Ho-oh. Lugia, while being awesome, just doesn't really get my attention. A rainbow coloured bird that spits fire though? Oh yeah. That and I grew up with Gold.

Tough decision. I didn't pick Silver over Gold for the bird, I picked it for the cartridge... If I had to pick though, it'd be Lugia anyways.

Definitely has to be Lugia. A few reasons why... One: I'm Silver biased. Two: It has a movie around it... *thinks of Lugia's song and gets goosebumps*

I grew up with silver, so I choose Lugia. But, Ho-oh is a lot better than before because now you can actually have move relearner.
And Aeroblast blows sacred fire out of the water in silver...so ya...

Lugia. Both have good Sp. Defense but Lugia also gains in defense. Lugia learns Hydro Pump which kills Ho-oh. Ho-oh kan learn Thunder or Thunder Bolt, but I'm pretty sure Lugia would withstand it (high Sp. Def.) and kill Ho-oh before it (Lugia) dies.

Lugia is my favorite because I think the simplicity of its design goes a long way. I also like the way its wings are constructed: they are very different than any real bird that comes to mind. The pointed blue tear-shaped elements that its eyes are placed on give it an air of both power and seriousness.

Personally, I've always loved Lugia. Back when I was playing Silver version, I couldn't believe how cool the new generation was. I almost got Gold because Ho-oh looked cooler (I was 12 at the time lol), but then I decided on Silver that night at Target.

When I first caught him, Aeroblast was awesome to use. In Pokemon Stadium 2, I would actually play with the rental Clefable just to try to use Metronome to use the attack.

Lol I hope the attack has as much punch in these new games.

Although I voted for "Both", Lugia has to have the upper-hand.
It looks cooler, and appeals to me more than Ho-Oh, especially with its Water-typing (something I especially like). Not to mention it settles under the sea, which makes it the more awesome.

...Except its not water type. It just has some water-like traits, like learning hydro pump and living in whirl islands.

I only found that out when I got SoulSilver. I always got confused when water attacks weren't very effective (They should be normal - water<grass but flying>grass, so they cancel down to normal damage)

The same exact thing I thought of when seeing this poll. Must say that this has been discussed in several Pokemon Forums over the years, so I'm not surprised that it worked its way here. I agree with everything said by you GreenLiquid [GQ]. Love the way you worded things.

I do believe that the simplicity of Lugia's design goes a long way and that maybe a bit too much work was put into Ho-Oh's design and that's not always a good thing...
