Default *tells himself not to buy an instant camera*

Whatever it is, it seems like my friends that are on Facebook took up instant photography, and it's not the digital kind. I'm getting people posting things about their instant cameras. The kind that uses instant film.

I must... resist... the urge... to splurge... $100-ish... on a Fujifilm instant camera... the consumables are expensive and small compared to what you can get with getting 4R paper and the ink with it.

I do think instant film still has its use today, but... I wonder what I can do with it that I can't with my camera/phone and a photo lab/my printer?

They're still the fastest way of getting a physical photograph in your hands, but there are very few instances where that would really matter and the aforementioned idea of digitally snapping a picture and wirelessly printing it would suffice.
