I think it has to do with milestones in your PokéDex...
Oak called me and said my PokéDex was filling up, then afterwards I checked my Dex and it said I had 151 Pokémon on it. |

Prof. Oak must be, without a doubt, *Slams hands on desk* A Pedophile. The only way that call could be funny, is if you got the Kanto starter from him and he called you the second you got it... yes, he is right in-front of you and he calls you. |
