms out, and felt the fluff. Something was odd, though; the fluff was soaking wet and gone hard because of it. The heavy fluff must be weighing it down. Reaching in his bag, Shinrin pulled out his Berry Sack, and pulled out a Spelon Berry, and gave it to the Pokemon. The Pokemon munched on the red Berry, then suddenly held its mouth in agony. It was typical of a Spelon Berry; after all, it was one of the spiciest Berries.

Shinrin then felt around the fluff. It was still hard, but the heat from the berry seemed to be emnating to heat the Pokemon's body, so the fluff was drying out, and becoming less hard. Shinrin eased the Pokemon down by giving it some water. After a few minutes the Pokemon was up and running. Shinrin held his hand out to pat the Pokemon on the head, but, frightened by the sudden hospitality, flew away by increasing the volume of the cotton tuft on its back.

"What an odd Pokemon. What is that, anyways?" He got out his scanner and scanned the flying Pokemon, before it determined its identity.

WHIMSICOTT, THE WHIRLWIND POKEMON. THIS POKEMON CAN SNEAK THROUGH CRACKS, NO MATTER HOW NARROW THEY ARE. BECAUSE OF THIS, THEY ARE KNOWN TO SNEAK THROUGH CRACKS IN THE HOUSES OF WALLS TO PLAY PRANKS.

"A Whimsicott, eh? Sounds interesting," Shinrin, on that note, continued down to Sandgem City to continue his mission.

Noelle hurried onto Route 207, Eon still in her arms. She'd decided that it would be safer to carry Eon until they reached 206. Eon apparently didn't see it that way, since she was struggling to break free. Noelle stopped a moment and scratched her ears.
"I know that you want to run some more," She said softly, "But I don't want to risk losing you again. And I kinda doubt you're going to purposefully put your tail under someone's foot if we do get separated."
Eon looked a bit upset, but she appeared to understand.
"We'll be at 206 soon. I'll let you down then, okay?"
Eon nodded, though she didn't seem too satisfied. Noelle hurried onward, wondering where Dylan had gone. Has he gone on without me? She wondered, Or is he still in Oreburgh? After a few minutes, she reached 206. Almost immediately, several Pokemon, namely Geodude, ran towards them. Noelle studied them carefully. They're too agitated to simply ignore.. She realized. "Eon, try Shadow Ball!"
Eon jumped from Noelle's arms, and attacked. The Shadow Ball crashed square into the first Geodude, sending it into the second, then propelling both into a third.
"Nice one Eon!" Noelle called. Eon looked back, and smiled. They continued forward, Eon Shadow Ball-ing the Geodude that couldn't be avoided. After a moment, Noelle caught sight of Dylan, who was being attacked by More Geodude and Graveler.
"Eon, try your Dig attack!" Noelle said. Eon quickly burrowed into the ground, only to pop back up five seconds later underneath one of the Graveler. Before it could strike back however, Eon burrowed back down. Noelle took advantage of this to help Dylan to his feet again.
"Need some help?" She asked him, taking hold of his arm to pull him up.

I went further in to Lake Valor to find it a complete mess. Many trees were uprooted with three of them floating on the lake. Many Pokémon were running across the shore or swimming in what looked like a pale purple lake. It was too much for a storm, that was my first guess. But seeing that it was dusk, I decided to postpone my investigation until the next day. Knowing that it would be a busy day, I slept immediately in my tent to wake up at 6:00 am.

The first thing to do was to count the amount of trees that were uprooted. They ended up as twenty, seventeen of them on land and the rest is on the surface of the water. While counting them, I was also inspecting the trees to find out that only three of them were uprooted by the storm, while the rest were cut with an electric saw. I was astonished to realize that, knowing that deforestation is not allowed in Sinnoh, and only authorized people can cut a limited amount of trees. This realization further supported my fears that the lake was polluted by people.

I asked Blade to start moving the trees aside with his Confusion, and went close to the lake that had a lot of Magikarp swimming clumsily. I took a test tube and filled it with a sample of the lake water. Then, I went to Pastoria City which had the mail station. I rented a Staravia and attached the test tube to it with a letter explaining what should be done with it. It was sent to Emma in the HQ to conduct some research on it. When I came back, I found that Blade was still moving that tree. He was hardly and slowly succeeding in his job. I couldn't blame him since his psychic power were still weak, so I called The Rock Busters in Veilstone City. I asked for four Machoke and and ten Machop. That was pretty expensive, but I had to do so if I wanted to finish my mission properly. Therefore, I went to Pastoria City, yet again to get these Pokémon from there since they were sent by the company to the PokéCenter there. Once I reached, I took the fourteen Pokéballs with me and head back to Lake Valor.

When I reached, I found Blade had finally moved one tree to the corner. He was pleased, yet disappointed to see that he had to move nineteen more trees. I laughed and sent out all the fourteen Fighting Pokémon, who moved towards the trees and started moving them. While Blade and I were resting for a bit, and seeing Machoke and Machop working hard, I received a phone call.

"Oh! Hi Emma. It has been three hours since I sent you the sample."
"It reached me two hours ago. Anyway, I am done with the analyze and I have the result in my hand. It seems that the water has got some unusual chemicals in it, apart from the normal ones. This water has a lot of nitrogen chemicals and other kinds of toxins. It is pretty dangerous! The lake must be purified, or the Pokémon will die!"
"I am trying my best to do that. I still have five trees to move and it will be done. But the water... I still have no idea."
"I am sure you will solve it. I am sure. Speaking of the trees, the truck you requested should be near you soon."
"Thanks-"

...and a noisy horn was heard from a certain distance...

Shinrin found himself in Sandgem City before the moon was in full rise. The stars had begun to twinkle in the heavens, like a bunch of little tiny gems in the distance. Shinrin remembered the old days, how at night he would go outside with the Pokemon and look at these stars; it was a fond memory in his mind...

Shinrin broke his train of thought by realizing there was no one outside. The city was barren, not even bikes, potted plants, or anything was outside. Something was up, but...what?

Shinrin went to the Pokemon Lab and tested the doors. Shut tightly, like it was trying to keep something out. Shinrin gave up on that endeavor and knocked on one of the houses. He knew that Professor Rowan had an assistant living here, with his two daughters, so if he could get any information, it could be from him.

"Who's there!?" shouted a voice from inside the house. A bunch of footsteps could be heard running down the stairs. Shinrin stood patiently, but he was worried as to what he would find inside. The door swung open and a Buneary jumped out, quickly using Ice Beam on him. Shinrin, unable to react fast enough, was hit and rendered frozen. Sakura stood, shocked, at the three people and started complaining to them.

"Oh, false alarm, I thought it was truly here," the man said, rubbing his head in embarassment. The two girls looked at the frozen Ranger, awestruck.

"Cool~! It's a real Ranger~! Sis caught a Ranger~!" the smaller of the two sisters squealed. The other, calling Buneary back into its Pokeball, murmured, "You can't catch a Ranger, silly. But what is he doing here?"

"More importantly, how do we get him out of that ice?" thought the man. He knocked on the ice. "It's a pretty thick block of ice, that's for sure. Well, I suppose we should bring him inside."

The three people sat in the family room after properly locking the front door, drinking hot chocolate and waiting for Shinrin's body to that from the ice. They placed him next to a fireplace, and the effects were slow and steady. But the ice was melting enough for him to break free of it soon.

After about half an hour of waiting, the Shinrin's hair began to penetrate the surface of the ice block. The three people watched with impatient anxiety, as Shinrin's arms started to move, then his legs, then overall, the ice broke apart and fell on the floor, still melting.

"Uhhh...what?" Shinrin said, thoroughly stupified. He looked around at the people staring at him, and he instantly locked up. His diffidence made him very jumpy around them.

"O-oh! I-I'm so s-sorry, I-I'd best be o-on my w-way!" Shinrin stuttered.

"Hold it, we have something to ask you," the man said forcibly. Shinrin stopped in his tracks and stared nervously at the man, then his two daughters.

"You see, this big, scary monster isn't leaving us alone!" said the little sister. "It looks like this!" She held up a bad-quality photograph, and he saw a small, flying ball of fluff.

...Wait, small, flying ball of fluff!? That had to be...

Just when Matthew thought he was done for, another Ranger's Pokemon knocked out the Graveller of the circle.
"Quick, Břlt! Barrage the remaining Geodude with Ice Fang and Iron Tail while they are confused!"

After several Pokemon where sufficiently battered and frozen, Matthew looked up towards the mountains, and noticed a large Pokemon on a cliff overlooking the battle. It was a Golem, with a frozen arm which glinted in the sunlight, and appeared to be ordering the swarm of Pokemon.

"Břlt, hold down the fort here, I'm going to try to calm down the leader!"
Sprinting, he made his way through the battlefield towards the enraged Pokemon, when he was tackled by a Geodude and his breath was knocked out of his lungs.

Dylan got to his feet and saw Noelle. He replied, "Yes, some help would be nice. Milotic! Surf!"
Milotic did as she was told and let out a powerful Surf, knocking out most of them, but the tougher ones just shook it off and continued attacking them. "Milotic, Hydro Pump! Hit as many as you can!"
Milotic let off a Hydro Pump, hitting several Graveler, knocking a couple out and weakening the others. "Almost..." He said to himself.

Noelle watched as the Geodude were hit one after another by both Milotic's Hydro Pump, and Eon's Dig. She could tell, even from here, that Eon was getting tired. Though the Surfs and Hydro Pumps were very effective against the Geodude and Graveler, she knew that the resulting mud was making it harder for Eon to burrow through the ground. Eon popped up out of the earth just then, coming up right beneath a Geodude. As she turned to jump back down into the hole, she slipped, falling flat on her face. One of the Graveler saw this, and turned to attack her. It picked up a fair sized rock, taking aim at Eon.
Noelle ran forward, wrapping Eon in her arms to protect her, just as the Graveler threw it's rock. Noelle cried out in pain as it slammed square into her back.
"Eevee!" Eon cried, concern written plainly on it's face.
"I-I'm okay Eon.." Noelle muttered, trying not to sound too pained.

"Noelle!!!" Dylan yelled out. "Milotic, use Blizzard until they're frozen!"
Milotic did so and the Geodude and Graveler were frozen solid, and Dylan ran up to Noelle. "Are you OK?" He asked, concerned. "We have to get to the site, quickly. Will you be able to handle it?? It could get dangerous. I will take you back to Oreburgh if you want."

Noelle shook her head firmly. "I'm alright." She said, though her voice was still a bit pained. "Just give me a minute.." She stood up slowly, and rubbed her back. "That's probably going to leave a mark.." She muttered. Eon, who Noelle was still holding protectively in her arms, looked up at her, still worried. Noelle smiled at her and scratched her ears. Eon still looked worried, but she jumped down out of Noelle's arms, though she didn't run off. After a minute, Noelle took a deep breath, and smiled. "Alright, let's get going."

From now onwards, please quote the mission which you'll be doing at the beginning your first post.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quote:
Title: Save us! It stinks!
Description: "Please! We are from Run & Get company that is allocated is Veilstone City. My two workmates and I are in the warehouse of the company. We were getting some machines for sports when we realized that we are trapped in the warehouse by a big Muk and two Grimer! They are blocking the way outside and we don't have anything to drive them off. We are dying here! The smell is poisonous and ugh!"
Location: Sinnoh, Veilstone City
Difficulty: C
Without any haste, I called my Eevee and went outside the Ranger HQ in order to reach Veilstone as quickly as possible. I had to get to the warehouse before the workers suffocate, and I knew there was no time to waste under such circumstances.

I decided to head to Route 204, which is north of Jubilife City, because that is the shortest way to Veilstone City without any obstacles blocking the way. Soon enough, I started sprinting across the Route until I eventually reached Floaroma Town, with Eevee along my side. His eyes seemed to radiate infinite energy and loyalty, and that was how I was always used to seeing him.

Upon entering Floaroma Town, the beautiful scent of flowers which filled the atmosphere set me into a false sense of calmness, but I did not keep my mind off what I needed to do. As I continued running, a number citizens cast curious looks at me, and some of them invited me to participate in what was called "The Aromatic Festival". I wondered how people could propose such requests when they could clearly see the urgency of my situation, but I didn't stop to think about their behaviour. The lives of several people were dependent on me, and Veilstone was still a good way from Floaroma.

Up to this point I thought my journey was going to be fairly easy, considering how nothing unexpected or dangerous took place. It was only until I reached Route 205 that I found out I was mistaken. The route was rich in patches of grass which contained wild Pokémon, and the last thing I wanted was to get into any time-consuming battles. This wish of mine was not destined to be met; when I was halfway through the grass, a wild Buizel emerged and impeded my progress.

Eevee immediately sprang in front of me and bristled, trying to protect me from the Buizel. Almost instantaneously, the Buizel seemed to disappear into thin air without any precursor, and I knew it was using Aqua Jet. Buizel was much faster than Eevee, but Eevee possessed better bulk and learned to withstand strong attacks from our previous experiences. Just when I wanted to tell Eevee to use Growl, Buizel reappeared again and hit Eevee with a quick splash. Eevee's feet buckled a little bit under the force, but he quickly got up to his feet. I immediately ordered Eevee after that to do a Quick Attack, as the Buizel was recovering and already getting ready to launch another attack. Eevee made a fast, circular movement around Buizel and hit it on its back, causing it to stumble. Buizel must have felt threatened, for it appeared to disappear then, which meant that it was going to attack Eevee again.

"If you want mind games, then so be it," I thought, and at that split second, I shouted: "Eevee, use Dig!", at which Eevee immediately buried itself under the ground. Buizel emerged seconds after that and washed the place where Eevee was standing away, but was surprised to see that its target was gone. At that precise moment, Eevee forced his way out of the ground and hit Buizel before it could use its agility to escape again. The Buizel fell down on the ground and partially fainted, but I did not want to harm it any further. Quickly calling Eevee to continue, I set off across the rough platforms until Eterna Forest came into view.

I did not appreciate the fact that I had to get into the forest to reach Eterna City, but I had no option as long as the big trees were blocking the shorter side-way. However, it seemed that luck was on my side, as I saw a camper who had a Roselia with her standing beside the trees. Upon noticing my uniform, she exclaimed in curiousity:

"Hey! You're a Pokémon Ranger!"
"Yes, I am. And sorry if this might sound rude, but I have no time for little conversations. I need to get through this forest for an urgent mission before it's too late."
"Oh, judging from your panting, the matter does seem pressing, so I will provide you a little helping hand: do you want my Roselia to Cut these trees? That will open a much quicker way for you to reach Eterna City."
"That would be much appreciated, actually," I said, and a rush of gratitude filled my body.

The camper then gave orders to her Roselia to Cut down every tree impeding our progress, and indeed the Roselia used Cut to clear the trees away. The course was clear.

"Thanks a lot. You have no idea how much easier you've made things."
"Oh, don't worry. I hope you succeed in your mission!"

And with these encouraging words ringing in my head, I started to sprint again: across the flat ground beset by bushes on either side, across the wooden bridge set above the lake, and across all the fishermen waiting for their luck. The run barely took me ten minutes when I found myself facing Eterna City...

Title: Sudowoodo is under an attack!
Description: "Hello, there. I am a manager from the Pal Park. In front of the entrance, a group that consists of five Floatzel are attacking a poor Sudowoodo. As you know, Sudowoodo is really weak against water, and their Aqua Jets are harming him miserably. Please come and save it!"
Location: Sinnoh, In front of Pal Park
Difficulty: D
Shinrin walked out with the older of the two sisters to investigate the Pokemon. He was actually quite shocked that Whimsicott might do something like that, as it seemed to be a genuinely kind Pokemon. But what could he tell, after all, it was a Pokemon he had never seen before.

"So what has this Pokemon actually done, anyways?" Shinrin asked. The girl sighed heavily and replied, "It's been stealing stuff. Most notably, it stole the Pokemon vitamins that my dad's been keeping for Professor Rowan. If we don't get it back, then the Professor can't go on with the experiment. Plus, they've been having troubles since the storm, so we need to get them back so that they don't have to go through more trouble." Shinrin nodded; it esd s big concern.

After an hour of searching around, Whimsicott was nowhere to be found.

"That's odd. It usually shows up around this time," she said. She sat on the ground, peeved, and took a rest. Apparantly, circling around a small town took a lot out of people.

"Hey, if you're tired, here," Shinrin said. He gave the girl his walkie-talkie, and held out his own. "If you see the Pokemon, contact me. I have another mission to do, and it might take me a while, so..."

"Oh, OK. Good luck on your mission!"

"Thanks. Say, could I have your name?"

"Sure! I'm Dawn. It's been a pleasure to meet you," The two shook each other's hand, and Shinrin went on his way to continue his mission.

Making a makeshift raft out of logs and leaves, he flowed on the river until he could hear something that sounded like crashing water. Jumping off the raft and looking at the front of Pal Park, he saw the owner watching in sympathy as the Sudowoodo writhed in pain at the Floatzel's attacks.

"Alright, Sakura, now's your time! Hit 'em with Solarbeam!" Shinrin whispered. Silence ensued.

"Um...Sakura? Are you...?" He looked behind him, and saw Sakura on the raft, out like a light. Her calm snoring made it obvious that she was asleep and that she wasn't going to wake up with full energy anytime soon. It looked like he would have to distract the Floatzel himself.

"Hey! Over here!" Shinrin called in a deliberate loudness. The Floatzel stopped their attacks and stared quizzicaly at Shinrin. Shinrin stood his ground, waiting for the Floatzel to chase after him.

"Float Float FLOATZEL!" shouted what appeared the lead Floatzel, and the entire group then used SonicBoom on Shinrin. Blown back at the force of impact, he flew back into the river with a huge splash. Climbing back onto his raft, freezing cold, he shivered and tried to move, but his muscles were shocked by the sudden cold and rendered immoble.

"Flooooooooat...ZEL!" shouted another Floatzel. They all attacked with Aqua Jet, flying towards the raft, as if intended to break it. Shinrin dared not show weakness, but in his mind, he wasn't sure he was going to make it out alive. He braced himself for impact, but the pain, the coldness, never came.

"Whim~!" shouted a ball of fluff, who flew and landed in front of the barrage of Aqua Jets. Holding up its arms, a powerful wind began to blow, and a tornado spiraled in front of its arms. The fluffy Pokemon thrust the tornado at the Floatzel, who made direct contact with it and was thrown back by the force of the wind. They flew back into the staircase leading to the Pal Park building, and smashed into the staircase, leaving a huge dent in it. The five Floatzel, from what Shinrin could tell, were fainted.

"Woah...what power..." Shinrin whispered. He then noticed it was holding some sort of bottle. Looking closely, he realized it was a Zinc bottle. It wasn't normally found in nature, so it was no doubt. Whimsicott must have been the culprit of the stealings. But, did it drink them all already?

"Hey, thanks Whimsicott, I owe you one!" Shinrin thanked. The Sudowoodo came up and smiled at Whimsicott. Whimsicott smiled too, and then jumped onto Shinrin and held onto his head.

"Hey, Whimsicott, how about joining us on our travels? You'd be a great help, with your power." Whimsicott nodded, and held tighter to Shinrin's head.

"Hey, Whimsicott...could you...st-stop doing that, it hurts...a lot...owww..." Shinrin complained. Whimsicott laughed.

"It sounds like the truck you sent, Emma."
"Well then. Good luck, and see ya!"

I ended the call and turned back to see a huge crane appearing in front of me. It parked near the entrance of the lake, and a buffed man went down. He asked for the trees, and in no time, he controlled the robot on his crane, which picked up the trees from the ground and put them on the crane. It was a matter of half an hour until it was resolved. Once he was done and went back, I returned to my tent exhausted. Blade was as exhausted as I was. I had to take back the Machop and Machoke to their company, but my laziness prevented me from doing so. I took a nap throughout the day, and when it was nearly dusk, I woke up and took the Pokéballs out with me. When I was about to go ahead to Pastoria, Blade exclaimed and directed me to the camera I put when I firstly arrived to the lake. "Ah, the camera? Not now. We are leaving tomorrow, so until then, let this camera record everything that is happening in this lake. We might find the culprit!"

Blade followed me on my way to Pastoria, where I left the Pokéballs to be taken by the company. I reached Lake Valor yet again and went to sleep after a wonderful barbecue next to the shore. When I woke up the next morning, I heard cheerful noises from outside. I ran out to see Bibarel, Golduck, Psyduck, Magikarp, Gyarados, Goldeen and Seaking all swimming in the lake happily. Many other Pokémon were enjoying their time across the shore. I was astonished to see the lake crystal clear after it was polluted just the last night. I had to know what happened, and thus I remembered the camera. I hurried back and played the video. Everything was normal until that thing appeared; the exact characteristics were hard to see, but a dog-like thing appeared in front of the lake. Its hair looked long since it was moving vividly in a wavily manner. That thing touched the lake with its paw and then ran away. I couldn't understand what exactly happened, but I understood that it was that dog that cleaned that lake. I couldn't stop thinking of it, but it was clear that my mission was clear!

I contacted the police, telling them about my investigation and that there are people who polluted the lake. They promised to continue this case, while I returned back to the HQ. On my way back, I received two notifications, informing me about two new missions. I quickly read these missions and then forwarded them to appear on the Mission Board of the HQ.

Shinrin began to walk back to the HQ as soon as the Sudowoodo was taken care of. He walked by Sandgem Town, visiting Dawn and her family, reassuring them that the Whimsicott wouldn't bother them any longer, and apologized about the bottles of vitamins that Whimsicott had drunk. They said that it was no worry, so Shinrin returned as soon as possible to the HQ.

Sending Whimsicott to Emma for further studies on the new Pokemon that have been randomly arriving in Sinnoh, Shinrin noticed that there were two more missions on the Mission Board. He contemplated the two in silence, grabbed the Route 217 mission, took a well-earned rest (as he had just pulled an all-nighter), and set out at sunrise.

As he was walking through the Eterna Forest, a random thought struck him. He remembered that the people on the Route 206 mission hadn't returned yet.

"I hope they're OK...they've been gone an awfully long time..." Shinrin thought. He then discarded the thought, almost angrily. "No. I must give incentive to my own mission, no matter what. After all, worrying about Yuri got me nowhere." He continued to walk, deep in thought.

Shinrin walked out of the Eterna Forest, dashed past Eterna (because of his many encounters there), and entered the Mt. Coronet cave. Examining around, he determined which way was north, and walked that way. The cave became progressively colder and colder, and Sakura began to shiver. Shinrin, worried, took off his flannel and rapped it around Sakura, picked her up, and covered her with his arms. Sakura looked at Shinrin, worried, since now Shinrin had nothing but a T-shirt on, and that was not proper clothing for a blizzard.

"Cherrrr..." Sakura murmured. Shinrin looked down at her. "It's all right, Sakura, I'll be fine. Just as long as you're snug, I'm happy. Just relax, and I'll tell you when I need your assistance."

Sakura's snugness didn't last long, as soon enough, a hoard of Zubat and Golbat attacked them from above. Sakura, with great swiftness, jumped out of his arms and used Solarbeam. The group disbanded in shock from the sudden attack, dodging the Solarbeam completely. Instead, the Solarbeam hit the icicle stalactites at the top of the cave, causing the entire top of the cave to collapse. The rock and ice spewed from the roof, scaring the Zubat and Golbat into fleeing, as Shinrin and Sakura ran away from the falling mass of stone. The avalanching rock created a perfect barricade in the corridor they were in, so turning back was no longer an option. But the exit was right ahead of them. But the rock tumble had caused enough noise, causing an avalanche of snow outside of the cave. The snow on the mountain fell accordingly, blocking the entrance with a thick layer of snow. They were trapped.

"Shoot..." Shinrin muttered, kicking the ground. He walked up to the exit, hit the snow with his palm, and saw that digging their way out would take much too long. And it was bitterly cold, so hypothermia might set in.

"Sakura, use Sunny Day! That might melt the snow!" Shinrin said. Sakura nodded, rose its hands, and some red, sparkling dust rose to the ceiling and dissipated. They waited then.

About an hour later, there was still no sign of melting. In fact, the layer of snow seemed to have gotten thicker!

"Hmm...odd...Cherrim, use Weather Ball, see what's up," Cherrim nodded, aimed its Weather Ball, and shot it. A giant ball of ice flung towards the snow, making not much more than a tiny indentation.

"What? Ice? That means...it's still snowing?" Shinrin thought. He thought for sure that the Weather Ball would be a Fire-type one. He had Sakura use Sunny Day again, then Weather Ball, but it was still Ice-type. And they didn't have much time to figure things out, as already, Shinrin's fingers were going white, and his movements were becoming sluggish. He set down his backpack, pulled out his supplies, finding nothing much but his food (consisting of a few berries and a sandwich), a walkie-talkie, his Ranger phone to contact the HQ, and a canteen of water (which Shinrin assumed has frozen by now).

Shinrin took his Ranger HQ phone, intending to reach Spirit for help. Unfortunately, there was no service in Mt. Coronet. His walkie-talkie would do him no good...

"Wait, I have one walkie-talkie...that means..." he grabbed his walkie-talkie, turned it on and held the button as long as he could with his numbing fingers.

"D-dawn!? Y-you there!?" Shinrin begged. He heard a rustling sound in the background, and heard a fuzzy "yeah".

"Th-thank goodness! Listen, D-dawn, I n-need y-y-you to g-go to the Ranger HQ t-t-to r-request h-help...I'm c-caught i-in an av-v-valanche at the n-n-north exit of-f-f M-Mt. Cor-r-ronet! H-hurry! I-I'm w-waiting!"

Shinrin let go of the button. His fingers were beginning to freeze down to the bone. He just hoped that Dawn got the message, or else he and Sakura would be done for.

I finally reached the HQ to find a girl standing in the entrance hall. She was standing there fearfully, twitching around and looking for anyone to who would talk to her. Seeing that, I understood that no one is in the HQ, so I ran to it, in order to see what that girl wanted. Once I entered, that girl turned around and rushed to me yelling. It took me some time to calm her down and then she actually spoke.

"It's Shinrin! He is stuck, in Mt. Coronet! He is going to die! He will freeze to death!" She started crying and lost control yet again. I sighed and tried to say something, but that was of no use. I looked at Blade, who looked really disturbed with his horns shining. I understood that her emotions were really disrupted due to what Shinrin was facing, so I relied on Blade on solving the situation. Blade understood what I wanted from him, and he, without any hesitation, touched that girl's head with his hand and used Calm Mind. In seconds, she stopped, and I was able to know her name and the details of Shinrin's trouble. I sent Dawn back home and quickly typed in a new mission:

Quote:
Title: Save your fellow ranger!
Description: "Shinrin is trapped in Mt. Coronet and might go frozen. Go for th rescue!"
Location: Sinnoh, Mt. Coronet
Rank: B
Restricted Ranger: Spirit
I hurried up to my room, changed my clothes to warmer ones and went up to Eterna Forest. Since I passed in it the last time, it wasn't really hard to navigate through it, yet I faced some difficulty. It took me some time, but I was able to cross through Eterna City and enter Mt. Coronet.

This time, I had to go up the mountain and go into its northern part, rather than just walking across it. That wasn't easy, but with Blade's aid, I was able to find a solution. Blade started searching for Shinrin's emotions. He located them, and quickly urged me to follow him. Going up the mountains slides wasn't an easy job. Later on, when the temperature dropped down, it was even harder. Nevertheless, I managed to go deep into the mountain cavern and follow Blade who continuously teleported from one place to another for an easier travel. I am not sure of how much it took me, but then, I was able to see that big rock that blocked the path, and most probably, trapped Shinrin.

Shinrin knelt on the cold stone wall of the cave, preserving his fingers as much as he could, but his toes, even in the protective layering of his shoes, began to go numb. His teeth chattered incessantly as Cherrim, wrapped in the flannel, continued to offer it back to him. Shinrin continued to refuse, concerned about Sakura's safety more than his own.

Suddenly, he heard a mumbling on the other side of the thick stone slab blocking him off.

"Wh-wh-who is-s-s-s th-th-there? Is-s-s-s it-t-t-t Spiri-ri-ri-rit?" Shinrin shivered. He heard mumbles, but nothing else. The stone slab was blocking all sound. Shinrin stumbled his way up, putting his ear up to the rock, but he still couldn't hear anything. Looking up, the ice was starting to freeze over the small crevices in the ceiling. Worried that attacking with Solarbeam would cause more avalanches, he had Sakura wait until he was sure it was safe.

"Sp-sp-sp-spir-ri-ri-ri-ri-rit-t-t-t...!" stuttered Shinrin, whose body was slowly succumbing to the cold. "Wh-wh-wh-what-t-t-tev-v-v-ver y-y-you d-d-d-do...d-d-d-don't at-t-t-ttack th-the st-st-st-stone sl-sl-sl-slab-b-b-b! It-t-t-t may c-c-cause more st-st-st-stone t-t-t-to coll-l-l-l-apse!" With that, Shinrin fell to the cave floor. Sakura shook him worringly, but with no luck. Shinrin's body was shutting down, and hypothermia was kicking in. His body felt like it was becoming encased in ice, and it burned his skin. He wasn't sure what would become of him, but he hoped that Spirit and Blade had the ability to remove this slab without causing the entire cave to crumble.

The cave was shrouded in silence. I, slowly, stepped forward towards the huge rock that blocked the path. Touching it with my hand, I felt the sudden coldness of the area behind it. I couldn't move it with my strength no matter how many times I tried. I realized that normal strength will not help me in such situations, but the importance of this mission, did allow me to get numerous ideas, one of them was to investigate. I asked Blade to Teleport behind the rock, and after that, I start checking the gaps between the rock and the walls to see if there is a chance of moving the rock. While I was searching for hints, I noticed that the upper part of the cave wasn't stable, and the rocks hanged up there might fall if a huge impact occurs in the cave. This was a definite trouble, since using brute force to move the rock was not a chance. While I was thinking of another solution, Blade popped up. He was worried, and immediately, he used his psychic powers to connect my brain to his and show me what he saw. It was Shinrin, laying on the floor unconsciously, with his partner Pokémon Sakura defending him from a huge Golbat that was attacking. Considering the bad environment Sakura was in, and the type disadvantage it was facing, it was a must for me to hurry and get rid of this rock.

Thinking of another solution was no longer an option, as it was a waste of time. I had to take a risk and use Blade's moves to get destroy this rick, otherwise Sakura and then Shinrin would be in fatal danger. Blade was smart enough to understand what I was thinking of, and used Confusion. He used it several times; ten times to be precise, but then, that little amount of psychic power used combined was able to shatter that huge rock into pieces. I expected more rockfall, but luckily, only a little bit of dust and small stones fell down. When I was done with that, I saw Sakura receiving a critical hit from Golbat's Wing Attack. Sakura was thrown away, and seemed to faint soon. Golbat flew up the cave to charge for his next Wing Attack. It was impossible to prevent it from using its move, but decreasing the damage was my only hope. "Lucky Chant!", I shouted. Blade rubbed his horns with his hands. His horns started glowing and magical crimson tentacles came out of his horns. The tentacles wrapped Golbat, slowing him down and preventing him from laying another critical hit. Sakura took this surprise as a chance to flee away, and went back to me seeking protection. Giving Sakura a smile of confidence, I stepped forward with Blade on my side, ready for the wild battle.

Golbat seemed to be enraged with my corruption, and thus, it charged up again to use its Wing Attack. Blade tried to evade the move, but he was too slow compared to Golbat's high speed. It was of no use; evading its moves was nearly impossible with a slow Pokémon like Blade. However, this didn't hold me back, considering my experience in coming up with strategies to deal with different situations. The first thing I asked Blade to do is to use Reflect, protecting himself and Sakura as well. Golbat used Wing Attack again, yet it barely did any damage with Reflect in the game. After that, Blade used Double Team, creating a circle of his copies. This was surely a confusing factor for Golbat, which attacked twice with Poison Fang, but failed to hit the actual Blade. In the mean time, Blade used Growl thrice, reducing Golbat's attack harshly. Golbat was surely in a bad state, and that was my chance to ask Blade to use his final move, Confusion. Confusion hit Golbat super effectively, and finally, it fell down. Surprisingly, Golbat, while falling down, used Supersonic! The sound was too high that it caused a disturbance in the cave, shaking it and resulting in a rockfall! Several rocks fell down, three of them were above Shinrin! Golbat fainted, and I rushed to save Shinrin with Sakura screaming behind. Suddenly, I stopped to be startled with Blade shining brightly. Several leaves flew from this gleaming spotlight and cut all the rocks into tiny particles. I was astonished to see such a move used by Blade. When the lade faded, I became more surprised; Blade evolved! He was no longer a Ralts, but a Kirlia!

Seeing the new-formed Blade was pleasing, but I wasn't done with my mission so I hurried towards Shinrin with Sakura following me. He was really cold, so I took out a small blanket from my bag and covered him with it. Sakura stayed next to him, healing him with Aromatherapy. In the mean time, I headed to the exit which was covered with the avalanche. "Why didn't Shinrin use Sunny Day to melt the snow?" I exclaimed. "Blade, use Sunny Day." Blade, with his hands shining red, started creating a lot of heat. But this heat didn't seem to exist, since the snow didn't melt and the air continued to be chilling. I understood why Shinrin was trapped, since the weather was too cold for Sunny Day to work properly. Suddenly, Sakura stood up next to Blade and its hands shone red as well. It was using Sunny Day, helping Blade. Using two Sunny Day, the air became hotter and the snow started melting. In few minutes, the exit was open.

I held Shinrin up and went outside to Route 216. I walked all the way until I reached the old hut between Route 216 and Route 217. I kept Shinrin laying on that bed with the old grandma taking care of him. Sakura stayed there as well. I went outside with Blade back to the HQ, waiting for Shinrin to be healed and continue his mission.

Mission Accomplished!

Shinrin woke up, feeling awfully comfortable. His eyes were heavy and weak, but he saw that he wasn't in the HQ, but rather in some sort of cabin. It was still snowing outside, and he saw an old woman rocking in her rocking chair not too far away from him. The fireplace burned with a soothing heat, and Sakura lay asleep.

"Ah, so you've awoken, I see," the grandma said. "Good to see; after all, you've been asleep the whole day." Shinrin leaned up, his back burning from the still extant frostbite he attained.

"How long...have I been out like this?" Shinrin asked. The grandma closed her eyes in contemplation.

"I'd say since yesterday. Almost a good 24 hours, dear."

Shinrin suddenly jumped out of bed, though his legs and arms were still recovering from the great cold. His arms and legs locked up, andShinrin fell to the floor. "I've got...to...complete...my...mission...no matter...what..." he mumbled. Sakura woke up, squealed and helped Shinrin up.

"My dear, it's much too cold to go out now. The blizzard may be less that yesterday, but if you go out now, you're leaving yourself at more risk! Then Spirit's rescue would have been for nothing." Shinrin stopped for a moment. So it was Spirit who helped him in his darkest hour. But no matter what, he had to give incentive to his own mission, no matter what.

"Well, I appreciate you taking care of me, so I thank you. But I really need to get going," Shinrin said, apologetically, as he ran out the door. The grandma looked with worry and gave him a little wave.

The clouds were broken and quickly moving as it let down an onslaught of snow. Visibility was down, and the snow was thick, as shinrin began to sink. Attempting to use Sunny Day again, the clouds parted briefly, only to begin to snow again. But where were the clients?

Suddenly, Shinrin heard a sound that sounded oddly reminiscent to a serenade. Which was odd; who would play a violin in the middle of nowhere!? But he then realized; could it be the Kricketune that was trapped as well? Shinrin ran as quick as he could to the sound. Soon enough, he saw silouettes of people, struggling to break free of the snow. Shinrin felt down towards the snow. A fluffy top-layering, but continuing down, something was solid a feet into the snow.

"Hello!? Are you guys alright!?" Shinrin called.

"Yes, we're fine, but my daughter's starting to get hypothermia, I think! Kricketune is getting weak as well!" called the man. Shinrin walked up to the three, feeling the daughter's skin. Definitely, they were better suited for the snow than he was, but she was losing body temperature, and fast. He has Sakura use Sunny Day and try a quick Weather Ball towards the ground. Luckily, the Weather Ball came out to be Fire-type, making impact with the ground before the snow began to fall again. A great heap of snow melted, and the solid thing found below was determined. He found ice.

"What!? Ice!?" Shirin shouted. He stayed on the snow to maintain his balance, but he wondered why there was ice there. Nonetheless, he had opened a big enough hole to allow the three to get out of their hole.

"Yes! Freedom!" the man shouted jovially. "Look, honey, we're out now!" The daughter slowly opened her eyes, and looked around. She smiled weakly. Unfortunately, the reunion wouldn't last for long. The blizzard suddenly picked up the pace and brought down the visibility to nearly zero.

"What!?" Shinrin shouted. "How did things change so fast!?" Sakura begin to murmur with some suscpicion. Shinrin understood; something must be coming. Like they had suspected, an Ice Beam out and hit the ground, creating a small pillar of ice.

A herd of Swinub and Piloswine appeared, led by a humongous Mamoswine. They all seemed angry, and he believed he knew why.

"The Mt. Coronet avalanche I caused...it must have destroyed your home, didn't it?" Shinrin asked. Without listening, the Mamoswine picked up his feet and slammed them into the ground.

"Earthquake! RUN!" Shinrin shouted. The five ran as fast as possible, Sakura stalling with Solarbeam, Sunny Day, Weather Ball, repeat. She was able to defeat many Swinub and Piloswine, but the Mamoswine seemed undaunted. He sent out a powerful Blizzard attack, sending Sakura for a loop.

"Sakura! Are you OK!?" Shinrin asked, worried. But Sakura seemed fine. Oddly, Sakura began to glow among a orange and purple aura.

"W-what!?" Shinrin gasped. The group stopped. Mamoswine aimed another Blizzard in Sakura's direction. Sakura ran towards it, encased in the orange and purple aura.

"Sakura, what're you-" before he finished, Sakura blasted forwards, straight into the Blizzard, and neutralized it with a beam of purple and orange radiance.

"Wait...Sakura...Sakura's learned Giga Impact!?" Shinrin said, shocked. Sakura ran straight into Mamoswine with full power, knocking it down and into the entire herd of Swinub and Piloswine. It appeared to be knocked out. With that, the entire group fled to Snowpoint City. When they arrived, the rescued man, girl and Kricketune went promptly to the infirmary to treat their wounds. Shinrin, after a short rest, ran back to the HQ (a trip that took several hours), and was careful where he went. Hopefully the Mamoswine and his group didn't hold a grudge with him now.

MISSION CLEAR!!!

I received a notification, informing that Shinrin did his last mission, making the total of three. Once that was done, I prepared yet another email to be sent to him, to keep him aware of his current position.
Quote:
Congratulations! You have earned the title of Normal Ranger. Now, you have the access to higher ranked missions; D, C & B missions. As an addition to that, you now have the ability to go with two partner Pokémon rather than one. Good luck!
Once that was sent, the door of my office opened and Emma went in. "Hello, sir," she greeted me, "I prepared this cup of hot coffee. It should make you feel better." I thanked Emma and took the cup, drinking a gulp of it and hoping to make me feel better. "It is because of my last mission, I got this cold. I should heal soon though, it is only a simple cold," I replied back. She stood next to me without any movement for a while, until I realized that and asked her to sit down. She did, but in a shy manner, yet she started some unexpected conversation.

"I have been looking at the list of rangers. Is the information posted there the only one that you have?"
"Of course not. The information posted is a brief introduction to the ranger. I have a file of every ranger, which contains a lot of personal information. But these files aren't accessed by anyone but me or the heads of the Ranger Base."
"I see. But I noticed that you haven't posted any brief information about you, why so?"

It was a hard question to answer, since I didn't have a reply for it. After a moment of silence I was able to answer, but not a very satisfying one.

"I never thought of it. I will update it later on, when I have the time. Anyway, what happened with your research?"
"I am still in progress. I should be done soon."
"That's good. You may go, Emma."

She stood up and went to the door, but as soon as he reached it, she stopped and turned back to tell me:
"I have a good idea for you, sir. Why don't you take a day or two off? To the Fight Area, where the weather is warm? It can help you recover quickly."

She continued her way out, but what she said struck my mind, and I couldn't resist but to get up, prepare some luggage and go out. While I was going downstairs, Shinrin entered the HQ, tired as I had expected. He greeted me and excused me to go to his room for a rest, but I stopped him.
"So Shinrin. Gardenia phoned me today in the morning, telling me that She, along with other Grass fanatics are going on a trip to Eterna Forest. They will be spending two days in there, exploring the forest and searching for Grass Pokémon. A gym leader from Kanto, called Erika, is also coming. It should be fun, and Gardenia asked me to tell you to go, since you are a Grass lover. I suggest you go there; it would be a good time to gain experience from two gym leaders and other Grass trainers. They can help you improve Sakura. Oh, and regarding the Wimsicott, Emma is still researching, but you should receive it soon. I will inform you about that."
"Thanks Spirit. About the trip, I will think about it."
"Alright then, but the trip is starting today in the afternoon, so don't be late."

I headed out of the HQ, to find Blade had Teleported to my side. He followed me silently, expecting some new journey. I went west all the way to Canalave City, were I took a ticket to the Fight Area. Hours later, I found myself standing in a tropical paradise. Nice looking trees were planted everywhere, and everyone seemed to be overjoyed. I took a rest in the PokéCenter there, and then went to the Battle Frontier, where I wandered there and also bought some new items and medicines. After that, I went east to rent a boat that took me all the way to the Resort Area.

Shinrin, after mulling it over, decided that he needed the little break to celebrate his new ranking. He and Sakura packed a little camping kit; Shinrin put in his foldable tent with bug-resistant nets, sleeping bags, a lunch supply for two days, his mother's cookbook, some plastic utensils, and some Pokemon food for Sakura. Sakura hobbled over to Shinrin, holding up her Pokedoll, which looked like a Cherrim, with a jovial smile and huge, puppy-dog eyes. Sakura always brought her Pokedoll on long trips.

As Shinrin walked towards Eterna (though he still stayed extremely wary), he contemplated his time at the Ranger HQ. He supposed he was doing alright, although his missions have been rather shaky, at best. His first mission was rather unstable when he lost track of Sakura and was ambushed by the Roselia, his second was a little better despite his run-in with the Floatzel, in which Whimsicott bailed him out, and the third mission had bothered, and from what he could tell, got Spirit sick. But he supposed he could do better; once he got more experience, he was bound to improve.

The Eterna Forest was as pretty as the last time, but he could hear voices, in which he followed to arrive in Eterna City yet again. He lied low and found the group of people, seeing Gardenia ushering towards the other people and Erika leading the group.

"Hello! I'm here for the Eterna Forest trip!" Shinrin called. Erika looked over and gave a little wave. Gardenia hopped down from her pedestal and gave a joyful greeting.

"Welcome! I see you've gotten the message from Spirit. I'm sure you'll have a great time, and we'll be hosting some Pokemon battles too!" Gardenia said. Shinrin nodded. As long as Yuri wasn't around, he was sure he would be...

"Shi-shinrin?"

Shinrin looked over, and saw his torture chamber. "You've got to be kidding me..." he thought. Shinrin looked forward, pretending not to see her, though she called several times. Sakura noticed his tension and pulled at him. Shinrin knelt down and reassured her.

"Don't worry Sakura, we'll be fine," Shinrin said.

At around 3:00 P.M, they arrived at the campsite. There was a huge patch of leveled ground, next to a giant tree, almost illuminated by the afternoon sunlight. The trainers gathered to receive their first activity for the day, in which the trainers would all get acquainted with each other. Shinrin stayed nervous for most of the time because of his timidity around people, but he was able to talk to a few people. He met one boy, considerably younger than Shinrin, who had Turtwig with him.

"Uh...hi!" the young boy called. Shinrin, who was sitting next to a tree, reading, while Sakura played with her Pokedoll, moved is head and saw the boy approaching him. He gave a little wave.

"Uh...I'm kinda new to this...my family runs a garden in Solaceon City..." the boy said, nervously. Shinrin smiled, saying, "Is that so?"

"Yeah! Well...this is my buddy, Turtwig..." the boy said, gaining confidence. Turtwig gave a little smile. Sakura saw the Turtwig, stopped playing with her Pokedoll and ran up to the boy. She smiled, as did Turtwig. Shinrin smiled, seeing how well Turtwig and Sakura were getting along.

"Is this Cherrim yours?" the boy asked. Shinrin nodded.

"Sure is. Say, what's your name?" Shinrin asked. The boy blushed severely.

"Well, I'm...I'm Joey. N-nice to meet you!" he said, holding out his hand. Shinrin shook it affirmatively, and realized what had made him so nervous. He looked down at his Ranger suit and felt his newly earned badge. The boy must have been nervous, talking to a Ranger for the first time. Gardenia and Erika then called the trainers to group up, to begin the next activity.

Once I reached the Resort Area, I felt the tropical atmosphere welcoming me. It was a soothing aroma that made me feel home. I went straight deep to the area to find up on the hill, the villa that my father owns. I knew that my parents would not be at home, since they travel a lot and are currently in a far away region. But I was lucky to have my own spare key. I stepped in to find the villa as it was before leaving it; the furniture was still in the same position, but a thicker layer of dust has formed. It was hopeless to clean, so I just went to the backyard, where the swimming pool was, to chill. Blade was dancing next to me, showing an overjoy. I wasn't surprised, especially that many Pokémon were running across the fields, enjoying their time.

I slept on my chair under my umbrella, forgetting all the pressure of running the HQ. Along with the medicine I took, this weather was good enough for me to get cured out of this cold. When it was late in the afternoon, I went inside. Once I stepped in, the bright orange rays that were shining through the windows suddenly disappeared. Everything changed to gray and a strange and unexpected silence invaded the place. In few seconds, a very loud and high pitched blow filled the air. It was like someone whistling; it was a very strong blow of wind. I hurried to the nearest window to have a look, to find out that everything became gold in color. Moving particles of sand were rushing among the houses to form a gigantic sandstorm. People were screaming, with many of them trying their best to reach any kind of shelter. Blade, on the other hand, was concerned about what was happening. The sandstorm continued for ten minutes. After that, the wind stopped blowing, yet the shiny scarlet particles of sand continued floating through the air. No one went out, and neither did I. There was still a danger of a re-happening.

However, this decision didn't last for long. Strangely, Blade's two horns started gleaming, and the space around his head started to change its shape. It was an awkward moment until I realized what was happening; I remembered what the Pokédex says about Kirlia: It has a psychic power that enables it to distort the space around it and see into the future. Moments later, this weird psychic power stopped, and Blade looked worried. Without even waiting for me to ask him anything, he rushed out of the villa and went outside, expecting me to follow him...

*Sorry for the big delay between my posts. I'm having little to no time for making lengthy posts on the forums, as I'm busy with my life right now*

I could immediately recognize the difference between Jubilife City and Eterna City upon entering the latter; Jubilife is a busy, advanced city which includes a variety of important technological landmarks. Eterna, on the other hand, was marked by a feeling of eternal history and ancient richness, causing it to become an attraction for different purposes than Jubilife.

Before continuing my quest to Veilstone City, I dropped by the PokéMart and bought a number of Potions from there. If the situation involved Poison-type Pokémon like Grimer and Muk, then the Potions would sure come in handy. When I left the PokéMart, I immediately broke into a sprint again, with Eevee on my side, and soon I approached the statue of the legendary Pokémon on which I carried a research before joining the Ranger HQ.

The statue was rather large and signified how important of a historical place Eterna once was. There was a group of tourists crowded around it, taking pictures of it with great enthusiasm, but I tried my best to make my way among them as quickly as I could without disturbing them. Thankfully, that wasn't a very difficult job, and soon the entrance of Mt. Coronet started emerging into my view while walking in the bushes of Route 211. Although my Eevee was ready for battle, I really hoped that I would not stumble across any wild Pokémon. The last thing I wanted right now is to be delayed.

I had my second strike of luck when I left the grass bushes without encountering any wild Pokémon. Upon entering Mt. Coronet, I realized there was barely any sunlight shining through from the entrance, so the place was dark. When I took a few steps forward, my eye fell on the first obstacle in my way: there was a jagged rock blocking the course, and I had to get rid of it fast. I ordered my Eevee to use Dig to get on the other side, and he managed to emerge over there almost in no time. Then I told him to Tackle the rock from his side while I hit my body against it with full force, too.

At the beginning, it seemed like my strategy to break the rock was ineffective. However, after about seven minutes, a crack appeared in the middle of the rock, and the rock soon split into half when Eevee gave it the final Tackle. When my path was clear, I could see that Eevee was feeling a little tired due to the repeated hits, and I couldn't blame him: even my shoulder was paining me because of that. Ignoring my pain, I carried Eevee on my hands, gave him a Sitrus Berry from my back-pack, and watched as he slowly recovered back to his full health. Then it took us about ten minutes to cross the remaining way out of Mt. Coronet, with Eevee occasionally Quick Attacking any impeding Zubat on the way.

The second part of Route 211 was an easy pass for me, since I decided to go on the rocky mountainside. There were many trainers along the way, but none of them proposed a battle when they saw how hurriedly I was running. I felt grateful that I didn't have to break all the jagged rocks which I found on the way, since they didn't block the path which I needed to take. In a short time, Eevee and I were sprinting across the small, quiet town of Celestic.

If I have ever found Eterna to be an old city, it was nothing compared to Celestic Town. The latter preserved the history of Sinnoh and the old ways of life perfectly, and the shrine in the middle (which I intend to carry a research on soon) gave the town a mysterious feeling to it. However, that was not my main concern now. As I left Celestic Town and entered Route 210, the sky started to become foggy and made it difficult for me to see my way through. I immediately realized that this was going to be a problem...

Shinrin sat around, while Sakura played with Joey's Turtwig. We decided to have a nice talk, although he was very nervous and his knees were shaking. He tried to force himself to flow into a conversation, but he wasn't sure what to do, and the suspense of not knowing what was to come out of the conversation made him shiver.

"So, when did you meet Cherri- I mean, Sakura?" asked Joey. Shinrin popped out of his train of thought.

"I...I found her when I was 5, and we've been friends...since..." Shinrin began to have a fond flashback of his younger days with Sakura. He was walking down the lakeside to the east of Fortree City, through the tall grass, greeting the wild Pokemon. They all seemed rather worried.

"What's wrong, friends?" the young Shinrin asked the panicking Pokemon. They all cried anxiously, leading Shinrin towards the center of the tall grass patch. There, he saw a Pokemon, a Pokemon he'd never seen before, fallen on the ground an barely conscious. Shinrin tenderly picked it up.

"Ch-cherrim...?" the Pokemon whimpered. Shinrin, worried, run out of the grass patch to clear ground.

"Are you OK? Are you hurt?" Shinrin asked. The Cherrim squealed in pain, and went limp, finally unconscious. "Wh-what? I guess I better get home before you get to any more troub-" Suddenly, a hoard of Ariados surrounded the two. They glared at him angrily.

"Wh-what!? What do you want!?" Shinrin screamed. A car then showed up, with the red "M" printed on the side of it. A man, with pale skin and red hair, walked out of the car, smiling. He wore a suit that also had this red "M" mark on it. Two others walked out on his side, smirking as well. One other, wearing completely different clothes, wore an iron mask, with a strange vest that had Pokeballs on it, though they were different from the usual brand, as the Pokeballs were completely black.

"Well, looks like someone got him. Good work," said the red-headed man. "Now hand it over, if you please."

"Huh? What?" Shinrin said, confused. He held tighter to the Cherrim.

"You heard Maxie!" said the man next to the one who just spoke. "Hand it over!" Shinrin was really frightened now. He assumed that they were bad people.

"W-why should I!?" Shinrin shouted defiantly. Maxie walked up to him, and knelt down.

"Look, son. I don't want to cause trouble. But we need that Cherrim for a very special need. If we let it go now, who knows what might become of our cause? Team Magma's been working extremely hard to-" Shinrin slapped Maxie in the face and tried to flee, but the Ariados stopped him.

"Petulant child," Maxie muttered, rubbing his cheek. "How dare he attack me! Go, Camerupt!" Maxie threw his Pokeball, releasing an angry-looking Camerupt. The Ariados that Shinrin was surrounded by all used Spider Web, tying Shinrin and Cherrim up. The two fell on the ground, helpless.

"Camerupt, use Overheat! Destroy this impudent child!" Camerupt charged his Overheat. Suddenly, a group of Linoone and Surskit attacked with Quick Attack, knocking Camerupt over. Cherrim soon groaned.

"Cherrim, what's wrong!?" Shinrin asked. He saw that the Cherrim's floew pettles were glowing with an illuminate, powerful light. The transaction seemed to pain her, though, as she grasped her head and screamed. All of the wild Pokemon fled again, and Maxie's Camerupt prepared to use Overheat again. Finally, the Cherrim made one final scream, and light beams emerged from the flower petals. The beams of light ran to the sky, then fell vertically down upon them. One hit the ground, and a huge, half-spherical light lasted for a split second before exploding in a brilliant flash of light. Shinrin, closed his eyes, crying, and the Cherrim fell unconscious again. Light beams continued to fall down from the sky, hitting the Ariados, the Camerupt, the wild Pokemon, and the people. Terrified citizens of Fortree City gazed upon the sight. When the onslaught was over, the ground was parched, Ariados lay limp everywhere, the Camerupt had fainted, the car was completely annihilated, and the people slowly climbed their way back up to standing. Shinrin's web was broken, so he proceeded to flee back to Fortree City.

"After them, Shedinja!" shouted the iron-masked man. The black Pokeball released the Shedinja, which seemed to have some sort of dark aura surrounding it. It chased Shinrin down, while the citizens called out Pokemon to stop the Shedinja. Though it was extremely powerful, once hit with a person's Air Slash, it fell feebly onto the ground. The citizens of Fortree called on their defense system; a bunch of Tangrowth guarded the city. Shinrin ran home.

"Yeah, they were good times..." Shinrin said in the present, breaking from his flashback.

"Oh, that's cool! Hey, can I ask you something?" Joey asked. Shinrin nodded.

"Can we battle together against Erika and Gardenia? I want to see what kinds of strength that they have, as well as your Pokemon's strength!" Shinrin nodded again. He supposed it wouldn't hurt to battle.

"Cool! I'll go get them now!"

As Blade expected, I followed him in a rush. Once I was out, visibility became approximately zero! It wasn't fog, but a very thick sandstorm that prevented everyone from opening their eyes. It was really annoying to allow sand to build up in my eyes, so I wore my sunglasses, that actually helped a bit. However, navigating through this place while the sandstorm is in effect was impossible, especially that Blade's eyes were closed in the first place. I stood there motionless, thinking of a way to get rid of the sand, until a bright idea stroke me! "Blade! Use Sunny Day!" Despite the fact that the sun shone, the sand didn't disappear, but the weather became more of a desert, due to the addition of the heat. It wasn't a brilliant idea, but a bad one. Minutes later, I opened my bag and took out the TM case. I had few, but one of them was supposed to be useful, or that was my wish. But then, the TM I bought in Battle Frontier a while ago came across my eyes. I took out TM 18 and quickly used it by holding it on the forehead of Blade. In no time, Blade learned Rain Dance. "Now Blade, use it!" Quickly, Blade's hands shone blue. He held them up to the sky, which became covered with black clouds. It started raining, and the sand became heavy mud that fell to the ground. It was good to see the air is fresh again, but my clothes were soaking wet, which wasn't really pleasing.

Blade didn't settle down after that, but hurried up to Route 229, crossed it shortly and continued all the way up till we reached Route 228. It was less wet in this area, but I wasn't surprised since this route is usually hit by small sandstorms. Blade continued running all the way through. When I reached him, I found him facing two boulders that were giant enough not to move, even with Blade's psychic power. Blade seemed depressed about it, but knowing this route from before, I asked Blade to follow me, and west we went. It was a small walk, where I went to a slop, which was easy for us to climb. We climbed all the way up to the upper cliffs. Blade seemed to be happy to see that he could continue his sudden journey, but this time, he stopped rushing ahead of me, and walked next to me. We crossed all the way over the boulders and reached a very distant place. It was like a mud pool, covered in thick sand. Living in that pool were three Hippowdon. They were angry, and were fighting with each other. I understood the cause then; when Hippowdon gets angry, it unleashes more sand from its body. That was the cause of the unexpected strong sandstorm. I was surprised though, to see Hippowdon fighting with each other, since I knew from before that Hippowdon are peaceful Pokémon. There was a reason behind this fight. I slided down the cliff, reaching the ground. The Hippowdon were larger than what I expected, which actually intimidated me. I went through the mud pool all the way, until I reached the Hippowdon. It was really deep there, but Blade was walking, or rather floating, on the surface of the mud. I shouted at the Hippowdon, but their roars were higher than my shouts. Blade was ready to attack at the moment I ask him, but before giving the order, I noticed a green spot on one of the Hippowdon. I couldn't know what that spot was, so I had to march in more. It was a really hard job; going through and in the same time, evading the deadly blows of the Hippowdon. Several time, I was in the danger of getting a Crunch from a Hippowdon, but Blade was swift enough to use Magical Leaf in the right time, and push the Hippowdon backward. It was hard, but not impossible, and thus, I reached the green-spotted Hippowdon.

It was the most angry of the three, and approaching it innocently wasn't a good idea. But being that close, I understood what that green thing was. It was a Cacnea, stuck in one of the holes in Hippowdon's body. I got that the spikes of Cacnea were causing some sort of pain to that poor Hippowdon, which thought that the other Hippowdon were attacking it. I tried to get closer and get the Cacnea out, but Hippowdon didn't allow me, but rather Tackled me. Blade decided to use Magical Leaf, but I stopped him, not wanting to harm that Hippowdon with the already harm it received. Therefore, I asked Blade to use a continuous wave of Confusion, making that Hippowdon in a confused state, and allowing me to get closer without any harm. While Blade was using Confusion, I successfully approached Hippowdon, and got the Cacnea out after several attempts. After that, the Hippowdon became calm again.

Happy, I started going back to the shore, when I tripped over another green object. It was as hard as a rock, but it was moving. My face went closer to it, to find that it was a Larvitar! But that Larvitar didn't look well, but injured, due to, most probably, the fight of the Hippowdon...

"Oh? A battle?" asked Gardenia. "Well, that'd be lovely! That'll give us some time to evaluate on your training capabilities!"

"Will it be a tag battle?" Erika asked.

"Yup! Let's do this!" Gardenia shouted happily. The two Gym Leaders stood at one side of the flat area of ground, while Shinrin and Joey stood at the other. Sakura and Turtwig were totally prepared for whatever hit them, but against two Gym Leaders, they wondered if they stood a chance.

"Alright then, Cacturne, let's go!" Gardenia called, throwing her Pokeball. The ball popped open, revealing the scarecrow-like, intimidating cactus Pokemon. It's menacing face made Sakura and Turtwig cringe.

"Tangrowth, you come out too!" Erika called as well, tossing her Pokeball in the air. The ball opened, sending out the massive sphere of vines.

"The battle between Erika and Gardenia against Shinrin and Joey will now commence! Each Trainer will use one Pokemon each, and the battle will end when both of one team's Pokemon have been defeated!" called the announcer. The other trainers looked in quiet envy. Yuri looked as well, intrigued. Shinrin averted his gaze from Yuri, and focused on the task at hand.

"Shinrin and Joey will have the first move. Battle begin!"

"Sakura, use Sunny Day!" Shinrin called. Sakura threw her hands up, and the sun's rays immedeately intensified. Joey was up next.

"Turtwig, Grass Oath, now!" Joey called. Turtwig called out strongly, and leaves began to swirl around his body. At the end of its call, the leaves went swirling towards Tangrowth.

"Tangrowth, guard yourself with Rock Slide!" Erika called. Tangrowth slammed its supple arms to the ground, sending rocks flying into the sky, only to fall to gravity and block the Grass Oath. But Sakura had a plan; behind all the confusion, Sakura released a Weather Ball straight into Cacturne.

"Cacturne, Sandstorm, hurry!" Gardenis called, noticing the ball of fire heading towards them. Cacturne thrust its arms down, and a barrage of sand blew, neutralizing the Weather Ball. Under the reduced accuracy, Turtwig couldn't see, and was sent flying by a powerful Power Whip from Tangrowth.

"Turtwig, retaliate and use Double-Edge!" Joey called. Turtwig flipped backwards, and rushed ahead towards Cacturne. Cacturne seemed invisible in the snadstorm though.

"Sakura, use Sunny Day!" Shinrin called. Sakura struggled to raise her arms, but she managed to end the Sandstorm and recreate the sunlight. Turtwig's Double-edge continued.

"Cacturne, Drain Punch, now!" Gardenia called. Cacturne pulled its fist back, surrounded by a green light, and punched straight at Turtwig's head. Cancelling Turtwig's attack, health was sapped and it was sent flying back again, but Turtwig couldn't retaliate.

"Sakura, help Turtwig and use Aromatherapy!" Shinrin called. Sakura ran to Turtwig and placed her hands on Turtwig. Before she could do anything, though, Tangrowth had attacked again with Earthquake. A crevice in the ground separated the two, but Turtwig was able to stand up again.

"Sakura, Weather Ball on Tangrowth!" Shinrin shouted. Sakura formed a ball of fire in her hands, and fired it strong.

"Turtwig, help Sakura and use Grass Oath!" called Joey. The swirling leaves again appeared, and was fired behind the Weather Ball. Cacturne, however, again neutralized it with Sandstorm, while Tangrowth used Rock Slide to block what was left over.

"Tangrowth, Power Whip!" Erika called. The supple arm again fell down upon the two, and Sakura and Turtwig were sent into the air again. Shinrin saw an advantage there.

"Sakura, head straight down and use Giga Impact on Tangrowth!" Sakura faced downwards, and the purple and orange aura Shinrin had seen at his last mission surrounded Sakura. Joey also saw another advantage.

"Turtwig, use Superpower on Sakura from above!" Joey commanded. Turtwig reahced as close as he could to Sakura, and thrust its arm straight onto her, sending her down onto Tangrowth at a breakneck speed.

Suddenly, the aura surrounding Sakura disappeared, and she began to flip forwards.

"Tangrowth, Power Whip!" Erika called. Tangrowth thrust its arm at the falling, helpless Sakura, sending it flying straight towards Cacturne.

"Cacturne, Drain Punch!" Gardenia commanded. Cacturne smashed its arm right into the hurling Sakura, sending it flying back towards Shinrin. It fell to the ground after some time, fainted. But Turtwig was still falling as well.

"Cacturne, now use Dark Pulse on Turtwig!" Gardenia shouted. Cacturne jumped up and fired a powerful Dark Pulse, hitting Turtwig and sending it flying off to Joey. It had fainted as well.

"Cherrim and Turtwig are both unable to battle, thus, Gardenia and Erika are the winners!" the announcer called, joyously. Shinrin and Joey picked up their Pokemon, smiling and saying they had done their best. Although, Shinrin couldn't help but wonder why Cherrim's Giga Impact failed to work. Of course that train of thought broke when a steel claw suddenly grasped Sakura and made off with it.

"W-what jsut happened!?" Shinrin shouted. He turned around and he saw the last person he wanted to see, besides Yuri.

"M-m-maxie!?" Shinrin gasped. Maxie jumped down from the tree and pulled out three Pokeballs.

"Go, Chandelure, Volcarona, and Simisear!" Maxie bellowed, throwing the three Pokeballs. Three more Pokemon that Shinrin had never seen; these Pokemon seemed so foreign to him. The Pokemon cried and breathed fire all over the place. In all the confusion, Shinrin, Joey, Gardenia, and Erika couldn't see anything. Maxie seemed to call out a Charizard, on which he made his getaway. The Pokemon ran around, casting fire on all of the trees. The forest was in utter chaos.

"S-sakura! Th-this is bad, I have no Pokemon to fight them off!" Shinrin screamed. Turwtig was fainted, and the Cacturne and Tangrowth were being slowly defeated. The other trainers were afraid to fight, save for Yuri, who had strangely disappeared.

"W-wait!" Shinrin thought. He pulled out his Ranger phone. He called Spirit, but there wasn't any signal, again, and he presumed it was just some sort of bad weather connection. He then called Emma.

"Emma! It's Shinrin, and I need Whimsicott NOW, as in right NOW!"

When Larvitar was within my hands fainted, Blade looked satisfied. "So that's what you saw earlier?" Blade nodded happily. "Well then, good job. We have got to get it to a PokéCenter." However, Blade neglected what I told him and went closer to Larvitar. He raised his hand and touched Larvitar. A pink beam shone from his hand, and I felt a nice aura. Seconds later, Larvitar woke up in a fresh state. "I see. Heal Pulse, ha?" I was glad to see that Blade was improving rapidly. He was surely a smart one. Once I put Larvitar down to the floor, my phone rang.

It was Emma. She explained to me the state Shinrin was in, and how a man named Maxie appeared and is destroying the forest. She also told me about how Shinrin was in the need of Wimsicott. I couldn't quickly agree on that, but asked Emma about the report she was preparing. "All of it are prepared, sir. I was going to call you anyway; I already finished testing Whimsicott, Galaventula and the water you gave me. What should I do, sir?" I remained silent for a moment, and then asked about Shadow, thinking that he would go and help, but unfortunately, he was still on his mission. Seeing such a situation, I asked Emma to release Whimsicott, which I knew that she would be able to locate Shinrin on her own. I also promised Emma to be in the HQ soon.

"Larvitar, I shall leave you here in your territory. I must go. Take care of yourself!" I ran ahead with Blade following me; he knew that something serious has occurred. However, Larvitar was following me! I tried my best to keep it away, but it was useless. Larvitar kept sticking to my leg, not wanting to leave me. It was until then that I understood; Larvitar wanted to be with me all the time. "I see, you want to be a partner?" Larvitar shook his head violently. He was still young, but was really enthusiastic. Blade didn't look to be against the idea as well. I think he thought that he would be the boss from now on. "Fine. From now on, you will be called Lav." Larvitar jumped high, showing a great interest in his new name.

When this was settled, I hurried back to the Resort Area, took the boat back to the Fight Area, and off I went back to Canalave City. Once I reached, I quickly ran back to Jubilife City along with Blade and Lav, to check what was happening.

The forest was ablaze, and terrorized Pokemon were fleeing all over the place. Gardenia's Cacturne, unable to defend against the advancing Simisear, was knocked out from an Acrobatics attack. Chandelure had long since defeated Tangrowth with its Fire Blast, and even knocked out her Bellossom. Volcarona was setting fire to whatever tree it saw, regardless to whether Pokemon living in there had fled or not.

"This is bad...really...bad..." Shinrin muttered. Simisear suddenly turned to him, and lept towards him, regardless that he had no Pokemon with him. However, the next second, Simsear was knocked sideways into a tree by a huge force of wind. And the source was Whimsicott.

"Whimsi...COTT!" Whimsicott cried triumphantly. It then, out of its nose, created a song-like noise. The Pokemon of the Eterna Forest all emerged, faced Volcarona, and all attacked at the same time. Volcarona was damged badly; it fell into a tree, and out after a few minutes of tumbling.

"Impressive, Whimsicott can use Beat Up!" Erika complimented. She sent out her next Pokemon, Roserade, who attacked with Sludge Bomb at the advancing Chandelure. Chandelure seemed to be little affected, as it attacked with Will-o-wisp, burning Roserade. Chandelure quickly switched to attacking with Hex, and as Roserade was burned, its power was doubled and Roserade fell, fainted.

"Whimsicott, help out and use Shadow Ball!" Shinrin said. Whimsicott raised its hands over its head, and created a huge, purplish ball. It thrust the ball to Chandelure, hitting it square in the face. It collapsed for a moment, but it continued to float.

"Torterra, use Stone Edge!" Gardenia called. Torterra's body was surrounded by jagged stones, and they were thrusted at Chandelure; or so they thought. Simisear attacked from the side with Acrobatics, knocking Torterra over and causing the Stone Edge to go nowhere, that is to say, now right on top of Torterra. Torterra fainted.

"This is tough..." Gardenia muttered, calling back Torterra. She sent out Jumpluff next. Whimsicott fired another Shadow Ball at Chandelure, which seemed to have caused it to faint. Two down, one to go, but Simisear was jumping everywhere; it was hard to keep it in one place.

"Wait! I have an idea! Whimsicott, let me rub my hair onto the cotton!" Shinrin called. Whimsicott, puzzled, looked strangely back at Shinrin. Shinrin grabbed Whimsicott, rubbed his hair on it, and suddenly felt a spark.

"Yes, this might work! Whimsicott, use Hurricane again!" Whimsicott nodded, and created its miniature tornado. The static electricity collected in the cotton moved to the tornado, and Whimsicott thrust it towards where it thought Simisear would go next. It missed, but barely, but it would work. The tornado burst, sending static electricity towards Simisear, making it lose its orientation, run into a tree, and fall to the ground. Jumpluff quickly struck with Bounce, which had been prepared before, and knocked out Simisear. After Erika called out a Ludicolo to use Rain Dance to put out the blaze, the crisis was over.

"Looks like we averted a catastrophe, but..." Shinrin began, solemnly, "...Sakura...where might Maxie be taking you?" He ushered to Whimsicott, who nodded, and went gliding into the sky.

"Please find Sakura, Whimsicott...I'm counting on you..."

I reached the HQ to find Emma sitting next to the door worried. She was twitching and panicking, and was really delighted to see me back. "How's Shinrin?" I asked. She told me that the news were actually covering the situation, and talked about a fire in the forest and some serious injuries among few people and Pokémon. Emma asked me to go and check whether Shinrin was alright, but I refused, asking Emma to trust Shinrin and his capabilities. I wasn't really worried about Shinrin, considering that he had two partners and many other skillful trainers with him, including two gym leaders. I couldn't also bother to investigate about Maxie, while I had another people to check. I asked Emma about her research, and following her, I went into her lab to see the results.

She handed in the reports and I started reading them. It was a shock. According to Emma's investigations, Galaventula and Whimsicott are Pokémon from the Unova region, as I predicted. It is impossible for these two to come to Sinnoh by their own, considering the very huge distance between the two regions. After consulting a lot of witnesses, it is confirmed that some unknown people were actually illegally trading these Pokémon. The two we caught are only a sample from hundreds of illegal Pokémon getting traded. Obviously, the selling prices are incredibly high. Going through the polluted water reports, it turned out that the cause was some sort of an illegal drug that hypnotizes who takes it. According to more witnesses, some strange people were cutting the trees to reach the lake and add the drug to the lake. The Pokémon were getting paralyzed and easily taken out of the lake and captured. After more through investigation done by Emma, it turned out that these captured Pokémon were taken to Unova, where most probably sold. By comparing the culprits of both the incidents, it turned out that the culprit is the same. The theory is that the culprit, which seems to be a large organization, is making an illegal trade between the Pokémon of Sinnoh and Unova, where those from Sinnoh are sold in Unova, and vice versa. The only thing that is noticed from the uniform of the culprits is a yellow 'G' in the middle of their gray and black shirts.

After discussing the matter with Emma, I received two emails.

Noelle hurried on, Eon right at her heels. They encountered a few more Geodude on the way, but Eon took care of them with her Shadow Ball. After a while, they reached a camp that the miners had set up further on the Route. Noelle went up to one of the miners. He appeared to be trying to lift a large amount of shovels and pick-axes, and was having trouble holding onto them all. Noelle ran forward and grabbed a couple of shovels that he'd dropped, doing her best not to wince as she bent over. Her back still hurt from the Graveler's Rock Throw.
"Hey, thanks." The miner said as Noelle handed the shovels to him. He looked at her uniform. "Hey, you must be a Ranger, here to help with that Ponyta."
Noelle nodded. "Do you know where it is?" She asked him.
"I'm afraid not. I only just arrived here, you see. I do know, however, that the attacking Pokemon need to be dealt with soon. It's impossible for us to get to the landslide."
"I see. Well, thanks anyway." Noelle was about to turn away, but then remembered something. "Oh, did another Ranger come through here earlier?
The miner didn't look as though he knew, but another miner, who was being followed by a Machop, spoke up.
"Yeah, another Ranger came through here some time ago. He went on ahead to see if he could help."
"By himself?" Noelle asked, puzzled and worried. She turned to Dylan. "We'd better go and find him."

Whimsicott came back to Eterna Forest late in the evening, with a somber look. Shinrin rushed to question him, but it was frightened and began to wimper. Erika and Gardenia walked up to Whimsicott.

"What's wrong? Did you see Sakura?" Gardenia asked. Whimsicott nodded.

"Where was she? Is she OK?" Erika asked. Whimsicott looked down, and began to cry. Erika patted Whimsicott on the back, while Shinrin knlet down, calming him.

"Where'd she go?" Shinrin asked, trying to stay as calm as possible. Whimsicott wiped his tears, and pointed up to the sky.

"What?" Erika asked, puzzled. "What do you mean?" Whimsicott continued to point up, and made hand gestures that looked like an airplane flying. Then he pointed sideways.

"Something about flying...flying...away...wait!" Shinrin shouted. "I first saw Maxie in Hoenn, and he tried to capture Sakura there. Could that mean...?" Shinrin gasped at the thought. It was impossible to believe, but the evidence seemed to match up. Sakura might be being brought to Hoenn, for some unknown reason.

"Th-this is terrible!" Gardenia shouted. "I'll go rally up the other trainers to fix base camp. Joey will be sent to the Pokemon Center to heal Turtwig. Shinrin and Erika, you two should probably get to Hoenn as soon as possible." Erika nodded in affirmative, but Shinrin had some second thoughts. He couldn't just get up and leave without anyone knowing. All of the other rangers were busy with their jobs, and Spirit was off somewhere...he wasn't sure what to do anymore, but he knew for sure that he couldn't leave the region without anyone knowing. Erika, however, called out her Tropius, wished Shinrin good luck, and flew off.

"So, Shinrin, what are you going to do?" Gardenia asked. Shinrin wondered for a moment. What could he do? He was helpless, but if he didn't act fast, he would lose all hope. He had no choice. He ran to the HQ as fast as he could, wrote a letter about his temporary leave and posted it on the bulletin board, and ran to Canalave. He got on the ferry to Hoenn, and waited. It was all he could do, and he hoped his colleagues could forgive him for leaving so suddenly.

Two mornings later, he arrived in Lilycove City. Until he found Maxie, he decided that he could stay with his parents until he tracked him down. Passing through Route 120, he looked back upon his hometown; he was shocked.

The city was in shambles. Military cars circumscribed the city, the air was more dense than he remembered, and the grass on the ground was lacking in life. Smoke darkened the sky, and nobody was outside. Shinrin knocked on the door of the military car, and an army man, about his height, jumped out, angry.

"What business do you have!? Get out! We do not need you here!" the man shouted. Shinrin held his arms up in defiance.

"Sorry if you misunderstood, but I need to visit my family..."

"Then state your name!" Shinrin did so, clearly and efficiently: "My name is Shinrin Nadur. My father is Shizen Nadur, and my mother is Tanabata Nadur."

Suddenly, the army man's legs bent, and his fists loosened. His angry expression soon turned somber, and he was holding back tears.

"Sh-sh-shinrin? It's...r-r-really y-y-you?" the man stuttered. Shinrin tilted his head in confusion.

"It's good to finally see you again...for the first time in 7 years...do you remember me?" he asked. Shinrin looked closely, but he couldn't see any resemblence he could recognize. He shaked his head.

"I didn't think so; I've changed greatly since we've last met. I'm Happa. Remember now?" Shinrin gasped, and tears began to form.

"Happa...? Are you...really and truly Happa...?" Happa nodded, smiling.

"You...you've changed so much! You were short and plump and frail when I last saw you...you've changed so much!"

"Indeed I have. I've been working to boost my physical fitness, after you left. I felt so bad when you left...I should have helped you with your problems with Yuri. Is that why you left?"

"Yes, but it's become obvious that I cannot avoid me...that's right, she followed me all the way to Sinnoh. I came here because Maxie took my Cherrim, Sakura, back in the Eterna Forest. You wouldn't have happened to see any Charizard around here, have you?"

"I-I have, actually! They landed a little bit from here, and that's why the military has set up here. Team Magma has been making life miserable for us, and we're trying to resist them, but their influence is really getting to the people. The only people that seem to be advocating their removal from our presence are the Gym Leader, your parents, my parents, me, and the officials of Fortree. Everyone else has been pulled into Maxie's grasp. But if you're looking for your Cherrim, I think I saw him carrying some small, pink Pokemon into that cave in the water over there." Shinrin nodded, gave him his thanks, and ran over towards the cave, wondering why Maxie would take Sakura to Scorched Slab, a cave that has absolutely nothing in it.

Dylan looked at Noelle and nodded, then went onwards. After a while Dylan saw a large group of Geodude and Graveler and turned to Noelle and said, "Wait here, I don't like the looks of this, I'm going to go take a look..."

He walked up to the large group of angered pokemon with caution as he saw someone get tackeled by a Geodude. "Milotic, Surf! Hold them off so I can get to that person!"

He waited until Milotic cleared out a few of them and ran forwards to help him. "Are you Ok?!?" He asked.

I immediately took out a flashlight from my backpack and instructed Eevee to remain by my side at all times. It was quite difficult to see our direction through the fog, and the route required a lot of traveling up and going down, which only aggravated the situation.

After several minutes of navigating through the route with a sense of blindness, I heard the sounds of my footsteps and consequently knew that I was now walking along the wooden bridge over the waterfall. When I crossed it, my eye met a young trainer just before the stairs which lead down to the grassy area. I instantly felt a spark of hope ignite in my heart.

"Hey there!" I called the trainer. He looked around, saw my Ranger uniform, and apparently recognized the troubled look on my face. He was a small boy with a curious expression.
"I like Pokémon Rangers! They protect nature and Pokémon against all sorts of harm!" the boy exclaimed. It seemed pretty clear that he was fond of Rangers.
"It's nice of you to say that, but I'm really in a hurry, and I was wondering: can you help me cross this route without being lost in the fog?" I was feeling a little skeptical of the boy's credibility considering his young experience, but then he replied, with a tone of unbelievability in his voice:
"Me? Help a Ranger? Of course I can! My Zubat happens to know Defog, and if you want then I can accompany you to the end of the route. I wanna be on a real adventure!"

I couldn't describe my feelings at that moment - what was up with this lucky streak of mine? Despite that, and without any hesitation, I replied: "Yes, yes you can. But hurry up! There are lives of people at stake over here!"

The boy trainer summoned his Zubat from a PokéBall and ordered it to flap its wings to Defog the area. His age belied his experience in handling Pokémon, as I was surprised to see a look of determination and skillfulness on his face. It was interesting to know how you could easily misjudge someone from their apparent characteristics only.

In almost no time we were walking across the patches of grass, with Zubat flying beside us and fluttering its wings tirelessly. Gusts of wind blew the fog in front of us away so that our vision became clear. A series of random thoughts struck my mind at that time: what if the guy before Eterna Forest never had a Roselia (which knew Cut)? What if I never got to meet this small trainer in this difficult time? Surely it was a work of fate, a divine power beyond the limitations of human beings, but there had to be reasons which lead on to the fate of someone.

These philosophical thoughts kept on dwelling in my mind, and that kept me silent for most of our journey. A researcher's job for ten years definitely makes you a lot more inquisitive, and you would be doing yourself injustice by ignoring these challenging thoughts. The young trainer seemed to notice how occupied I looked, and he couldn't be blamed: we have already entered Route 215 and I didn't say a word to him.

"Well then, that's the end of the line for me. I hope I helped!"
"Oh, you have no idea how much you did. Thanks a lot."

But then I felt a guilt inside of me. Something was telling me to say a few extra words to the boy-

"Um... would you like to continue with me on my quest?" I instantly knew I didn't need any response. The boy's face gleamed with delight as he nodded to me, and so my feeling of guilt disappeared.
"By the way, my name's Shadow," I felt like I needed to point that out as we ran through Route 215, where it was raining.
"And I'm Zack, nice to meet you!"

Perhaps if it was for other people, they would've complained about the rain. But for me, I enjoyed every single drop which fell on my body. It gave me a sense of relaxation and coolness, but that was not everything: it was a very welcome sign for Water-type Pokémon, my favourite out of all Pokémon types. It was due to that that it took us only 10 minutes to cross this long Route, and soon we were entering Veilstone City.

The feelings of urgency started to return back to me now. As I stepped on the cement ground, I picked up even more speed and ran straight towards the intoxicated warehouse. Eevee ran alongside with Zack on his left, and the smell of poison slowly started to become stronger. When I reached the warehouse door, I ordered Eevee to Tackle it and it easily opened. And then I saw what I saw...

Shinrin swam to the hollow, yet muggy cave in the middle of the lake near Fortree. Surfacing, he climbed onto the stone hard ground, making as little sound as possible, as he saw Maxie, with his arms clutched onto the struggling Sakura, who cried with pain. Whimsicott whimpered slightly, but Shinrin shushed him as he slowly advanced on Maxie, but he couldn't help but notice that there was another, familiar looking man standing next to him, with arms folded.

Shinrin walked closer and closer, but he noticed that the figure of Maxie and the other mysterious man were getting shorter and shorter. He suddenly felt disoriented, and he realized that he was floating. Whimsicott was as well. Maxie and the mysterious man turned around, shocked when they saw Shinrin so close behind.

"You! You will not get this Cherrim!" Maxie shouted. The other man threw a Pokeball, mysteriously discolored, being completely black. It opened, releasing a dark light, which, when it dissipated, revealed a strange Pokemon, that again, Shinrin had never seen before. Shinrin looked behind him for help, and he saw nothing but the person who had tormented him. The two men in front of him were delighted by her appearance, remarking that they were glad that they didn't need to have anything to do with battling this Ranger anymore.

"Yuri, how nice of you to join us!" shouted the delighted mystery man. She walked past Shinrin without much of a glance, her Wormadam's eyes glowing blue, staring at Shinrin. It appeared that it was using Psychic, keeping Shinrin helpless in the air.

"Sorry I'm late...I encountered a little more trouble than I anticipated...but I succeeded in one of the captures, yes," Yuri said. Maxie smiled, pleased. "Good to hear. After all, I told those grunts in Team Galactic to put maximum security on the planes, and to put all the Pokemon in one plane, but they insisted to put them all on different planes. At least you got one...which one was it?"

"I caught Beheeyem, the Psychic type. Of course, there's 16 others out there somewhere, so I suppose we'd better get someone to find them, but I'm just tired...I suppose..." Yuri gave a sly glance to Shinrin. "If we got someone on the inside, we could use that to our advantage..." Shinrin immedeately knew what she was thinking, and struggled to move. However, Wormadam's Psychic had him completely fixed into place.

"I see. I heard Beheeyem had the ability to rewrite one's memories. We could make it so his memories are all of him serving Team Galactic! That way, he'll do all of the dirty work for us, and we'll soon proceed in bringing out the release of the mythical Pokemon! Using that, no one will have any power over us, and the world will soon fall into our clutches!"

Shinrin couldn't believe what he was hearing. Could it be possible that Team Magma and Team Galactic were in a symbiotic relationship to take down the world? Shinrin glanced to Whimsicott, who was also fixed in place, but Wormadam's hold was getting weaker. Whimsicott was just strong enough to move his arms.

"But I say, Maxie, it was clever of you to lure Shinrin here! I'm thoroughly impressed," Yuri said, smiling. Maxie chuckled, and then had Yuri proceed with what she needed to do. She released another Pokemon, the Beheeyem, that was completely entangled with some sort of machine that bore some sort of dark energy. It's eyes glowed with a deep red color, and drifted towards Whimsicott. Suddenly it hit him that Whimsicott must have been one of the Pokemon that escaped. Beheeyem held up its arm, made a strange, high pitched noise, and a dark ball of energy began to form. Shinrin looked behind him, the Wormadam struggling to keep its Psychic up. Whimsicott was becoming mobile.

"Whimsicott, use Shadow Ball...hurry!" Shinrin whispered. Whimsicott began to charge its own dark ball of energy at the tips of his fingers, and thrust it backwards at Wormadam. Hit, Wormadam stopped her Psychic attack, and Shinrin and Whimsicott fell down. Beheeyem quickly released a bolt of dark energy towards Whimsicott. Shinrin jumped to save him, but it was too late. The force of impact thrust Shinrin backwards to the cave wall. Maxie, Yuri, and the mystery man stood in awe as Whimsicott writhed under the influence of darkness. Its memories were becoming altered. Shinrin jumped for him, but Wormadam, having regain its strength, stopped him with Psychic.

And he felt helpless there, Sakura held in the arms of the enemy, Whimsicott under Beheeyem's power, and Shinrin, floating helplessly. He began to cry, as all seemed lost.

Or so he thought. A huge wave came up from the cave enterance, and there, surfing, was a Ludicolo, and his trainer...

Checking the emails, it turned out that both of them were two new missions. I forwarded them to the mission board outside in the main lobby, left Emma to continue on her work, and went outside to check the content of these new missions. When I reached the board, I found a small paper, folded properly and kept on the shelf. I knew it was a letter, and thus, I opened it to find out that the sender was Shinrin. Surprised, I read all the way through the latter, which explained thoroughly the incident Shinrin faced, and how his Cherrim was kidnapped and taken to Hoenn. Although I was a bit disappointed to know that one of my rangers is far away while there is a lot of work, I understood his situation.
In order to help him, I contacted Hoenn's Ranger Headquarter in Mauville City. I explained to them the situation Shinrin was in, and asked them to hurry up in helping him. It was the only thing I could do. After dealing with that, I looked back at the mission board to see the list of missions there. I saw the same old mission that no one took yet:
Quote:
Title: Hearthome is haunted!
Description: Rangers! Ghosts are everywhere! They are living in the PokéContest building! Several people are missed! No one saw them yet, but please, save us! Contests are paused and everyone is in panic."
Location: Hearthome City
Rank: C
Along with that, I saw the other two new missions:
Quote:
Title: Valley Windworks is under an attack!
Description: Mysterious people, wearing strange clothes of black and gray, and a letter 'G' as a symbol, attacked the Windworks. They were witnessed by the people of Floaroma, and said that they were lead by a lady with red colored hair. It is confirmed that the fifteen people who work in the Windworks are currently taken as hostages. Three policemen, who went for rescue, were knocked out and taken as hostages too.
Location: Sinnoh, Valley Windworks
Rank: A
Quote:
Title: Onslaught on Fuego Ironworks!
Description: A purple haired lady snuck into Fuego Ironworks. She had twenty, or so, of men following her. The only thing that made them distinguished is a letter 'G' marked on their clothes. Several screams from workers were heard along with a minor explosion.
Location: Sinnoh, Fuego Ironworks
Rank: A
It was unbelievable to see such crimes happening in Sinnoh. What was more astonishing is that the culprits of both the incidents were the same. Not only that, but their characteristics matched the same people who were mentioned in Emma's reports. With such kind of tense, I called for Blade and Lav, and off I went out of the HQ to reach Valley Windworks quickly. On my way, I hoped that Shadow would come back quickly and do the other mission, since he was the only one who could do it.

The huge wave came down upon the people in the Scorched Slab, thus knocking Wormadam over, releasing Whimsicott and Shinrin from her Psychic hold, and Beheeyem was also knocked, though it seemed to have no effect on the machine that held its body. Whimsicott fell to the ground, stunned by the dark electricity.

"Whimsicott! Whimsicott!" Shinrin yelled, panicked. Whimsicott lay there, dormant. Shinrin cast a glance at Maxie, Yuri, and the mysterious man. The had all been knocked over, though not unconscious, but Sakura had manage to squeeze out of Maxie's hold. Shinrin hugged Sakura close and apologized.

"I'm sorry...I'm so, so, sorry, Sakura...please forgive me, I'm so sorry..."

"Shinrin, are you all right!?" called the man who came in. He looked to the enterance to the Scorched Slab. It was Happa.

"Happa, thanks!" Shinrin called. He glanced back again, but it seemed like Maxie, Yuri and the mysterious man had regained their composure. So had Beheeyem, and Wormadam too. Happa noticed this, and he had his Ludicolo use Ice Beam on Wormadam. With a successful hit, Wormadam became frozen solid.

"You!" Maxie shouted. "You'll never leave this place alive! Go, Crobat!" Maxie threw another Pokeball, from which a Crobat emerged.

"Crobat, Air Slash on the enterance ceiling!" Maxie commanded. Crobat formed a sphere of air, and shot it, the sphere disconnecting and forming many sharp discuses of air. The hit the ceiling, and the cave enterance began to collapse.

But oddly enough, the rocks soon stopped falling, and were completely suspended in air. A Magnezone rushed in, the antenna on the top of its head glowing with electrical energy. A Ranger rode in on a Lanturn, and a Rotom floating beside him. He jumped off Lanturn, and smiled smugly.

"Shinrin, I presume? Good. I'll take care of things here."

Shinrin nodded. Clearly, this Ranger was very experienced. "Don't worry, I'm certified. I was told by Spirit that you were in trouble, so I'll give you any assistance I can." Soon, a Tropius flew in as well. Erika stood atop it.

"Shinrin, thank goodness you're okay!" Erika called. Maxie, Yuri, and the mysterious man were officially outnumbered. Maxie's Crobat alone couldn't face the power of a Magnezone, Rotom, Lanturn, Tropius, and Cherrim combined. So three did the only thing they could.

"Beheeyem, Teleport," Yuri said. The three and their Pokemon disappeared immedeately. The only thing the rest could do was pick up what they could and left the Scorched Slab. Whimsicott was still unconscious from Beheeyem's attack, and all Shinrin could do was hope that its attack didn't alter Whimsicott's memories enough for it to matter...

Mission:
Rank: A
Blade and Lav noticed the serious look I had on my face. I was really angry to see the conditions that miserable. I was trying to imagine what would be the situation in the Windworks, but no matter how much I tried to set a plan or two, I found out that such a mission was too hard. I was in the need of support from other forces, but my rangers were all out on duty. It appeared to me to be a hopeless situation. However, since it was my job as a ranger to go and rescue all those who were harmed, I continued rushing my way through without any hesitation.

Along the way of Route 204, I noticed the absence of the usual trainers. There weren't any people outside playing or battling. It was disturbingly calm. Considering such a moment, I concluded that the problem ahead was that dangerous, that people were scarce outside.

As I approached the colorful entrance of Floaroma Town, I found five men standing and blocking the way to the town. Their characteristics matched those who were reported, which meant that these were the criminals. Facing these cruel men, was a man who wore a long brown coat. He had a Croagunk next to him. This Croagunk was battling with five Zubat. It was a hard job, since it was getting attacked by Wing Attacks from all over the place. I was afraid it would faint, thus, I ordered Blade to join the battle, while I remained hidden behind a tree. Blade used Growl, driving all Zubat's attention towards it. To their surprise, they found no one, but only their Attack stat reduced. Blade then appeared suddenly from behind using Teleport and used Double Team. Four copies of it appeared, and for sure, the Zubat were confused. One of them was ordered to use Supersonic to figure out the real one. But as this Zubat reached Blade, he was already inflicting Confusion on it. Seeing his Zubat fainted, the grunt called it back while another Zubat was preparing to Bite Blade. Luckily, that Croagunk jumped and attacked with Sucker Punch to send the Zubat to the fence fainted. Three Zubat were remaining, and they looked really aggressive. Two of them launched a huge attack of Poison Stings while the third started attacking with Leech Life. Multiple needles of several effects were dropping down from the sky. The poor Blade and Croagunk were unable to do anything but to try their best to evade these moves. It was hopeless, but then Croagunk used Mud Bomb swiftly, hitting one the Zubat and causing a cloud of mud. The Zubat stopped attacking since they couldn't see properly. Blade took it as a chance to use Confusion and send one of the Zubat to its Pokéball fainted. The other one fainted with a strong hit of Croagunk's Sucker Punch. As the cloud of mud disappeared to the ground, we found the third Zubat trying its best to continue flying with Lav Biting one of its wings. Croagunk used Faint Attack and defeated the last Zubat while Lav dropped to the ground.

The five grunts were astonished and terrified to see their Pokémon fainted. They quickly turned back to escape, but found Croagunk in front of them using Swagger. They all started dozing off confused, and the strange man took it as a chance to tie them all. Once he was done, he stood quietly, turned back into my direction and shouted, "You over there! Wherever you are, show yourself!" I appeared out of my hideout and went to him. Blade and Lav hurried to my side. Asking for my identity, he was glad to know that I was a ranger who cam to rescue the hostages and stop the criminals. He also explained to me that he was an International Police officer, named Looker. He told me that the three policemen captured are his men, and that he was hardly able to escape the Windworks. I asked him about the culprits to reveal to me even more information than what we already knew.

He told me the name of this mysterious organization, calling it 'Team Galactic'. He was aware of the illegal trade and the incident of Lake Valor, stating that their reason of this trade was to gain millions of money. However, he didn't know the reason behind their attempts of getting this amount of money. After all of this, we agreed to cooperate with each other in finishing this mission. And together, we stepped into Floaroma Town.

After leaving the Scorched Slab, the two Rangers, Erika, and Happa decided that Whimsicott would best benefit from a nice, long bed rest. Shinrin decided he would bring Whimsicott to his parents' house. Upon returning, he was given a warm welcome home and love embraces, but Shinrin was far mor concerned at Whimsicott's condition and could not be shaken from it.

"Whimsicott, hang in there..." Shinrin whispered, his hand snagged tightly to Whimsicott's. The other Ranger stood.

"I called Nurse Joy to come in, soon. Things should be fine. I suppose I have no more need to be here, so if you need me, I'll be back in a jiffy."

"Sure. Thanks, I owe you one," Shinrin said solemnly. Erika had gone home as well, so it was just Shinrin, Happa, and Shinrin's parents in the house that night. Nurse Joy appeared after some time, with her Chansey.

"Chansey, use Heal Pulse," Nurse Joy said as soon as she arrived. Chansey hopped over to Whimsicott and luminescent circles pulsated from Chansey's body. Whimsicott seemed to glow in the fine light as well. When the move finished, Whimsicott's eyes began to open.

And only when they were open did Shinrin see that something was terribly wrong...

By time the agitated Pokemon had been swept away, Matthew was already unconcious. Quick analysis by a nearby worker revealed that he had two large cuts on his chest, a broken leg, and numerous fractured ribs. The worker called for an ambulence.

---------------
Matthew's parents had been informed of the news almost immediately, and they sped to the hospital. He was in surgery for several hours, and when the nurse came to tell the news, they knew something was wrong.
The doctors were too late to save their son, who died of a punctured lung and massive internal bleeding.

Whimsicott stood up, disoriented, and began to look around at the relieved people. Shinrin crawled up to Whimsicott. "Are you alright?" Shinrin asked.

Whimsicott jumped, frightened, and fled out the door. Shinrin chased after Whimsicott, but Whimsicott was too fast for him. He glided far away from him. It was clear to Shinrin now that Whimsiocott didn't remember who Shinrin was. Sakura continued to chase after him, but with little effect. Whimsicott looked back every now and then to make sure he wasn't being chased. Shinrin knelt down and cried. Where would Whimsicott go?

A few days later, Shinrin arrived back at the Ranger HQ in Sinnoh. He wanted to just flop down on his bed and sleep, but he couldn't. He saw a note on the bulliten board left there by medical officials. He opened it up, as it appeared that nobody else was back from their missions, including Spirit. He pulled the note, whose contents informed that one of the rangers named Matthew had died in a mission-related accident. Shinrin nodded somberly, thinking of how much worse his day could get, and notified Spirit via email. Shinrin figured that he might as well take regular procedures and talk to Matthew's parents and return his possesions to them as the Ranger Accident Procedure stated...

Just like Route 204, Floaroma Town was deserted as well. All kinds of houses and shops were completely closed, including the windows. No one stepped out in the roads. It looked more disturbing when we saw the flowers along the main road crushed and uprooted, something that the people of Floaroma Town would never do. I was disturbed to see the town in such a state, especially that the flower shop in the middle of the town had its front glass broken, but was empty nevertheless. I wanted to walk in the town and check if someone can help us, but Officer Looker was against it. He was really a very hyper man, who couldn't stand still but had to always rush through. I stressed on him not to rush and cross the wooden bridge to Route 205, but he was really stubborn. He wanted to hurry to the Windworks without even checking the condition of the town! I was enraged to work with such a hot-headed man, but unfortunately, I couldn't but cooperate with hims since I needed him, despite his personality being the opposite of my laziness. When he was going forward while I am following him to the bridge, we were called with a soft voice, "Please! Don't proceed!"
It was Nurse Joy, who came out of the empty but open PokéCenter. "The bridge ahead has some explosives attached to it. Those mean grunts out them. They are ready to explode once someone lays a foot on the bridge." Shocked, we retreated back while I was secretly happy for winning against Looker's point of view. We asked her about the details of the incidence, in which she told us how Team Galactic destroyed the town and threatened everyone not to go out of their houses. She also told us about the explosions, being controlled by a remote control which was held by a grunt who stayed in Floaroma Town. However, he was not the only one who stayed, but two other grunts remained as well. When the investigation with Nurse Joy was done, Looker and I concluded that we had to look for those three grunts, defeat them, and take back the remote control in order to remove the explosions. Despite the fact that we didn't know what their location was, Looker pointed out that they would be in a place in which they could have a clear view of the bridge. Thus, off we went to Floaroma Meadow...

Shinrin made his way to the Jubilife hospital, already bustling with news reporters and ambulances. A Ranger death was a big deal - it's not every day that something like this happens. Shinrin made his way through the unruly crowd, denying all interviews and investigations into the matter. It was a thing that only Matthew's parents and the Rangers could be involved in.

Walking through the corridors, Shinrin began to tense up. He was worried about what he might face in his parents; would they understand the circumstances of Matthew's death? Would they be angry? And worst yet...could they really hold a grudge against us for not taking enough proper measures to completely guarantee Matthew's safety? It would have to be suppressed, as Shinrin turned the corner, he saw two mourning people, sitting outside the first closed door in the hospital that Shinrin had seen. He timidly walked up to them.

"You're...Matthew's parents...right?" Shinrin said. Matthew's father nodded somberly. Matthew's mother seemed to be dying inside.

"I'm so very sorry...about what happened...we didn't take enough proper measures, and...just..."

"It's alright, I understand...it's just that-" Matthew's father started, but Matthew's mother stood up and ceased crying. She glared angrily at Shinrin. She spat in Shinrin's face, and slapped him. Sakura growled shortly, but a quick glance from Matthew's mother scared her.

"Now do you see what you've done!?" she spat. "You've taken an innocent young man and made him your tool! You've put him in danger, and you see what happened! You've completely and utterly destroyed him!"

"I-I didn't think the Pokemon would have attacked him that severely! I-" Before Shinrin could finish, he was slapped again, knocking Shinrin down.

"I don't want to hear any of your excuses! You and your entire HQ! You're evil! I'll have your entire organization destroyed!" With the closing remarks, the mother ran off crying and bawling. Matthew's father remained.

"I...I'm sorry, Ranger, she get's..." Matthew's father murmured. Shinrin wiped the spit off of his face. Once he did that, he handed the man a box with Matthew's things.

"Oh, thank you...there's just one more thing..."

Shinrin immediately realized what needed to be done. He still wouldn't get any rest, for a new mission was about to begin.

"Where's Matthew's partner Pokemon? Where's Bolt?"

As I entered the meadow, Shinrin called me telling me the terrific news of Mathew's death. He informed me that he already gave his belongings to his parents, who acted in a vicious manner. I apologized from him since he took my position in terms of facing the parents, explaining to him the current position I am in and the mission I am facing. During that, Shinrin told me about Bolt, and requested me for permission to go and search for it. After a minute of silence, I allowed him to do so, telling him to go to where the accident occurred since he would find Bolt there. I also asked him to finish that mission since for a ranger like him, it should be quite easy. I insisted not to take a lot of time in such a mission since a harder mission was waiting for him posted on the mission board. Agreeing, Shinrin ended the call and proceeded.
Looker was blabbering about a plan, but I couldn't grasp any of it since my mind was still away with Mathew who tragically died. I couldn't bear such news since after all, it was my responsibility as a leader to ensure the safety of my rangers. I knew I was going to get scolded by the heads of the HQ...
It was after a while until I woke up from my deep thoughts when Looker shook me hardly. Briefly, he reexplained the plan, in which we were going to separate and search for the three grunts. We agreed to meet at the entrance of the meadow once we achieved something.
I proceeded on my way with Blade and Lav. We stayed silent and walked slowly in order not to show our presence. The search continued for an hour, or even more, as the meadow was quite big. I couldn't believe that this was only half of the meadow! As I walked quietly, I saw one leg stretched out from behind a huge boulder. I realized that this was one of the three grunts, so I looked at my partners to prepare a sudden and surprising attack...

"The scene of the accident...loks like there was lots of damage done here."

Shinrin observed the site, completely intrigued. It looked like a huge battle had taken place; rubble lay about the scene, and there wasn't a Pokemon to be found. He poked around, finding shards of rock here and there, but there was no sign of Bolt. "Maybe...Bolt may have fled, startled by all of the commotion..." Shinrin thought. He moved huge boulders that were knocked around, only to find nothing under. He listened in the air; not a sound resonated in the clean, crisp air.

"This is odd...but where would Bolt have gone? I checked the HQ before I came here and I didn't see anyone there..." Shinrin pondered. Sakura walked around moving small stones, and suddenly started jumping up and down, pointing at something. Shinrin ran over to her and examined what she found.

It was a small, wallet sized picture case. Shinrin picked it up, undid the latch, and opened it. And there was a picture of a young Matthew, with Bolt on his shoulder, both very happy and carefree. Shinrin closed it up and put it in his pocket. If Bolt had such a strong relationship with his now deceased trainer, it must be waiting here for him to return.

"Bolt! Where are you?" Shinrin called. His voice resonated in the wind, but there was no response. Shinrin kept searching around, but no sign. Sakura, however, perked her head up and looked in one direction, in a newly created indentation in the mountain caused by whatever happened here.

"Shinx?" came a voice from the indentation. Shinrin heard the sound, and jumped into the indentation. A dirt-stained and frightened Shinx fled to the back of the indentation, its cheeks sparking.

"My gosh...this damage...how could this happen? How could such a dangerous Rock Slide happen anyways? How is this possible, it couldn't possibly have been a storm. So who...or what...caused this?"

Suddenly, a voice came from behind.

"That would probably...be me." Shinrin looked behind, and did a double-take.

"Nice to see you again, Shinrin. We seem to be seeing a lot of each other, recently," said Yuri, smirking, her Wormadam and Beheeyem beside her.

Lav started the task with Sandstorm, decreasing the vision and surprising the grunt. He quickly stood up, like a spring, and looked around to check what was happening. In the mean time, I wore a mask to prevent sand from entering my windpipe, while Blade was able to stop the sand using his psychic powers. Although the vision wasn't really clear, the grunt was able to see my silhouette, taking out two Pokéballs and throwing them, releasing two Pokémon: Zubat and Stunky. Facing a dark typed Pokémon wasn't my favorite, but I had to.

The battle started with Zubat launching a Wing Attack at both Blade and Lav. While Blade was able to evade it, Lav failed, getting struck critically by Zubat's unfolded wings. Thankfully, his natural solid defenses were able to keep Lav healthy enough. As a counter-attack, Blade used Confusion, but then met a strong Slash from his Stunky. Lav was still small and only knew Bite, which wasn't really helpful. However, his reckless nature caused him to continually rush and try to use Bite, while the two foes continued to evade him. Later, Stunky used Smokescreen, blinding both of my Pokémon. Along with, Zubat used Supersonic to confuse Blade and Lav, and then started attacking with Leech Life.

I saw my Pokémon dropping gradually to the floor. Lav, after a while, fainted, while Blade continued to resist. At that point, Stunky used Poison Gas, to add a rich purple fume to the already pitch black smoke. The smell was so grotesque that I had to jump away, feeling sorry for the two, who were captured by this stinky smell. It seemed that the whole meadow was irritated by the smell, that the grass started to move and as a result, two Beautifly appeared from one tree and started flapping their wings. The smoke and sand rose up slowly and cleared away due to the Gusts, and in no time, every thing was clear again, allowing my Pokémon to breathe some fresh air again. Cursing, the grunt ordered his Zubat to attack the two Beautifly, leaving an opening. Blade took the chance and struck with Confusion, laying a critical hit and dropping Zubat fainted. The grunt was surprised, while the Beautifly looked offended. Then, both of them attacked the Stunky with Gust and Absorb, to finally make him fainted.

The grunt started stepping back slowly and the Beautifly flew away. He was trying to run when Blade blocked his way with Double Team. Then, a small Confusion and the grunt fell down, trembling with fear. I took out a rope from my bag and tied him hard. After reviving Lav, I approached him and asked for the switch of the bomb. Although he was afraid, he continued to say that it wasn't with him, despite the threats. Believing him, I held him from the back and pulled him with me, in order to meet Looker and discuss it with him...

(God! This mission took much longer than I expected, but it was out of my control. Not only do I have a really busy life, VR was experiencing frequent downtime whenever I wanted to do this post. FINALLY I'll be able to conclude the mission!)

If I had to come up with an appropriate analogy to describe the situation which I witnessed, it would involve all the horrid things in life; three workers were almost completely covered in the slimy, purple bodies of Grimer and Muk, the atmosphere filled with a thick, toxic gas and the floor covered in a viscous, poisonous liquid. Although I feared that the gas will leak to Veilstone City, I had no choice but to leave the door of the warehouse open so that I don't suffocate. Almost simultaneously, I ordered my Eevee to take quick action.

At first, the disgusting Pokémon did not notice my presence, but as soon as I shouted: "Eevee, Dig your way downwards immediately!" one Grimer crept aside and gave me a threatening look. Before it could do anything, my Eevee re-appeared and hit it directly on the spot. Since Grimer doesn't have a quick movement nor good defenses, the strike was enough to take it down, at least temporarily. It was at that precise moment that Muk, which made the remaining Grimer look like a dwarfed version of it, gazed straight into my eyes with a defiant expression.

The situation turned out to be much more serious than I imagined when Muk attacked Eevee with a powerful move, Poison Jab. Although my Eevee narrowly missed it, it was not all good news; the other Grimer was intelligent enough to launch another Poison Jab attack, which hit Eevee's back. Eevee let out a deafening growl out of pain, and I instantaneously ran to him to see if he got poisoned. Fortunately, he was still healthy but his physical endurance was quickly draining. When I held him in my hands and patted him, my warmth seemed to recharge him with energy. He leaped out of my hands and looked determined to take down the leader of the gang.

The next couple of moments proved to me how strong and loyal my partner was. Acting of its own accord, Eevee started by creating multiple illusions of itself through Double Team, therefore confusing the Grimer and Muk who started attacking randomly everywhere. The real Eevee carefully approached the nervous-looking Grimer from behind, and then I was taken off by surprise when Eevee used Return, a move which he never knew! Because I could feel the deepness of our connection together - the result of 10 years of companionship - the blow was pretty powerful for Grimer to handle, and it soon rendered it unconscious. Taking this as a chance, I launched myself into the dying men for saving them out of their sufferance.

I rummaged through my backpack hastily and grabbed the Potions, tilting them so that their healing liquid poured into the first of the three men. He was twitching and moaning in pain, but I tried to comfort him by promising that everything will be alright. Noticing that Muk was paying full attention to Eevee, I made a run to the door of the warehouse - with the man in my hands - and laid him outside. Shouting: "Somebody, anybody, take this dying man away from here!", I went inside again to find Muk furious with Eevee's newly-found energy. My heart skipped a beat when I noticed that it was using Brick Break, a very threatening move for my Eevee! I was torn between helping Eevee or the remaining men, but Eevee was showing real determination in taking Muk out. Reassured, I ran to heal the other two men.

The second man looked in a less miserable situation than the first, but it was clear that he was suffocating. Using the Potion's liquid to free him from the poisoning, he suddenly returned back to life and opened his eyes, thanking me for saving him. However, he quickly paused when he noticed Muk's presence, and upon ordering him to flee, he obeyed without haste. He held the last man in his hands, took the last Potion bottle from me, and made it outside the warehouse while Muk was distracted. It was probably the sight of the running man which made Muk boil with anger; he used Screech on Eevee, causing him to fall on the floor from nausea. I knew then that I had to intervene.

Without giving thought to what I was going to say, I screamed: "Muk, you gross moving mass of ugliness!" at the top of my voice. Of course, Muk didn't understand, but it obviously recognized the insulting tone in my statement. Aggravated, it crept on the floor and produced extra doses of Poison Gas, making my windpipe feel almost constricted. I covered my mouth and nose with my palm tightly, then hauled a heavy box of sports equipment with the other hand and threw it at Muk. It almost escaped untouched if it wasn't for its bulky movement, causing a good part of its slimy body to splash the place and get 'separated'. While Muk let out horrible noises depicting fury, I ran to Eevee and held it in my arms, pleading for him to collect himself and fight back under the poisonous smell of the gas. He was my only hope in exterminating Muk.

Struck with terror at the sight of Eevee's unconsciousness and his inability to respond, I almost lost hope in defeating Muk. I could no longer hold my breath back, and the gas was slowly leaking into my body. I felt my body swaying, but at that precise moment, the men whom I saved broke into the warehouse with two Bronzong by their sides. The first used Confuse Ray on Muk, and the second struck it with a powerful Psychic that caused it to faint. I did not know what happened next, for I already fell on the floor by then-

When I woke up, I could taste a warm liquid being forced into my throat, which was a concentrated Potion liquid. I felt life return back to me immediately, with many people staring at me. "Where's Eevee?" I asked. Then I heard the healthy growl of Eevee which I was used to, and he appeared beside me and started to lick my cheek. When I got up, I noticed that there was a group of people staring at me. One of the warehouse workers then spoke up:

"Thank you for saving our lives. It is something that we will never forget."
"Oh, you repaid the favour already by healing me and Eevee, right?" I smiled.
"Well, it was extremely tough for a Pokémon like Eevee to take on two Grimer and a monstrous Muk, but he faired quite well against them."

And then, the man started a notion of "Shadow is the hero! Long live Pokémon Rangers!" which the crowd happily cheered. I was glad to have successfully done the mission under the tough circumstances, and I knew that my job in Veilstone was complete after that!

Soon after that battle, I reached the entrance of the meadow with that grunt with me, dragged harshly. I was exhausted. Few minutes of waiting, and Looker appeared from far away holding yet another grunt. Both of them insisted that they didn't have the switch of the bomb, but was with the third grunt. Looker searched them and was sure then that they were saying the truth. Disappointed and panicked, we decided to figure out the whereabouts of the third grunt.

After some thinking, Looker suggested to search next to the bank of the river, since it would be the best place to get a good look at the bridge. His suggestion seemed logical. Therefore, I ran quickly, but silently, across the shore of the river, while Looker stayed to guard the two grunts. As I got closer to the bridge, a swift shadow jumped from the bushed aside and Slashed Blade. Lav, as a counter-attack, rushed to Bite that Glameow, but it was too fast for him to hit. It easily evaded the attack and used Hypnosis, dropping Lav asleep. In the mean time, Blade recovered from the surprise and used Confusion, yet again, Glameow avoided the move and hit back with Faint Attack. It seemed a hopeless case, especially that this cat seemed stronger than both of my Pokémon.

Laughter vibrated from behind the trees and a lady appeared from behind them, wearing like any other Galactic grunt. She was more confident, however. "You are finished, young man. Glameow, tear him apart!" And without any hesitation, Glameow charged on me. It snuck next to me, suddenly became invisible and from the back scratched me. I never imagined Faint Attack to be that hard to stop. Then, it jumped high and sharpened its claws to lay some serious Fury Swipes on my face. It was then when Lav jumped high and guarded me with his tough, rocked body. Glameow growled in pain. Its claws weren't able to harm Lav. In return, Lav Screeched casing one heck of a nose. Taking his chance, Blade used Double Team and a group of illusions circled Glameow. It wasn't that strong move against Glameow though, since with its swift movements, it was able to break all of the imaginary bodies. Realizing that she was cornered, the grunt ordered her cat to use hypnosis as her final resort against Blade.

This psychic move successfully hypnotized Blade, who fell down asleep. However, unexpectedly, Blade's body ejected some sort of a fume that engulfed Glameow, which fell asleep too. It was his ability, Synchronize! The grunt was actually shocked that she took out the switch and decided to press it! Luckily, a Croagunk appeared from nowhere and attacked with Sucker Punch, throwing the switch away and then catching it. It turned out Looker was on the move following me. He tied both the grunt and her Pokémon, and left them next to her two companions. Finished with these troublesome three, I used Awakening on Blade, and along with Looker, I went all the way around to reach the bridge...
