It is I, the all powerful and badawesome torrent of terror, TurtwigX! Or as a few others call me, Turty~ I guess it was finally time for me to have one of these thingies. I just hate saying the word. I know of the etymology, but I can't get it out of my head that blog is a cross between "BLARG" and "GROG."

But I digress, I suppose I will use this for a place to analyze music in general, of my creation, and of The Beatles. I'll also be updating with bits of my life as I try hard in my mission to spread the mantra of John and I: "All you need is love." For if we do not love ourselves we cannot love each other. If we do not love each other, we cannot love the world. If we do not love the world then we will all spiral into nothingness. But I'm a busy young fellow so I won't keep things ridiculously long if I update every single day. Maybe if my "Food Fotography" job goes well I can bring it over here.

For my first post, I'll go over the disaster that was my fishing trip this weekend with my dad. It all started after school on Friday. I wasn't allowed to go to marching band because I had to board a bus by 5. The trip was to North Carolina, and boy did it take forever. We only stopped once and that was for the bathroom, thank goodness I snuck a ten from my dad and bought a pizza. Because after we got there we didn't eat until we came back Saturday night. I don't even want to go over how agonizing being on the boat was. There were way too many people so my line kept getting tangled every single time I cast out. I decide to take a break, and suddenly I get seasick. So the rest of my time on that boat is spent sleeping. :I After we get off the boat we count the fish that we, oh no, I mean he caught, since I was busy being sick. I totaled to 6. We normally catch ~120. After we got back early Sunday morning we agreed to never speak of it again. It's quite sad too, this might be my last fishing experience with him before college.

The rest of today there was nothing doing, just me and homework. So I'll end it here. Goodnight, everybody!

Today was a whole mess of things. This was the most schoolwork I've done in school... ever. I missed a whole lot of homework from writing a college essay so I had to spend all my free time making it up that day. I did so much work that I now have a free night~

Since I have the space, I guess I can elaborate on my schedule. Our school runs on the A and B day system, so that we have 8 classes in all yet 4 a day. This allows for very long 90 minute class times, but it can be a great advantage when there's a nonchalant substitute and my group of friends just so happen to have their 3DSes. Even so, I love learning so I cope with it anyway.
On both days my schedule has somewhat of a set pattern. 1st period is AP Calculus. It's both days because one of the teachers requested it, so that we get NOTHING lower than a 5 on the AP test. 2nd period is the fun class. On A days I have my hilarious AP Lit teacher who makes English fun (shock horror!) and on B days I have Orchestra where I play the SEXY SEXY DOUBLE BASS~<3 3rd period is sort of the slow class. Forensic Science is a great subject, but the teacher is... ugh. Italian 4 is great, but the other students aren't... as enthusiastic as I am, and unfortunately a 1-student class isn't allowed... 4th period is always my favorite, it's where my love can be found~ In the way that they're courses for my majors (Advanced Band[Music] and AP Computer Science) and that the person I dream about is there~ ...It's too bad they're 2 different people, but that's a whole different sob story.

Today was also an accomplishment, working on bringing up my self confidence! After it took a serious plummet in early August I'm now starting to learn how to become an individual so I can be separate from my mother. It's even helping me cope with letting my "secret" out to people I know. At first I was apprehensive towards letting anyone else know that I'm bisexual, but everyone so far has taken it positively (a little tooooo positively...) and that's even BETTER for my self confidence~

I'm still in the middle of a project, so it seems that this is all for today.

Oh, that's so adorable. I didn't even realize, but that fits so well~ X3 But you know the inspiration for everything I do this thread opener was Beatles related.

Don't even mention "Glee Sings The Beatles" to me. I hate all covers of Beatles songs. So much that sometimes I even dislike the original songs that The Beatles covered. But don't get me wrong, I still think it's a good show.

I didn't expect me and everyone else to be so into college that it'd seep into our daily conversations, taking place of the regular nonsense. Instead of butts or insults, we actually went over and peer reviewed our personal statements from our applications (it's a grade in our AP Lit classes.) Most of them sucked, to be honest, but that didn't surprise me. There were a couple that were good for starters, as they caught my attention and HELD IT there. But this one... oh MAN the one that belonged to the girl next to me was so bad it was funny. It was a very serious topic, her teacher dying from lung cancer, but she's a bad writer. "My middle school graphic design teacher [dunno name] passed away from a disease. How did he pass away? It was lung CANCER!" Then she went on to define it and it was just awful. As bad as it is to make jokes about it, it gave us a good laugh for the hour.
Only other thing from the school day was the hilarious dialogue that happened in AP Computer Science.

Teacher: The test is on Java, but there are many others. C, C++, C#, Python, Fortran...
Friend: Umm, I'm sorry, but did you just say *****?
Teacher: Shut up, we do NOT talk about that in here.
Other Friend: *pulls it up on his phone* Is this the website?
Teacher: WHAT? That's not BLOCKED?

Ah, I love that class so much.

Now onto the thing I really want to talk about, analyzing the new remix that I just made~! I figured that I could use this space to go over how I go about my 8-Bit remixing, if anyone ever wanted to know or would like to criticize.
http://victoryroad.net/showpost.php?...7&postcount=84
Musical Nerdiness- New Bark Town 8-Bit
This particular remix was done using the Konami VRC6 expansion chip that adds 2 extra pulse channels (with great duty cycle depth) and a sawtooth channel. Now I honestly don't know EXACTLY what sawtooth and duty cycle are yet () but I know how I make it WORK. The method I use to write it is something I dubbed "Beatle Theory" even though it was a concept way before. I used the two VRC6 channels to form the "lead guitar" melody line, the Triangle and Sawtooth for the extra "oomph" bass, the original Square channels for the "rhythm guitar" countermelody, and the Noise and DPCM for the only thing they're useful for, drums. Then I individually worked with the four sets of two by filling in the blanks by ear. The melody line was the most interesting to work with. I accidentally created an interesting sound by giving the two channels the same notes so I could transpose the second. The first channel had a different duty cycle than the second, so when I accidentally hit play the sound that came out was so FOREIGN. It sounded like... like a SEGA Genesis to me almost. That was the magical part of the song for me, it gave me more motivation to see the project through.

(I'd like to pull up pictures, but I'm toooo tiiiired.)

Is it bad that I like this version better than the original?
Well, I can't lie, if your remix wasn't so terrible then I would've never tried my hand at it. I'm too afraid to remix any songs already in 8-Bit, especially when they're Game Boy songs. The funny story about the ending is I actually "wrote" it during my AP Lit class Tuesday. I was just humming the song because I wanted to give it some spice, and although it's kinda simple I knew it was the spice I wanted after my 12th time trying it.
Hey don't worry, I like my version more, too!

Now that this is all done, I'm tired and need to prepare for my favorite part of the day: Doing the homework you couldn't finish at home in the class that it's due~! Goodnight, everybody!

I look back at last year and I see how sad I was not having band class. Now here I am right where I belong, but am I truly happy?

Tomorrow is the start of school spirit week~! Whooo! Now, I'm not the most spirited when it comes to my school, but I thought I should join in the stupidity because I'm a senior and what have I got to lose? *sigh* The thought of leaving is just soul crushing, man...

Monday- Crazy Day: Ah, the one day that never changes in my school. For this I'm just gonna grab a bunch of stuff with my eyes closed and wear it. I can't predict what it'll look like, I might have a lamp or video games or just be normal.
Tuesday- Theme Day: For the class of 2014 (the only one that matters >: D [even though it really isn't because 2015 is better]) we have HIPPIES~ So obviously when they said that I replied "Jimi Hendrix." I thought John Lennon, but he wasn't an average 70s hippie, and I'm not feeling the granny glasses. I got me the afro, psychedelic shirt, and guitar. I'm even learning Purple Haze on it, I'm so overprepared~
Wednesday- Class Color Day: BLACK AND RED! My original plan was to do Shadow the Hedgehog, but I was running low on funds. I'll still have Shadow in there somehow, but for now it's still questionable.
Thursday- Superhero/villain Day: Screw superheroes, I'm gonna do the one cosplay I've had planned since the 9th Grade: Lucas! After all, he's the only superhero that matters~ I've got a wig (), the shorts, and I can always grab a stick from the backyard. I just need to paint red stripes on a yellow shirt since THE JERKS HERE DON'T JUST SELL YELLOW AND RED STRIPED SHIRTS >:I
Friday- School Color Day: I don't freakin' care. It's just orange and black (We're the Tigers. Whooo.) There'll be 2 pep rallies that the marching band is playing at so I'll just do the band tracksuit. Maybe some orange hair if my funny friend brings the spray stuff. (I think this is also the day I get to be a male cheerleader~)

Then after that's all over it's the day of homecoming. For that I have some extra special plans, now all I have to do is pray to the gods of September that it comes to fruition. It's cereal time. Goodnight, everybody!

Well it certainly took you long enough. I'm pretty sure any of my other friends would've seen something Beatles centered from miles away. It's funny, sometimes I make references to Beatles stuff in regular speech and I don't really catch it until after I say it.
Sometimes I'll even copy Ringo's Liverpudlian accent, but that's only because it's reeeaaally sexy.

Default 9/16/13 "Woke up, fell out of bed..."

...grabbed some stuff and traveled ahead.

So this day I originally thought I was gonna grab some stuff and make a costume out of it. But I had this weird dream sequence, I felt like my mom came up to me and whispered "Are you wearing your bedsheet?" She denies that she said this, but she soooo did. And THAT spawned the idea. Instead of dressing up for crazy day, I'll just wear nothing at all!
...Okay no, not like that. I threw on my Beatles pajama pants, wrapped my bedsheet around me like a cape-scarf, and left. No shirt or anything. But for good measure I grabbed the pillow I was sleeping on. It's so soft... I'm glad I stole it from that hotel in North Carolina.
The reactions I got were great, too. I was the center of attention in every class that I went to. My motto for the day was "No shirt, no shoes, all service~ *snap snap*" I wish I could've taken a picture to post here or something, but it's just so crazy I think I'd be embarrassed if I was ever reminded of what I did X3

But there's no time to waste! I must paint a shirt for Thursday and get ready for tomorrow's events. I'm gonna stand up next to a mountain and chop it down with the edge of my hand! Goodnight, everybody!

Well, let me recount to you what I read earlier today in my English class. Human beings crave literature and poetry because it does more than just entertain, it creates a scene, and experience that appeals to all of the senses. It creates a perfect fantasy world that engulfs them, and when they finish reading their soul remains in that world. They will want to talk about nothing except that for endless hours amongst other people. Soon, real life will become boring to them because it is not as stimulating as the poetry. Real life is boring for me as well, but I do not resort to poetry for my stimulation. I am my own stimulation. I test the boundaries of social life and create my own situations that few would dream up. I AM the poetry that people crave so badly.

In short, I'm a badass, and I can't let myself be bored in life

Default 9/17/13 "Point on, Mr. Business Man. You can't dress like me."

Oh what I wouldn't give for the ability to make smoke appear from my mouth like magic.

Today was like the GREATEST! I never thought an idea as simple as that would be good, but it was fantasticals~! I'm so glad that the rest of class of 2014 thought hippies wasn't a good idea. That means me, being a 60s/70s child at heart, would EASILY dominate. And though a few girls made a stunning Prudence, nothing could top my Jimi Hendrix. It was perfect, and I only had to buy 2 things for it~
Just look at the goodies~

So the day is theme day, 9th graders have boring jocks, 10th has weird punk rockers, 11th had interesting brainiacs, and we had the amazing hippies~ I had to buy an afro and trippy shirt, the bandanna and bead necklace belonged to my mom, and I threw on jeans and my good jacket. Oh, and let's not forget the prop of the day, my fake First Act guitar. I thought about bringing my bass, but Jimi definitely played a (backwards) 6-string. Rock Band guitars weren't even considered, I wanted to make noise and I didn't want my expensive controllers to get broken.

From the start of the day it's been nothing but peace and love. In fact, my phrase for the day was "Peace and love, brotha." I was acting like I was high all day, and I know because that's what a teacher told me. I actually did learn the intro to Purple Haze and about 3 different chords on the guitar so I didn't look too fake walking down the halls. I got stopped like an innumerable amount of times to either play a ditty for someone, let someone play my guitar, or we'd all just have a jam session. For once I just... fit. Like a psychedelic glove. This was the most fun day for me, and I don't think any other day in Spirit Week can compare to today.

I think the best part of my day was that some people actually recognized that I was Jimi Hendrix. That made me soooo happpyyyyy~<3 And no one called me out on how fake my guitar was. Yup, I love people~
Oh, in my orchestra class as I was playing bass, somehow the bridge exploded off of the instrument. (Apparently this happens often? I thought I broke it. I thought I was dead.) So after that I just quit and for fun I took my guitar, held it up like a violin and tried to bow it.

I'm a regular Ringo now. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 9/18/13 "Stars don't twinkle, the moon doesn't shine."

Birds don't sing, the wind doesn't blow. To the true body, to the perfect existence.

Today was the great class color day! The class colors for 2014 being red and black. 9th has blue, 10th has silver, and 11th has green. I'm so JEALOUS of the 11th grade, but I forgive them because I love 2015 more than my class. Even their graduation year feels more symmetrical, in a way. Anyway, back to me, I swore in the 9th grade that one day I'd show up wearing a Shadow the Hedgehog costume. Unfortunately, I had a more important yesterday and today tomorrow to prepare for, so I had to do a *ah-hem* HASHTAG LOW BUDGET SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG.

...I think my total hate for Twitter and Instagram is starting to show.

Anyway, it was a simple affair. I had black pants, a black shirt, and some red sneakers. I painted red striped on the shirt and glued some cotton balls on for the chest fluff. I used my Roy Mustang Ignition Gloves turned inside out for the gloves and attached the red tag thingies, but I didn't have any gold rings. D: I wanted to paint my hair red, but I decided that was too much. Only about a couple people recognized me, but it was all good anyway. I wanted to make a chaos emerald, but I have loooow origami skills.

Then tonight was CLASS NIGHT~ I got in for free because I'm in the marching band~ Oh man, that was a crazy fun batch of random events. Everyone was good, but we were the best, that's why we won. I didn't get involved in any of the events, but all the band people were in the stands dancing and being crazy. And shouting at each other from across the room because we were separated in an odd way.

Now I just have to focus on tomorrow. It'll be the day I work out my Lucas cosplay I've also been planning since the 9th grade. Not as important as Jimi Hendrix, but just as fun. It's perfectly timed too since we have Anime Club on Thursdays. Interesting note, we're interviewing this Kyle Herbert guy. I have 3 questions I can ask but I haven't made any because I just don't know him or his work.

And it's amazing, my friends are now starting to call me Jimi~! I feel so loved~ Goodnight, everybody!

The boy named Lucas is crying at a grave.
The boy named Lucas and his dog are loitering the forest.
The boy named Lucas is getting into trouble in the mountains.

The boy named Lucas learned some bad magic.
The boy named Lucas…

I've been trying to do this cosplay since the 9th grade... and today my 4 year dream has finally come true... September magic really works wonders.

I got a decent amount of people asking me for a picture too. And everyone had a good laugh about my blonde wig~ Of course, it wasn't the right kind, Lucas's hair sticks up. The wig just wasn't meant to be shaped that way. The hair reminded me of Todd Ingram, so I did the vegan thing, too~ And the shirt, it's just yellow. We had to PAINT the red striped on and it took like 2-3 days. But... they're perfect. It's my new favorite shirt.

Then after the day was done we went to anime club. There we interviewed Kyle Herbert, and he's a really funny guy. He gave us good tips about going into the voice acting business and went over his role in that PERFECT movie I love so much, Wreck-It Ralph(<3).

Now it's time to do the stacks of homework I let pile up -_- And preparations for the last day of this spirit week, getting closer to my hopefully successful homecoming. Go out with a bang! Goodnight, everybody!

Default 9/20/13 "This has no interesting title."

I'm a tiger, rawr!

This is gonna be pretty short. It's just school color day. I only had 1.5 classes today. A little bit of AP Calculus and all of Forensic Science. Why? The marching band had to play at not one, but TWO pep rallies. Yay for missing class, especially since I didn't do my homework~

After school was total hell. I would love to rant about my band director and all his suckiness, but that can wait for Sunday. I can't do it tomorrow because it's the Day of Happiness~ Surprisingly, it's a REAL recognized holiday, too, and NO ONE TOLD ME. World Gratitude Day is my new favorite holiday of them all, it allows me to truly spread the September magic~ Crossing my fingers that tomorrow's plans pull through.

When I got home is when the strangest thing happened to me. My college admissions counselor assistant reviewed my mediocre personal statement essay for college (actually AP Lit, I typed it as if it was just an assignment.) She loved it, told my mom and she loved it, showed my dad and he loved it, and I'm sure my mom will force it on every lawyer person she knows. But... this strengthened my confidence as a paperback writer, a hobby I should get back to sometime soon. After that, she even told me the best essay would involve my deep interest in The Beatles. Could anything be more easy for me~?<3

And now, I'd like a little time out to express my gratitude. About where I am now, my personal and mental states. How I've redirected my life around reinventing the values of The Beatles. I would never be how I am right now if it wasn't for Cat. So thank you for nearly ending my life, because if wasn't for that it never would have started. Keep truckin' on, my brothers.

Default 9/21/13 - 9/22/13 "This is the end."

Hold your breath and count to ten.

Well, that was a great time, but homecoming week is now over~ And back to the ordinary structure of life.

The day started at 7:15 AM. It should've started at 7, but I'm always late. We got to the bandroom, practiced music, and loitered until about 9:30. Then the homecoming parade started at 10 and it lasted about 75-80 minutes. Of nonstop marching. :I I was angry at first, but thank God we only played 2 different songs. I think this was our most successful parade yet. I even got my solo I wrote for a Chuck Mangione (jazz band) to work with one of our popular songs.

All we did was eat and hang out after the parade ended. Skip to 1:30 PM, we marched our way to the bleachers for the football game. It was nice and dandy and boring... did I mention I hate football? Then it was time for the half time field show which was arguably a disaster. We looked very confused and we were because it was our first time on a football field all season. We didn't move much and we only played 2 of our 3 songs. It's a good thing we broke the band director, he thought it went fine~ But the fun didn't begin until it started raining. He told all us woodwinds to run back to the bandroom and pack up our instruments... but what about the brass? Oh, his dream is to have an all brass band so he was FINE. Screw the woodwinds. So when we came back we screamed out parts and did whatever we want. NO INSTRUMENTS, WHOO!!

After that was the dance. It started at 7 PM and everything was all nice and empty and proper. I said I'd give it till 8:30 to get freaky.
And I was right.
Of course I don't feel comfortable doing that stuff, so I just had fun being myself. Friends are what make social outings more enjoyable, and I had many who were there.

Ultimately I didn't get to do the thing I planned, but I did get something else I wasn't expecting. But now, I feel very confused... *sigh* Life, man. Today's Sunday now, and I haven't done any bit of schoolwork since Friday. It's time to Get Back. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 9/26/13 "The rules themselves have no meaning."

Living beyond the edge. Doing whatever is possible and trying what seems to be impossible. That is the life of TurtwigX. I'm only human, but I'm enjoying every second of it.

So all this week I've been pretty much lazing around (except I got on the track team!) because I haven't recovered from the craziness of last week. But today took the cake simply because of how NONSENSICAL it was. So I just did things my way.

So I knew today there was going to be a systematic lockdown, we've been talking about it for a week and I made plans with friends to play Mario Kart 7 during that. But when I get to the school there's this cluster of people near the entrance- they're checking bags. For what, now? Candy and weapons, it's illegal to sell unsponsored on school grounds, and... just cause weapons. I'm not with people rummaging through my stuff, so I just say "no" and hang around the band room.

After loitering with friends for about and hour they finally kick us inside, but I still refuse a bag check. So when they usher all my friends into the room they call each one of them out... except me, which allows me to slip past all the security. Honestly, why not me? Am I really that unnoticeable? I guess being this small and meek has some advantages. After loitering around some more, I finally decided to go to class. Oh, I also found a School Property TI-84 on the floor while I was walking. I'm gonna sell it on eBay. Wanna buy? ;D

After a short first period, it was LOCKDOWN TIME~ I rushed to get to the site of the meetup and we had a nice Mario Kart session. Well, it would've been very nice if my friend wasn't CONSTANTLY trying to add my friend IN ANOTHER CLASSROOM. He interrupted several Grand Prix doing that. I don't think he understood how terrible Nintendo DS local wireless is...

Second period was shorter, only about 30 minutes long, and then it was off to third. There we had a substitute, I still didn't feel like doing work, so we had a nice conversation about my career as a comedian. I was making people crack up all class period, but... I'm not that funny.

Band this time was actually VERY enjoyable. Only because the director allowed us sectional time, which in MY language means GOOF OFF WITH YOUR SECTION TIME!! We went into the locker rooms are started causing trouble in a multitude of ways that I can only describe in person... all I can say is having crazy friends is more fun than having sane friends.

Now for the worst part of the day... after a somewhat decent anime club meeting we found out that we might need a new sponsor. The teacher thought the idiotic students were mature enough to handle an R rated movie so she could do a lesson on bullying. Apparently one kid was SO PERTURBED by the graphic scenes and ran straight to her mom, and now she's in trouble. Although, she's also thinking about resigning because she doesn't want to go through the stress. I know she loves us and wants to stay, but I don't know if it's better to let her go and enjoy her life... It's gonna be interesting.

Oh, and the movie was The Bully, from 2001 I believe. And if you look up the Wikipedia page for it, the description is HILARIOUS. So poorly written that we spent a good 20 minutes laughing at it XD Now I've gotta go finish this argument with Mag about Spider-Man. Goodnight everybody!

Default 10/4/13 "I hate October."

I should've called this "A Week In The Life" with how often I update. But then again, I don't think John and Paul would've wrote that much.

I saw it coming from a mile away but I chose to ignore it. I had such good plans for today to turn out well, and it should've been obvious that it wouldn't turn out to be so.

The marching band was supposed to play at the Capitol today. I guess considering the events that happened yesterday we should've expected something weird to happen, but you know we don't care about all that. So we'd leave at 9 AM and return to the school at 5 PM, meaning that we'd miss an entire day. So my plan was instead of bringing my bookbag filled with paper and books to bring my brand new Sonic backpack filled with video games, food, and my laptop. Afterwards I'd go to Roosevelt for a teenager Coffee House concert. It was gonna be great. The only bad thing is that the one person I wanted to be there said he was instead going to Six Flags or something with the student government. Oh well, I'd show him I can have a good time without him.

So first I wake up late, and that means I have to leave the house faster to catch the bus. So I forget to pack extra food and I leave my laptop at home due to my inability to make quick decisions. There goes all my plans to make music in DC.

So we get on the bus and get to DC pretty quickly. We played Pokemon and whatnot and I won every single battle because I suppose I'm good (I still believe my battle skills are only decent.) So far so good. But because the bus partner I wanted isn't there, I had to have some random girl sit next to me. Which wouldn't have been bad if she wasn't a POPULAR random girl who called a bunch of people to crowd and give me instant claustrophobia. We were supposed to get off the bus and roam through DC a bit, but WHOA! Change of plans, we're not allowed to go anywhere! I have to stay melting on a bus for an hour.

We finally get off when it's our time to do the marching thing. Only, the people that lead this parade aren't here so we can't actually do the MARCHING we planned to do. So we simply played the national anthem and left. As in back to school. Not even any dancing.

Since we weren't supposed to be in school, we were allowed to chill in the bandroom until the end of the day and we even got free pizza from the principal. So I go up to the line ready for a nice hot cheese slice when I hear the freakin' security guards STOLE 2 boxes of OUR pizza. And just as I go up, they run out of cheese. The only things left were 6 boxes of pepperoni and bacon, both of which I can't eat because I'm Muslim. (I know I'm not to keen on the religion thing, but I still hate the taste of pork anyway.) I skipped out on lunch waiting for the provided food, and I get none.

In my frustration, I stole a half empty bottle of Pepsi, take out my iPod, and read. A lot. It was gonna be okay, I could go home early and get ready for the concert at night. NOPE, marching band practice was officially UNCANCELED and we all had to be there. So there I was was, starving, lonely, and getting yelled at for hours. I was in a pretty awful mood.

Thankfully the concert was pretty good. My old friend from school was there. She played well and when it was over we discussed plans for me to appear in the Spring show. I wanted to catch up with her, but I guess we drifted apart too much due to being at different schools.

Now I'm at home, feeling more alone than ever. But that's how I like it, I always have the most fun in my solitude, doing whatever I want. I don't want to be this superstitious, but this month is a curse to me and this is just the beginning. Goodnight.

Default 10/10/13 "Turn up, turn around."

The House of Hades is a perfect book. I love Percy Jackson!

Well, okay, I might've been wrong about October! This is fabulous! Life is fabulous! I'm so HAPPY~!

This morning I was in a very sour mood, worse than normal. I woke up late again because I miss a lot of sleep and I had to skip a lot of my morning rituals since I lost an hour and thirty minutes to sleep. The rain also makes me upset very easily. It's hard, wet, makes me very cold, handicaps me to carrying an umbrella, and I couldn't even read my book at the bus stop like I was planning. Certainly not a good start.

However when I got to school we were going over the lesson from the homework (that I didn't complete. I'm such a scholar!) But then all of a sudden WHOA! SENIOR FEMALE ASSEMBLY! (Not, not THAT kind of assembly. Our class is large but our cafeteria's small.) So now my teacher can't teach, so I got a whole class to read~ House of Hades is just so perfect that I can't even explain now. It deserves its own review post when I finish it next week or so.

Then it was time for our assembly in 2nd period. Nothing special, just class rings and graduation stuff. I ate food. Third wasn't very impressive either, just general Italian and goofing off. Somewhere in between I started a schoolwide twerking contest. Oh the things bored high schoolers do~

Lunch and fourth really made my day. I mean, it wasn't much, but it really turned me up. I don't eat during lunch, I go to my previous English teacher's classroom to talk to her and my friends. One in particular was being very friendly today, even as we went to AP Computer Science. At the end of that as a total surprise to me, he gave me a hug and then told me he loved me. That's... only about the second time in my life something like that has happened to me.

And for the rest of the day I was in the best of moods. Nothing has brought me down and I'll fall asleep with a smile on my face. Of course I'm smart enough to know I shouldn't expect everything to be perfect from now on, especially in this moment. This might be the second time this has happened, but the first time, just a year ago this month, the whole thing didn't end how I wanted it to. But I can't help but to swim in these little moments. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 10/12/13 - 10/13/13 "Pokémon Y Without The Version."

Seriously, it bothers me that's it's not called X Version and Y Version. Does no one else feel disturbed?

So as the entire WORLD must know, Pokémon X and Y came out yesterday, and boy was it huge. So huge that I had to buy FOUR copies. ...Okay, the reason behind that being I wanted both, and my friends gave me the money to buy theirs for them. They're repaying the tax money through Club Nintendo coins. Oddly enough the GameStop was not exploding from Pokémon fans, and there were PLENTY copies left in the store. But the people working there were stupid, so I could only get them to comply for 1 Giratina download... I hate GameStop events, Game Freak...

This post is gonna be like a little Club Nintendo Post Play Survey! I'm just gonna do a Day 2 Review here, I won't be posting my progress here nor will I make a new thread because I'm not important enough to not use the general Recent Happenings thread. My first impressions of both is that it must be pretty darn impressive for them to settle for such simple names. Letters... that'll turn out to be something very clever by the end of the game... right?

The graphics: Woooow. For the 3DS this is stunning. I can see that they're using the cel shading that Smash Bros. 4 was shown to have. Sometimes I don't like how the camera auto-switches to top down view, though. It's annoying. I wish there was some way of free camera control, but it reminds me of Black and White's camera changing by step. Then there's diagonal stepping, which is cool I guess, but then there's FREE ROAM SKATING, WHICH IS EVERYTHING! I love doing spins~

The Pokémon: They're not running out of ideas, but they do remind me of things I've seen before. Of course, that's just the unevolved forms, I can't wait to see their finals. I like how this has every single generation mashed in to create possibly the largest Pokedex to date. I wonder if I'll be able to see everything... And the Fairy type, I was skeptical about that at first since I heard about it on the wind, but I think I might start to like it.

The Features: Okay, time to be angry. This is the FIRST 3DS game I've bought that's not in full 3D. Really now? They took out the large Gen V Register list for a D-Pad thingy. They brought the EXP All from Gen I back (though they might've tweaked it to make it better.) They took out the wonderful Free Space, and Rival battles seem to be as infrequent as in Black 2.
Other than that, I love the skates, everything about the weird little touch screen, trainer customization, full size trainer models and updated artwork, and ESPECIALLY the speed or saving.

And there you have it. But before I finish, Xerneas looks like a cross between a majestic nature spirit with Yggdrasil in its antlers and a giant reindeer with Christmas lights embedded in its antlers. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 10/25/13 - 10/27/13 Pokemon Has Taken Over My Life/The Arguably Late Anniversary Post

I decided to combine both of these posts into one. They're very long together, so I separated them into two different parts.

Pokemon Has Taken Over My Life
I have been playing Pokemon Y (without the version) since the day it came out. I’m not one to blame video games, but it’s the reason I struggle with Limits in AP Calculus, why my college applications aren’t done yet. Hell, it’s the reason this post wasn’t made on the 25th like I had planned. I was too busy playing Pokemon to sleep instead of typing. And I suppose as tribute to it I will make this a review post, in a sense.

This game, first off, suffers from the disease that most 3DS games have, in my opinion. The Simplicity Disease. I’m not sure why, but Nintendo’s games of today seem much easier and shorter. I’m not too mad at the EXP All or the EXP from Poke Balls (Actually, I love that. So so much.) But I don’t feel like the game itself was busy enough. I like it when the gym leaders actually get involved in the story, but these just sat there. I can’t remember half of them. The only exceptions are Korrina who played a LARGE role and is special to me, and Wulfric who played a minor role but only remember because I just so happen to find him a wee bit attractive. I can’t really remember the others, only that the rock dude had a stupid pun for a name and that the grass dude had some huge scissors. Team Flare was also a disappointment, but only near the end. “But Team Flare got serious at the end, wouldn’t you like them more there?” one might ask. Nope, not at all. In good poetry, in the last few lines there is a shift, a change in the mood that is evident and drops something large. Team Flare tried to undergo a shift like this, but it was way too dramatic. Team Flare was goofy, fun, lighthearted, and I liked running into them because they were eccentric. That had no defined goal and it made me laugh. Then all of a sudden “Oh by the way, we’re gonna kill everyone in the world who isn’t as fabulous as we are.” Eh? They start their insanity by admitting to spying on trainers all over the world. Then they level the town of Geosenge with an ancient poison flower. THEN they resurrect a demon legendary (Well, Yveltal was a demon, I dunno about Xerneas. It kind of reminds me of Yggdrasil, which I assume is good) using its energy to power this ultimate flower weapon to wipe out all life. Lysandre has a change of heart somewhere inbetween, but it still ends with his defeat, and ultimately his death. At least, that’s implied because you never see him again after the explosion. The whole thing was a little too much for me, and it was very... confusing. Just confusing.

Aside from those issues, I’m in love with this game. I’ve been doing nothing but researching it. That’s one of the reasons I haven’t gotten anything done... The battling is great, the looks are great, the Battle Maison is great, a lot of things are great. The new Fairy type is a favorite of mine and Aegislash has become my new favorite Pokemon of the region. I don’t have any new favorite Grass types, which is strange, but MEGA EVOLUTIONS. Where would I be without them? Ever since I received my first Mega Stones I’ve been looking for all of them so I could use them all in plenty different ways. And now that there are 6 generations of Pokemon, I have made an All-Generation Team. It only took me like 2-3 days to think of them all.

There are a lot more things I could say, but in the end it’s another Pokemon game. Another winner and classic, and all I can do now is hope for some amazing updates in Pokemon Z (without the Version.) Or if they’re weird like me, Pokemon XX and XY. I can’t not love the main series, they’d have to destroy everything about it. But as with nearly every 3DS game I’ve seen, I give it a modest 7.5-8/10. Long live Wigglytuff, guildmaster and new god of the dragons.

The Arguably Late Anniversary Post
In the end of this month, October, this marks my 4th year here at Victory Road. It’s not as special as a multiple of 5, but I don’t think it’s gonna be as easy when I’m in college. It’s strange being one of few active members of the original 1000. I don’t know how I’m gonna go about this since I can’t remember every detail of my stay since I’ve joined, and I have left quite a number of times. But let me try my best to spin a story for you guys.

It was a dark and stormy night... I was in the 8th Grade when I came across Cat’s YouTube channel.

Skip to a few months later when he posted a video about a Brawl tournament. Being the champion Melee and Brawl player in the school, I thought I’d test my luck against other people I didn’t even know. And all I had to do was sign up to this buizel.net website thing. No problem.
Turns out actually it was a huge problem. That was my FIRST time being introduced to time zones. Yes, in the 8th Grade. Don’t judge the littler me. I got very frazzled and eventually dropped out because either my disc or my Wii broke and I couldn't play at all. I decided to hang around. There was a chat thing embedded to the front page and I figured I would get to know the people there and they’d teach me about time zones. Bowser’s Inside Story had just come out so it was my obsession (and unfortunately around the time my DS Lite broke in half.) The next most active period I remember was around the release of HG/SS. I knew everything about the game since I had a Japanese version. I was doing that at the time... but I was really into it for the music and I memorized all the songs. When Cat was streaming the entire soundtrack to the game, THAT’S when I became fully active. I was in an impressionable phase, so during my stay many different things helped shape my character so that I would become the guy I am today. As time went on people came and went and I was one of them. And soon we’d arrive here.

Despite my current postcount, which I do believe is pretty impressive myself, I didn’t post that often. Back then I was less afraid of what people thought of me, I was just living life and enjoying the sweet innocence of freaky teenage middle school chaos~ Ah~ On Victory Road at the time I didn’t feel like looking through threads to make new posts, and I kept getting frustrated whenever the threads I made (like 2 of them) would only last a few days and die, while others would span months. So I just stuck with the embedded chat on the front, as people were always there. It was usually a good crowd of people, and I enjoyed talking to them. They were are crazy and today I dunno if I would’ve approved of my choice, but c’est la vie. Eventually Cat changes his favorite Pokemon to Floatzel, changes the website name, and then creates a chat PROGRAM. That was good news for me since it was all I ever did. I would spend hours, days, nights, all the time chatting with members just for the hell of it. It was there that I met he who will not be named, someone that to this day haunts my nightmares. By talking to him he brought out more of my gay side by noticing I had a certain attraction to Alphonse that I wouldn’t admit was love. I didn’t know or care what I was then, I was only concerned with gaming. It was also from him that I derived my first public fear: fear of rejection. My social awkwardness started to grow.

But not all was dismal. I had great friends. My original two, Charry and Dilly are the most special to me. Though, me and Charry did get into quite a few fights. There was JJ, Lite, JAD, Bela, L... so many names that I can’t even remember. And I still didn’t do that much posting, I just chatted with them, and through that we got closer. Then... I don’t know why, but I left.

I came back in my 9th Grade year. I felt alone in the real world and remembered that Victory Road would always be a home to me, so I came back. The site was going through major changes, as this was during the Gen V spoiler period. Cat’s favorite Pokemon once again changed, this time to Zoroark. I can’t remember when the site name changed, but this was also around the time when VRIM first came to be. Me, JJ, GreenMan, and L formed somewhat of a group, a friend circle. It carried over from VRC to VRIM and we’d have our fun there. I had a lot of fun late night chat sessions, but I made sure to post once in a blue moon. Funny story: I managed to spend an entire month in the RP room thinking it was the General room. I got so embarrassed I vowed to never go in that room again. It was that time when I met Reuniclus, one of my closest friends here, through battling. He’s so damn good it frustrates me, but he was the funniest person ever. I developed a bit of a crush on him, but I shrugged that off cause it was silly. I also met Eagles at that time, who told his name backwards, Selgae, kinda looked like Algae. It stuck, y’know? I spent some good times with friends until... I left again near the end of 2011. Sophomore year was a drama bomb.

I came back for my permanent stay in March 2012, and that’s when EVERYTHING changed. A lot of people fled, VRIM was dying, and I was having the time of my life. Hilariously, when I came back I had around 200-300 posts. My good friend Algae called me back and I couldn’t resist. The latter half of my sohpomore year was spent in agony, and that didn’t really change online either. I’m not afraid to say it anymore, I had an enormous crush on Cat around April and he gradually became the center of my life. Time chatting was usually spent in private rooms talking with him and Suicune at night until like 3 or 4 AM. Come June Algae said he would be taking his leave, and that’s when things went downhill. Cat officially announced the death of VRIM, cut major features, and only allowed few people to remain. People started to get bored with the chat, the site, both, and left. I remained because of my love for the site and my growing love for Cat. I tried my hand at making music in July or so and in August I requested to be banned (right around the time I was accepted as Grass Gym Leader.) From then on I quit the public rooms and only chatted privately with Cat, Suicune, and Gallium. October... was a drag. The closing of 2012 doesn’t have many good stories, except for when I first picked up The Beatles LOVE album in November. Obsession start.

2013 started out magnificently. X and Y were announced, I was becoming better with music, I got all the Beatles albums, I was in love, life felt at ease. Not much happened for months because I spent more time focusing on my real life, but I made sure to post daily. Somewhere in there I decided to end my relations with Cat and that was so rocky I just wanted to leave forever, but I couldn’t. I tried, but I came back in the end. Months later in June, I took a fake break (I stalked the forum daily) but came back to announce my trip to Vegas to see The Beatles LOVE and hopefully Cat as well. Almost didn’t go as I wanted to, but thanks to Algae everything went smoothly. Until a day later, when I nearly died from the grief that came from me knowing I could never be with Cat. But from then on, I decided that I would let the Beatles become the main inspiration for living and everything that I do in my life. And with two months of recent activity, here we are today.

I know this is long, but if you got to this point then let me just say I applaud you. My life isn’t the best, certainly not the worst, but it sure as hell ain’t average. Every day I try to do something out of the ordinary, what could I do that would make everyone’s heads spin? The only reason I’m like that is because of my time here at Victory Road. I owe it a lot, because I can’t imagine a Turtwig without it. And my closest friends; Cat, Suicune, Algae, JD, Bluey... I can’t thank them enough for sticking by me. They’ll always be with me in here *points to spot that might be heart... or stomach* All my other friends, too many of which to name, they all mean something too. I plan to be here till the day this place dies, freshening the air with my bright Turtwiggy spirit!

Default 10/29/13 "I Hate Live Music, And Here's Why."

I hate the noise of the crowd and how the band might play the song transposed. Or they might have one of those crazy "LET'S DO WHATEVER WE WANT TO THE NOTES" fits. And don't get me started on the various issues that make the band stop playing, like riots.

I like listening to Pandora Internet Radio on my iPod because it's the closest I will ever get to radio since I get to filter out all the modern stuff I do not like listening to. Even so, I hate listening to Pandora because it gives me the urge to go out and get a whole bunch of songs when I know I can't be doing that. And sometimes, the songs it gives me are... ugh, terrible LIVE versions. Who records these thinking they're good? If I see the word "Live" or even hear a second of a crowd cheering, I skip the song instantly. Live songs by The Beatles are given a little mercy; 5 seconds to impress me and then out the door with those too. But sometimes I actually do like the Live version just as much, and rarely, even more than the studio version.
So today on the Paul McCartney Station I got the song "Coming Up" from his album All the Best! This was a compilation album released in 1987, his second after Wings' Greatest, so it didn't actually come from that album, but it's what was given to me. The thing that I hated about this song was that, of course, it was Live and I hate all live music. But it had a funky beat on it, and I love funk, so I gave it a chance. That was a mistake because I instantly fell in love. It was bright and full of cheer, it made me feel like shaking the turtle rump~ After pressing the "replay" button on my iPod a thousand times before realizing Pandora doesn't allow that, I went to YouTube for a second tasting. Preferably the original because I still think live music sucks. And so I found this.

Now the first thing I noticed was "Holy jeez, a Soprano Saxophone. REPRESENT!" But that's beside the point. Look at the singer of the song. Now you may notice "Damn, that is one sexy man, why does he look so beautiful and perfect and sing just as well too?" (Well, you might not, but I... tasty.) Now look at the OTHER bandmates. You might (yes you this time) notice that "Wow... the singer looks like the guitarist who looks like the bassist and... are they all the same person??" Technically that would be a no, Linda is there too to play the role of the female voice, but she doesn't actually speak! Ignoring that, it's an all-McCartney band in the video, with the band name on the drum cover hilariously being "The Plastic Macs", a reference to The Plastic Ono Band and a pun on all the fake McCartneys (He's actually impersonating people, but I don't know who.) This song is one of the results of the mixture of two McCartney ideas that grew during 1968; lots of solo work and heavy experimentation.

To make this short, McCartney being himself was playing around with music, as I often do. He layed down a drum track, bass track, boom!- he was writing a song. But he thought it could use a contrast to his voice, something higher. He pulled his best falsetto and chipmunked it to sound like a woman. He then recorded all the different parts together (but probably not the winds, he can't play those that well, and he can't play guitar right handed) and it became the studio version. But it was recorded in 1979, not being released until 1980. It was revealed early with his band Wings during their tours, one of which was in Glasgow; site of the popular recorded version.

It's not that good of a video, but it's the best I could do.

Now, this version starts off with a countdown, a regular part of live shows, but also one of my favorite things for Paul to do~ From the opening chord the song is powerful and remains that way for the whole song. You can barely hear the crowd, too; they probably filtered out that unwanted noise, and that's why I like this version more. But allow me to compare.

The genre of the song is funk. Funk means it's got a bad groove and force, and force means it needs backbone. The studio version feels very thin and airy, and that's because it was an all-Paul job. Played, produced, and engineered by Paul (The fact that he cut his dear Linda darling from the song is surprising enough.) I don't know what studio he was at, but he didn't layer enough effects on to make it sound like a big band. Sure, there was echo, but that ADDED to the airy feeling. The live version OBVIOUSLY would have force, they're playing for thousands of people I bet. It includes all the members of Wings + their own backing band and so the different people would all contribute their style which would sum to a fuller sound. Playing a venue would obviously cause echo, but this echo doesn't work against the song. His voice is also less clean in the live version, so there's even MORE funky force! And now that Linda's actually in the song, the female voice sounds genuine and very pretty. Lastly, for the littlest change that would mean nothing to anyone else, the song was transposed up a semitone, which makes all the difference to me because E Major is my favorite key.

Normally I hate live music because bands think they can do whatever to their songs to make them more "exciting" for their fans in person and then sell this different version expecting you to appreciate it even more. However, in this case I do. The song isn't pushy and forcing itself to be different from the studio recording. It grows on itself and makes itself more exciting naturally. And that is why this song is my new obsession, and I thought I should share that in this post. I can also play it perfectly on my bass~ I should play it live someday... hehehe. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 11/22/13-11/23/13- "Teenagers Suck"

I wanted to post this yesterday but I was too tired and lazy to do so. If you've never been to Prince George's County, Maryland, consider yourself lucky. This is why I want to graduate and leave so badly.

So the stupidity started as early as 8 AM. I was on the bus grinding in HeartGold when I first overheard some hoodlums talking about leaving the school at noon. I of course ignored it, as they usually say stupid things, but as I was eavesdropping it appeared to be mor than just talk, it was as if the whole bus was in on it, maybe the whole school. But I thought no more of it as I just made it to Team Rocket’s Base.

Getting to the school was worse. The second we got there we saw cops swarming all over the place. It seemed that it was a school wide thing and that word of it got to the principal. Still, I didn’t believe anything was actually gonna happen, we always have cops around. Besides, anyone who leaves the school gets arrested anyhow. When I got into the bandroom everyone was joking about it like we usually do since insulting them is fun, and that lifted the tension. So with that I thought no more of it and went to first period.

First and second period were quite normal. At the beginning of AP Calculus they announced that the day was a “No-Pass Friday.” There was no leaving the classes at anytime and if you got caught hall sweep then you couldn’t come back to school till after Thanksgiving break. Strangest thing of all that scared me, my band/orchestra teacher was being NICE for once. He said if anything bad broke out the bandroom would be open for safety. From that moment I felt a shift in the air, something wasn’t right. I hurried on to third period so I wouldn’t be stuck at home until December.

That’s when the stupidity started. Third period starts at 11:30 so for the first thirty minutes everything was chill. Then 12 noon hit and we all waited. Nothing, just as I predicted. Pfft, like they were actually gonna do it. 12:05, the fire alarm goes off and all hell breaks loose. Administrators scream over the PA to no avail as crazy children swarm the halls eager to do their little “Walkout.” There was a tremendous noise going outside the classroom and the fire alarm was pulled over five times. I think it even broke. The school went on an official code red.

I was trapped in my third period, and trust and believe that it was worse than torture. Not only was it boring Italian (Yeah, I know I love the language, but honestly foreign language classes suck when they’re extended) our teacher also tried to make us LEARN. It didn’t work though, the atmosphere was all wrong. Thankfully all of us in the room were intelligent so I didn’t feel like going completely crazy. When we weren’t attempting learning we were scanning Instatwitter/Twittergram for news updates on what was going on (cause like what else would we do?) It was completely unbelievable, I can’t describe it with words. Even my teacher lost her professionalism and started insulting the students with us. Trapped in that small room I felt like I was going to go crazy, so I just played HeartGold a little bit. I can do that in school, all the teachers love me.

The worst part of it all was that I never got to go to fourth period. My favorite period was taken away from me as punishment. 1:10 is when we’re supposed to leave third period for lunch, and fourth starts at 1:45. The riots caused a huge delay in the schedule so the last lunch was delayed as far back as 2:30. None of us went, we were too pissed. Good thing too, because there was a food fight at every lunch, delaying the schedule more. I counted the minutes I was missing computer science, how I wouldn’t get to feel the greatest joy of the day all because of the terrible people in my school. Eventually the clock struck 3, the fire alarm was pulled for a 6th time (and broken definitely.) I gave up at that point, I just wanted to leave. The worst Friday ever was over.

I understand that a walkout could be a form of protest, a call for reform in an area, but that’s just it. These children didn’t WANT reform. They want chaos and disorder! They smashed windows, fought teachers, started group fights, caused the principal to cry. And all for what? To have “the livest walkout in the county.” They insulted other schools that didn’t do it for behaving and being “dry.” Now we’re all going to go through MORE hell on Monday and I, the pure and innocent, am caught right in it for absolutely no reason. And these kids think they can start ANOTHER riot on Tuesday! Haha. Hahahaha! HAHAHAHA! I’m going INSANE on the inside!

I think it’s time for me to be put to rest. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 11/25/13 "Already Been Dead"

Just a short little recount of how the entire school is now being tortured.

So the day starts out relatively normal, and that was a bit of a surprise. No cops, no flood of security, no pat downs at the door. Which was good for me, I had a silverware fork for my cheese flavored cup noodles and I think that maaaaaay be considered a weapon. Same deal as last Friday, we weren't allowed to have hall passes or use lockers between classes or have backpacks (been breaking that rule since day 1~) so nothing really bothered me.

The annoying part started during 1st period. Over the PA we were given about 3 speeches about our "poor conduct" and how we're "ruining our rising reputation." It was all garbage, 'specially cause they had students deliver it. Then the rights started being stripped. We were on class lockdown for the day. Anyone leaving the classroom for an unapproved reason would be sent home. The bells were turned off to prevent another fire alarm incident. Lunch period freedom was revoked and those were also heavily monitored. It was very childish, it would've felt like elementary school to me if I wasn't constantly breaking rules to my content.

Oh, and the funniest part? In the morning the principal usually says "And if you have not been told today that you are loved then let me be the first, certainly not the last, to say that I love you and have a good day." This morning she didn't say a THIING. Hahaha, she doesn't love us anymore! Congrats, peers. Ah, life is wonderful. Goodnight everybody~!

Default 12/4/13, 12/6/13 "The Best Days Ever"

This is about events that happened on Wednesday and today, Friday. I had an amazing time, but not on Thursday Pointless Thursday. Here we go!

WEDNESDAY
"THE DAY OF THE WINTER CONCERT"

This was the day I've been waiting for. My first winter concert since 10th Grade. I was prepared to do greatness even though I didn't practice my music at all. I just wanted a nice breakout with my bass skills.

The even was upgraded. It wasn't just a concert, the chorus put on this really terrible play full of bad actors and mediocre singers (I just played Dream Team in the back) until the actual band/orchestra went on.

Intermediate orchestra was second to perform, and that was me. Thankfully the IDIOT controlling the curtains didn't pull them back far enough for anyone to see me, so I was less nervous. But still, first concert with my bass? HAHA, I MESSED UP ROYALLY. I INSTANTLY forgot the fingerings to most of the high notes and purposely didn't play a few because I got so anxious. It was... something I don't want to speak of anymore...

Then after a few more acts it was time for advanced band at the end of the night. I gave my girlfriend a good luck kiss and we went onstage to play two songs with percussion, who by the way didn't practice with us until day of the concert. Good, right? Thankfully they didn't suck, we didn't suck, and the night ending with some good ol' Christmas caroling. I felt... so good. I'm back in the music program, baby!

THURSDAY
"LOL U"

Pfft, you thought I was gonna write about Thursday Pointless Thursday?

FRIDAY
"THE NEW YORK ADVENTURE PT II"

Today I skipped school because I'm a BAD BOY. But it cost $60 and I had to travel with the school to get there, so unfortunately it was legal. *sigh*

This was my second time going on the annual trip to New York with my friend Max, the first time was two years ago. I wouldn't even think of going without him, he is my ultimate partner in crime. Last time our plan was to go to Nintendo World, but we didn't have enough time and didn't nearly make it. 2 kids with no smartphones, no directions, no nothing but determination. But this time, we were prepared.

So the trip is actually about going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was nice, the artwork was more amazing, but that's beside the point. The second part of the trip was free-roam New York from 12:30 to 4:30. The bus dropped us off at Macy's and from there we were TREKKING. The GPS was pretty good, we ran into a few problems here and there, but it was a good walk. Finally... we made it there.

Now, I have never been in Nintendo World before. My first reaction? "Oh my God, this is Nintendo fanboy HEAVEN! THE DOOR HANDLES ARE POKEBALLS!!" You can imagine I had a good time. I took a lot of pictures with my phone camera, I didn't bring my regular camera because I knew it was just too big and it would've slowed me down. The first thing me and Max did was play Super Mario 3D World, which is RIDICULOUSLY SMOOTH AND BEAUTIFUL. Even the MAP isn't constricted to that stupid line. It is the greatest 3D Mario I've ever seen. Then we went upstairs to WII U HEAVEN and the POKEMON SHRINE. I demoed Sonic Lost World and Pikmin 3. Sonic Lost World is crazy beautiful, but with awkward controls, but they're easy to learn. You can't say it's bad until you play it. It was a marvel. Pikmin 3 was also great, I can't say too much about it since I've never played Pikmin before, but I still need it badly. I looked through all of the Pokémon merchandise, and it was A LOT. Probably used to be a lot more when it was the Pokémon Center. I saw a Flabébé plush and I was going to buy it, but I didn't have cash ready. I just wanted the experience, but I SHALL RETURN! I even got to saw the infamous Gulf War Game Boy and it was... *a single tear falls* I'll upload the pictures later, hopefully they don't suck.

It was only after an hour that we left, because we were afraid we were gonna get left behind. We pulled in all our money to buy some street food and a pizza pie. One person had to carry it until we could find a place to sit and eat, and for some reason we chose McDonald's. One smart person said "Macy's has a McDonald's" and thus began the hour long torture.

We got to Macy's and I gotta say it's overly extravagant. And I can understand, it was the first store. McDonald's was on the 7th floor so we had to go up escalators. We tried for an elevator, but hilariously they were all too full for the pizza. We finally got to the 7th JUST to see the McDonald's was completely full. Then- oh God I hate this part- the girls started to shop. We were a group of 7 and we were getting close to departure time so we didn't wanna get lost in the Macy's maze. Pfft, they didn't care. We were chasing after each other while that one guy kept holding our pizza. It was all too much, and we never found somewhere to sit. Eventually we realized that was impossible so we stood up and ate in the middle of the store. That was the last even of New York, as we left not too long after.

We got back at 10:20 all tired and whatnot. But I had a blast. Going out with a friend is one thing, but a group of SEVEN? Nothing but fun times. I wanna do stuff like that more often because it just makes me happy. There was no part of the day that I wasn't smiling, and I really like it like that. Wouldn't you? Goodnight, everybody~

>first time at Nintendo World
LOL. I've been there at least 10 times, and I'm going there at least twice again this year. >:3
However, I've played neither 3D world, Wii U Lost World, or even Pikmin 3. So I guess we can call it even for now.

Default 12/13/13 "Pretty Lucky for an Unlucky Day"

It won't be long, yeah.

My days and life have been very fortunate and good, but also very boring. I don't know what has happened to me, but simple living is no longer interesting to me. I'm so bored with everything that when I say I'm going to do something I start procrastinating it to death and then it doesn't get done until the day before it's due. My motivation level is at an all-time low, but it doesn't mean I'm sad anymore.

Today I FINALLY beat Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. The final boss kicked my butt so hard like 5 times in a row, but I finally DESTROYED him. SPOILER ALERT: It was Bowser. But the game is like 4 months old, no need for that anymore. Now that it's all done I have to say it's my favorite in the Mario & Luigi series. Sure, they took out a lot of little quirks about the series that gave it its charm, but the core essentials were taken from Bowser's Inside Story and CRANKED UP TO ELEVEN! DEAR GOD! You can't hate this game, it's the opposite of Sticker Star. If I had to rank the series, it'd look like Dream Team > Bowser's Inside Story = Superstar Saga >> Partners in Time. Now that it's done I'll probably go back to Etrian Odyssey, but this time with a guide. I need super serious help...

I've also been analyzing more music. Amazingly, this time it was rap. Even more amazingly, Kanye's Bound 2. I never hated Kanye's music, but I never really thoroughly enjoyed it either. This song was different, mostly because of the video which was extremely distasteful, and the parody which was hilarious but still disturbing. If there's one thing I learned about rap music today, it's that some artists sample the most AMAZING oldies. I love Bound 2's backing vocals and rhythm, and I knew they were sample so I had to do the research. It turns out he used a song by the Ponderosa Twins Plus One, called Bound (guess that's why Kanye's is a sequel.) It's FANTASTIC, they sound just like the Jackson 5! It's currently my new obsession and will probably stay there for a while. Listen to the sweet tones of that little boy's soprano~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6mGHwHMB5s

Now I've got some important Christmas prep to do. I want to make this year's drawing more spectacular than last year's. Ciao bambini, and goodnight everybody!

Default 12/16/12-12/17/13 "I'm Bringing Chords Back."

Well I was gonna do this yesterday but decided it would be better to compound it with the events of today.

So my high school's symphony orchestra has officially started yesterday! It was a slow start at first, there weren't as many people as there were who signed up and went to auditions. It quickly picked up pace, however. Our first song is a mashup of the Harry Potter theme and Incenption's theme. I was gonna do clarinet, but I quickly switched to string bass (I come in with the sexiest glissando~) The arrangement was fantastic and being in the back on the ensemble for once made me FEEL the force of the instrumentation. We learned the song in just a day, a 2 hour practice. I have high hopes for this, especially since I'm switching between three instruments.

TODAY was the SO MUCH BETTER JAZZ BAND!!!!!! F*** YEAH JAZZ! *Ah-hem* So, the atmosphere was already more relaxed. There were less woods, only 1 clarinet and flute. It was almost entirely hybrid-woods (that's what I call saxes), trumpets, trombones, and the rhythm section; with your champion soprano saxophone smack dab in the center. The song we were given (about a week earlier) was I Can't Turn You Loose by Otis Redding. Now I'm not one to usually practice music, so I went in with my best sight reading face just to see a rhythmically complicated melody. Thankfully the largest interval between notes was a third. We got through THAT song too, but it sounded even BETTER than the symphony orchestra. So much improvisation and light spirits... this is the band I've been waiting for!

It really sucks that practice is only once a week for both.

P.S. Just for something crazy that happened today. 4th period teacher wasn't here so hoodlums decided to hoodliumize in the corner. They took the fire extinguisher off the wall and fiddled with it until they got it to work. Then they bombed the entire classroom. Thankfully the class was evacuated, but I wasn't so lucky. Ammonium phosphate tastes funny. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 12/26/13 "Breakin' It Down"

Technically for me the date has rolled over, but today I lived in the time zone of Cirque City (Which I really really REALLY want to return to... maybe for the LOVE 10th anniversary...)

So as practically all people here should know by now, I create music. Today I released a song for my friend Tic-Tac's birthday, Tic-Tac's Symphony. Complete with artwork and all. And now I'm gonna break it down a little and go over the similarities and differences to the previous entry in the Birthday Greetings collection. So first comes backstory. As much as I'd LOVE to tell you the sob story of the feelings and emotions and suicides that went on, I'm just gonna skim through it. The song was first conceptualized in September 2012, then was canceled and destroyed only a month later. The project was revived in January, only to be destroyed not even halfway through the month. Throughout the rest of 2013 I struggled with myself deciding whether or not to try again. In November 2013, I finally decided on what the final product should be.

The name Tic-Tac comes from the Copy Ability Thief TAC from Kirby Super Star. This came about in a conversation where I reversed Cat's name (that's how I do my nicknames, blame Algae) and the only part that stuck out was TAC. The Symphony comes from the fact that I wanted the song to be soft, and also I wanted it to match The Ballad of Suicune in the way that it has a musical style in the title. From there I made the artwork. It was another one of those random inspirations that you have to write down or they completely pass you by. I but Tic-Tac on ??? (TAC Planet) with Floria, Aquarius, and Pop Star in the background. Then I tried to make everything black with stars in the background buuuuut... yeah, that could've gone better.

Then I started actual work on the song. It was outlined as a piece with an intro, 3 movements, and a closure. I got the idea from a piece of music that we played in band. The intro was, well obviously, the Milky Way Wishes intro. This was pretty simple, it was like a little 7 second loop. Like The Ballad of Suicune I wanted the song to be a double effort, both a remix and an original composition. I did that in a different way this time. I used the Pulse 2 for the melody like I always do, which meant lead woodwind sounds. Pulse 1 I had do the countermelody and support, so basically all the brass. Triangle had the honor of being what it always was, but instead of a bass guitar I envisioned it as a tuba player with actual lungs. The percussion was percussion because percussion is percussion, but I went light on it this time, making this song a rarity.

Then after a percussion transition the song goes into the first movement, Floria (Peanut Plains.) I had some initial trouble with how the countermelody would sound, so I put it off. I wanted the melody to sound as close to the original as possible and the bass-tuba I just improvised with. Percussion is percussion as always
Eventually I decided on something whimsical and baritone-ish for the countermelody, and I even gave it a little "solo."

The next movement was The ACTUAL TAC Planet. At first I didn't think it had music, so I looked it up to double check and it just so happened to be the Save Area music from The Great Cave Offensive (The All Star Rest Area from Melee as well.) It was so simple, and it was begging for an echo sound. It didn't come out quite right in the stereo mixing, as you can tell if you wear headphones. It's also not quite band-like to throw in an echo. To do the fade outs I recycled an old technique I retired a long time ago to make it smoother. After that short excerpt I break into something of my own creation that was a little bit Mother 3 inspired. The pulsing of the sound draws you in more and more, while still being relaxed and calm.

Then with a V7 chord we transition into our final movement, Aquarius (Grape Garden.) At first I was scared to do this, and I even slapped myself for drawing it on the artwork. I tried remixing this song separately in May, right before the big Wii Fit Baby announcement (and the rest of the stuff at E3) and it was a disaster. Such a disaster that I gave up all hope of doing this song. I had a choice: quit or persevere. Thankfully my skills have increased since then, so I took on the challenge. I spent most of Christmas Day working on this section of the song, it's not like I had anything else to do. I went after the tu-bass first, it was the second most difficult part for me back then. I took out my Kindle piano app and went through the ear training session of a lifetime to pick out those notes, and eventually I was able to do it all. Then I went after the melody, which I wanted to lower from its original octave. Then I went STRAIGHT to work on the percussion, as this little bit is the only one with exciting percussion I made up a little beat that I could use consistently throughout Aquarius, only slightly modifying it for little drum breaks present. (Ringo would be so proud he'd propose to me~) The countermelody is the HARDEST part of Aquarius, and exactly the thing that made me quit in May. Thankfully the countermelody came from a very LUCKY experience (and a trade secret) that allowed me to quickly make it up. I just copied the chord of the tu-bass and modified it to be fast and exciting. Now I've developed a totally new technique~!

Lastly is the closing song, Helper's Rest from Kirby Super Star Ultra's Helper to Hero (also known as the Ripple Star Map song.) I thought it would be a perfect closure since the song is about a partner's rest, TAC is a partner, and the song is about Tic-Tac relaxing. This features no percussion, just a soft little rendition. And the whole thing comes to a close on an imperfect authentic cadence. (At least that's what I believe it is and so I will call it that.)

This song was very hard to do for me, both physically and emotionally. It's laced with the lingering feelings I have for him, but I knew that cancelling it again just because I'm jealous wasn't what a true friend would do. But it also tested my skills as a chiptune composer and a crazy person. Somehow I managed to do the whole thing and I'm very pleased with the outcome. But now I deserve a freakin' vacation from all this. See you guys at New Year's. Goodnight everybody!

Default 12/31/13 "'New year, new me!' Haha, that's stupid."

New Year's Resolutions? Hah, I'm giving up on those. What's the point of picking one thing to change about myself now? I'm gonna be changing all year round, and I'm just gonna flow with it like water. I like the way I am now and I'm not trying to change that.

Now I've already gushed out most of the details on how my 2013 went in my anniversary post. It was a pretty interesting ride and I really enjoyed it. Would I ever go on it again? Ehh... no, not at all actually, but if was interesting going through it. Like... eating a ghost pepper for the first time. I know if I did I wouldn't ever do it again.

So now as the last hours of 2013 go by I look back on certain things. I nicknamed this year "Year of Happiness, or, Year of The Beatles." I certainly had some extremely lucky things happen to me, but my bad luck just came back like it always did. But one thing not even bad luck can take away from me is my immense love for The Beatles and all things related. Through this year my love has grown so intense from just having a handful of their songs to collecting their entire discography. And in late July I even flew all the way out to Las Vegas just to see the Beatles LOVE Cirque du Soleil show. So now that the year is coming to a close, what is next? I have been wondering if I should extend the Year of The Beatles like what Nintendo is doing with Luigi, but I can't allow that. It's too boring. It took a while but then I realized my other new passion growing in a similar way, my love for Jimi Hendrix. Though he wasn't in the spotlight for long before his death he released a lot of songs and each of them were crazy works of impressionist art. So I think it's fitting to name 2014 as my Year of Jimi. I did dress up as him, after all

So now there's nothing left to do but look towards the future. I can't wait to go back to school, actually, I want to make this the most exciting time in high school since it's my graduation year. I still have to blow everything up in the amazing way only I can accomplish~

Oh, also, I noticed there wasn't a 2013 awards thing this year. So I'd personally like to nominate myself for most badass badass, something I would TOTALLY win! Hahahaha! Yup, in your dreams Turty.

That's all I had on my mind. There won't be a party tonight, but I'm ready to end the day with the usual Rock Band session with my mom. So to all of you, HAPPY NEW YEAR YOU GUYS, I love you all~!<3 THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT, EVERYBODY!

Default 1/1/14 "God dammit Suicune, stop giving me so many ideas."

I am SO serious, if you do that one more time I swear I will set fire to innocent hot dogs!

So because I was issued a CHALLLEE- okay I'll stop that. Suicune's new Summers remix inspired me to do an Earthbound remix as well, because my competitive spirit won't allow anyone to be a bigger Earthbound fan (except Almighty Tomato.) I was scanning through the songs, but... I couldn't find anything to match it. Until I came across... Pokey Means Business! The song I tried and failed to do so long ago.

Now a few things were discouraging me from doing this. For one thing, the beginning was in fake 8-Bit (samples.) I swore I'd never do a song already in 8-Bit because my perfectionist attitude would crush me if I couldn't get the notes and all effects correct. Also, there are like a bazillion remixes of this song already on YouTube, and I knew I wouldn't compare to them because I'm just an amateur. Thankfully Suicune BROKE me out of that and I went at it screaming once more! I really wanted to do this because I wanted to hear the whole song in true 8-Bit and make the second part as gritty as possible.

The 8-Bit part was torture. So much that it took me two days to complete. It was full of 16th notes and patterns my ears couldn't discern. I nearly went crazy. So I used my creative license to make things a bit easier, and that's why it doesn't ENTIRELY match up but it's close enough (close as it's gonna get with my ability.) I almost cheated by slowing the down so I could hear the notes better, but, hilariously, I was too lazy to. It took a LONG time but my ears became sensitive enough to get all the notes (and still there were a few errors) and finish up the part!

THEN I GOT TO MY FAVORITE PART, THE SUBSTANCE OF THE WHOLE SONG. This part was very easy for me, I mean I already knew how to do the whole thing. This VRC6 remix brings back the classic Phil Spector Wall of Sound. While the melody plays through the new instruments the old instruments play a repetitive backing part to make sure all the holes get filled up with some sort of sound.
One thing I really hated about Earthbound music is the random sound effects, but somehow I was able to pull it off with a massive pitch slide.
Another thing I absolutely LOVED about this song was how FREE the percussion was~! Writing it out was like a dream~ That and the climax of the song right before the loop were my favorite parts to write.
This song went through 3 tempo changes. I think that's the most from any remix so far.

So here we are. This year I plan to do less simple 8-Bit remixes in favor of VRC6, simply because I like having more instruments at my disposal. If the beginning of the year feels this good, I can't wait for the rest. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 1/3/14 "Hey Groove, Don't Make It Bad"

So today I was supposed to school and see a lot of people I haven't seen in weeks. But guess what happens? A FREAK SNOWSTORM AND SCHOOL'S CANCELED! So now I was left in the house all alone with nothing to do and practically no one to talk to. I had a fit of depression and I just lounged around all day trying to shake it off.

But that's beside the point now. I was listening to a huge load of music because all types of music lift my spirits, when I randomly decided that I was far beyond the point of helping myself and just pulled out my bass because why not. I plucked a few simple rhythms when I realized my headphones were still on, so I kept them on while playing bass to the songs. And because of that I learned Lady Madonna, It's All Too Much (This one was so easy I had to look up bass tabs to make sure it was actually that simple), Get Back, Hey Jude, and The Ballad of John and Yoko. That didn't make me happy but it distracted me, so that's still a win! But when Hey Jude came on I decided to switch myself over to the LOVE album version, the one they play at the best Cirque du Soleil show. At the end of the song there is a bass groove that was hidden in the original. It sounds somewhat like this.

(He's good, but he's got the wrong notes. I'd like the actual song but I can't find it, and I certainly can't upload my song.)

George and Giles Martin wanted to make sure this album was a Beatles experience that enticed the fans and gave a new experience as well. They found the tape and replaced the boring part that was there with this new groove. It was fantastic and like upped the song to a new level~

I love this riff so much that I decided to go ahead and try recording it myself! There might be a few mistakes because I'm not a spectacular bassist yet, but at least I got all the right notes.

Though this isn't a sad song and I'm still mildly depressed, this little moment did make my day a whole lot less sucky. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 1/5/14 - 1/10/14 "A School Week in the Life"

This past week, despite the stupid scheduling with a 4 hour first class and a 30 minute last class, has been a lot of fun for me. So I think cramming it all into one post works well enough.

Sunday I was supposed to go to a friend's house but he had to cancel. I took the time to instead play Rhythm Heaven Fever all the way through on my Wii U, except for the perfects. Those I might do at a later date, if I feel like it. Oh my God I remembered all the songs I loved and I sang along with them all and I didn't even feel a little bit weird~

Monday was an ordinary day in school. Goofing around in Calculus. Harassing my friends. Watching Britain's Got Talent clips in Italian class. After school I went to Sym. Orch and we got a new song: Casino Night Zone! Oh God, the Sonic Gens rendition was so jazzy and I even got my own soprano part~<3 I came home to find another wonderful gift from Suicune... something I totally didn't deserve, but I love it much all the same.

Tuesday was so stupid We had a 2 hour delay for frigid weather. Like, do people in Maryland not own coats? Because of that it messed up the schedule, but THANKFULLY that meant I didn't have band for 4 hours~<3333 Sooooo thankful. We still had it but a whooole lot of people decided to stay home, so we had a relaxed rehearsal. Jazz band was also canceled because over half the members home.

Wednesday was an orchestra day when I learned how to do a bunch of neat stuff on my bass. The bow kinda just... deflated in my hand and all the hairs popped off so it's... done and I had to pluck (yes, for four hours.) During that time I also wrote Jigglypuff's Song because I was bored, hehe. We learned some phrases in Italian and learned about a test in AP Comp Sci. There was SUPPOSED to be anime club after school but it was spontaneously canceled so I stayed for Pep Band instead. Did I play an instrument? Lol no, I conversed with my friends who decided not to play as well. It was an interesting 2 hours waiting for my mother. I came home to more good news that left me with a disturbing warm feeling inside me. Emotions are so stupid.

On Thursday the 4 hour belonged to AP Calculus again, and we had a quiz. I know 3 friends who got perfects, and I think I got a perfect too. But I'm not being cocky, it took me 30 minutes to do 1 question. :L We did a blood lab in Forensic Science (but the teacher wouldn't allow me to use my own blood D: ) and we had A BOMB OF HOMEWORK dropped on us in the 30 minutes of AP Lit. Joy to the world.

And at last we have today. FINALLY it was AP Computer Science for 4 hours, and that was like heaven. For 2 hours we got to relax and I turned one of my friend-turned-enemies back into my friend. Then we took a REALLY hard test that was supposed to mimic 1/3 of the AP exam. To my good fortune I later learned I was one of 2 people in the class who passed~ After that I just turned my brain off, and lucky so. Italian teacher wasn't here so we watched a movie on my laptop, and the alumni came back to tell us about their college experiences (most of which I already knew because a lot of my friends are already in college.) I couldn't resist asking about the drugs, and I got an actual answer X3

The week ended with a Rock Band with my mom and me trying a new project with the piano. Maybe if it turns out better I can say more about it. Aha, goodnight everybody!

Default 1/16/14 "I have just read a book."

I hate pretty much everything about my life right now, but that's not important. The important thing is that I have just finished reading a book. And since there's no "Last good-ass book you just read or whatever" thread I'm gonna write about it here.

The book was The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The book seemed pretty interesting to me even before I saw a trailer for the movie, but I could never get my hands on it. Monday afternoon I saw some girl with it so I passed a comment on how I wanted to read that badly, and so she gave it to me. Like, gave gave. To keep and have. I didn't even have to steal it. I am so confused. I finished it around 6 PM today. It was a short little 212 page thing.

So basically it's about a very intelligent boy named Charlie who may or may not have a mental handicap, it was never mentioned, and how he spends his freshman year in high school. The book was written in the format of letters written to an anonymous person listed only as "Dear friend." Apparently it's supposed to be someone who listens well, but Charlie never puts a return address or gets real specific, as he doesn't want the friend to know who he is.

I enjoyed this book so much. The only thing I didn't like is that the first addressed date was August 25th and the last was August 23rd. Come on, no August 24th love? Jerk. :I I see myself in Charlie so much that it scares me. The only obvious difference is that I don't drink, don't do drugs, and I'm not a loser. But it was a rarity, at no point in the story did I begin to hate his character or question his actions for being terribly flawed. That would be like calling myself flawed. I think it would've been more beneficial if I had read this 9th grade year too, maybe I would've put in an extra effort to change some things. And now that I'm done with the book I can see the movie people won't stop bothering me about. After I sleep. A lot. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 1/16/14 "The semester is over! Let's... party?"

Well the 2nd quarter is finally over and classes start again next Tuesday, meaning I have a tastylicious 4 day weekend. If anyone deserves a break from life it's me, so I'm not gonna make a new song by Saturday. I plan to go see The Desolation of Smaug Friday, a friend's house Saturday, ice skating Sunday, and an interview on Monday. Monday also happens to be the day husband #2 stars in the new Powerpuff Girls special~ Ahh, can't wait.

I'm not sure what else to say. I guess I'll just point my favorite points of this stupid week.

Monday I hated because I had band for 4 hours. The one thing I wanted to avoid. Hilariously our teacher wasn't there, but a sub was and she was just being stupid. Of course none of us listened to her, but what you gonna do bout a class full of seniors? After school I had practice for my interview with Harvard on Tuesday.

Tuesday we got our tests back in AP Comp Sci, and I scored the highest in the class again. Unfortunately it was only a 78%, but that's because I missed the 2nd free response question (it was ridiculous bullroar, I couldn't waste my time with it) but the teach allowed the class to make up points for a better score. Jazz band was fun, even though we fooled around for most of sectional time. I started writing One Night in Neo Kobe from Snatcher, and hopefully we'll be able to play it. The interview went well also, I think the dude liked me despite how incredibly nervous I was~

Wednesday was bad for me. Each day I stayed up until 2 AM doing projects and homework, and in class I continued whatever I couldn't finish. Wednesday was the culprit of a lot of missed work, so I missed the entire AP Calc lesson on inverse trigonometric function derivatives to finish AP Lit work. I also had to cheat on a test, something I swore I'd never do again, so I already hit myself for that. I was supposed to have a Princeton interview but the dude didn't show up because he overscheduled his calendar. He's totally gonna have to suck me for that one, so I lucked out! (And I reeeaally didn't want to do it, I was sweating out my ears.)

Today was relaxed. At least I'd like to say that, I was worried about turning in the last bits of make up work. At least I had an amazing conversation with one of my friends. What started off as a competition on who knew the most digits of pi turned into a 69 joke when he said "Well what if 6 was 9?" and that lead into a full blown Jimi Hendrix conversation. He actually has ALL the albums, vintage. Sometimes people really surprise me when they listen to modern rap and retain good taste. My orchestra gave me an amazing compliment, and that's a first! Today was very fun and relaxed in Italian, so I'm thankful for that. AP Comp Sci teacher wasn't here so we watched Kill la Kill on our BRAN NEW COMPUTERS~ FINALLY!

And so here I am now, ready to get my relax on, and layer it on thick. More than half the year is over for me, I only have 4 months until my last day, and just the thought scares me. I have to continue to make the senior year more badass than physically possible, and I think I can see it happening for me. Wish me luck on the mysterious adventure of life~ Goodnight, everybody!

Default 1/18/14 "When You're Wide Awake..."

Say it for goodness sake. It's gonna be a great day.

Well today was a particularly fun day for me. I don't remember much of the morning besides getting caught up on Kill la Kill. So I'll skip to the fun part. I was finally able to go over my friend's house for a good ol' fashioned day of gaming. Before I went I bought A Link Between Worlds because I couldn't see a better opportunity. And it was a good thing I did...

So the first thing I obviously want to do is play Super Mario 3D World. But then the utters the word "Earthb-" and I stop him and force him to buy it right then and there. So I watch him play that for an hour. I'm just sitting there assisting him when need be and just laughing at how much he sucks at the game with arrogance as if I was Itoi myself. Ahhh, I love doing that~ He made it up to Frank before I left.

After he had enough EB torture, we finally got to playing Super Mario 3D World (Meoooow~) when his sister came down for some AMAZING 3 PLAYER CO OP ACTION! Heh. Now, for those of you who know me well, you would think I hated this because I'm more competitive multiplayer than cooperative multiplayer. WELL THIS GAME TURNS THE TABLES ON LIFE. The Nintendo World demo was NOTHING compared to my excitement playing the real thing. I got my own file (~<3) and we played all the way up to World 4. The co op was fun AND competitive despite the shared lives system and it felt much better working together in such large levels. The graphics and music were so beautiful I just had to stop them to appreciate the love and care put into this game. It's as if everything good about Mario games (except for the REAL Tanooki Suit) was put into this one holy package of perfection. It's my new favorite non-EarthBound game. And Bellissima Rosalinda plays like a goddess~ I would KILL to get this game. Why oh why does it have to be so expensive?

After I reluctantly tore myself away from SM3DW with the help of pizza we went back to one of our traditional Halo sessions. I can still remember the time we spent 12 hours doing nothing but playing Halo Reach... Anyway, I brought Halo 4 over and we were somewhere near the beginning of the campaign. On single player it's a nice adventure but with a friend it turns into a crazy mess. I'm backstabbing, and I love killing innocents, so I would just ruin everything constantly~ (It's fun, you should try it.) The times I wasn't doing that we'd try a strategy (mine being run in there and blow stuff up) and it'd work really well. All the while doing funny commentary that could only come up from two brothers. Like Game Grumps, only it's funny to me too because I'm there.

Then my mom came to tell me it's time to leave (as if, she stayed another hour like always) when I started playing A Link Between Worlds. My friend's sister saw me playing it and thought it was THEIR shared copy, and so she got touchy. So I decided to be evil and started a very terrible joke. I said that I was stealing it and that my friend thought it was perfectly okay. He went along with it. She got STEAMING MAD and EVERYONE else in the house fell for it. Even my mom and she was THERE when I bought the game. Oh, I couldn't stop laughing for a good ten minutes. Then right before I left he said I could have a whole JAR of jelly beans! Man, I didn't even know I liked jelly beans before tonight! WHOO!

And that's the end. I really hope I get to play Super Mario 3D World again, it was eeeverythiiiiing. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 1/20/14 "Code Yellow: 5 Day Weekend"

Yup, we have a code yellow going on for tomorrow. So that extends my days off from school into a 5 day weekend. That's a record breaker!!

Today I went ice skating because something else happened yesterday and it's a long story, but it was still an amazing day. Anyway we had a fairly large group that showed up for it. Now I don't know how to ice skate, but I can learn things fairly fast. Besides, how different is it from rollerblading? Well, it's extremely slippery. I didn't cling to the rails for long, but some of my other did friends. I teased whoever did a lot. Like a lot a lot. Aren't I just awful~? I started to lose it when my skates came loose but as soon as I tightened them I was at my peak! I even had a race with someone who was there! Then... I fell. And we left. Pity

After that I had my Princeton interview and that was nice. I came home and turned on the Powerpuff Girls special that I had recorded. Now the new art style wasn't a hit for me because it was way too asymmetrical, and the story was a little X&Y thought I think it picked up more in the middle. If this were adapted into a new show then I'd give it another shot, but I don't think it would do as well as the original. Moral Decay/Meet The Beat-Alls! will always be my 2nd favorite episode (I cannot remember my first favorite...) Oh, but every time Ringo said a line I just melted from sexiness overload~ "Octo-Pi's Garden, ohh you're all too much~<3

And then I got the no school notification. So tomorrow is TOTALLY FREE!! I guess I'll work on music and stuff since I have nothing on my plate. Now that I'm playing Earthbound again I've made it all the way to Summers and I could beat the game in the next two days. A Link Between Worlds is also going great, I just made it into Lorule and Hilda >>>>>>> Zelda <3 I also totally love my jar of jelly beans ohmygoodnessIcan'tbelievehowgoodtheyaremaybethisis whymymomdoesn'tbuymesugar GOODNIGHT EVERYBODY!

Default 1/25/14 "I don't want to spoil the day, so I'll party."

A friend called me yesterday inviting me to a birthday party today. My cocky attitude had to be doubly suppressed so I could accept. Thankfully.

So Friday morning I beat The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. I guess I can give a little review on that. For one thing, the game is definitely nonlinear. Sequential, but nonlinear. Parts of the game are chopped up into sets and different dungeons are added within each of those sets. The largest set is at the ending with 7 dungeons you can take on in almost any order (one of them can't be last.) Ravio's shop further enhances this, as do the behavior of the weather vanes. If you're renting an item it's more of a challenge to not die since there is no saving mid-dungeon or else you'll lose all of your weapons and will have to backtrack to re-rent them. By the time you buy them all you either A.) Rupee grinded too hard, you bounder, or B.) Are already at god mode and just want to have them upgraded. The game definitely does not hold your hand and only pesters you to take breaks (which is natural since the system presumes your 3D is on at all times.) And the Energy Gauge. Unlike the Stamina Meter from Skyward Sword which was stupid and prevented you from doing anything, the Energy Gauge prevents you from spamming anything (unfortunately this includes the hookshot and the boomerang) and forces you to learn them skillfully. It is THE Zelda experience. Not enough heart to top Wind Waker, not enough story to top Majora's Mask, but the gameplay is so on point that it deserves its spot as my 3rd favorite Zelda game. After all, being 3rd best is the most important thing (Hahaha, the reference.)

Directly after beating it I decided to start work on a new song, one from the game. I settled on the Lorule Overworld, also known as a Dark World theme remix. It was one of the sexiest songs on the soundtrack, and also I felt some "slight nostalgia" from hearing it (From Brawl, not ALttP.) The parts I chose were 2 channel flamenco guitar, 2 channel bass, 2 channel percussion, and a 2 part melody. The melody was particularly easy to write, the notes didn't get too crazy at any point in the song. The rest of the song meshed together a little too well and so they all form like this blob of sound. Nothing really stands out, but it reminds me a bit of a Jimi Hendrix song so I think it fits. I have my friend to thank for the first half of the percussion. It used to be simpler until he said "Where's the *insert sixteenth-triplet beat* sound?" so I rewrote it for him and he approved. Amazingly, the entire song sounded better afterwards.

After finishing I made a video and put the song on my iPod, but I didn't upload it to YouTube. It was time to go straight to that party, and off I went. It was a shame a lot of the invites were sent out at last notice, so some of my closer friends couldn't make it. However, it was a fairly good turnout, and there was a lot of Brawling. Apparently I'm the best Olimar player that they have ever seen, even though I totally suck I also played Crash Team Racing for the first time ever, and it even comes with a hilarious story. We were doing battle mode and it was neck and neck. I had 1 health while my friend had 2, but I was determined to do my best! So I slip behind him and hit him with a missile, which launches him into a TNT crate and I win! And that just happens to crash his PlayStation. My win was so amazing his system couldn't handle it. I can't remember how long I was laughing.

And now that I'm back I've uploaded that song and ate some delicious food. I'm so tired I could just pass out. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 1/26/14 "The Reasons of Why I Love Music"

This was originally gonna be titled "Why I No Longer Hate Rap Music," but after watching the Grammys I decided to change that to all my musical tastes.
Instead of a summary of my life, I'm gonna take this post in a different direction and explain my musical tastes and what they mean to me.

Classical/Orchestral:
For those few who dislike the use of the term classical.
Here's our start, the roots of all modern music. This started it all off with the structure of music theory. It allowed for simple minds to learn and grow into skillful composers (or if you're insane, to just mash all the ideas together.) Everything was very tight and boxy, but the instrumentation varied by the person playing it and it usually had more purpose beyond pure entertainment.

Blues:
The original soul food. What I like specifically about some blues are the vocals. In order to sing the blues you have to have the blues resonate through your vocal cords. That leads for some powerful grooves you just can't resist. It also created a very simple chord progression that worked successfully with the genre and became on of the most popular in the world; the 12-Bar Blues.

Jazz:
Jazz! The evolution of ragtime, Blues++. This took the structure of classical and the soul of blues, sprinkled some personal spice on top, and then had a jam session. There was a whole lot less formal structure in jazz, it's like the casual Friday of music. It's all about personal talent and what you can achieve with your instrument. The two instruments that dominated were the sax and the piano.

Rock (With the occasional roll):
YEAH, ROCK AND ROLL! Another evolution of blues, but this time it was all about the guitar and the sound. My particular favorite bit of rock is just the sheer level of instrumental capability. The things guitarists, drummers, and sometimes bassists do with their instruments wows me on a regular basis. And the further along rock goes as it transitions to hard rock, heavy metal, and death metal, the instrumentation just gets more and more fierce. It takes a spark and talent to lay down the right rock tune.

Pop:
Okay well this one is pretty simple. I love pop music for the reason all pop fans do, and for the reason why it's pop: it sounds good. It's catchy, the chords are tasty, everything just fits. It was meant to sell and it is its own reason why. Now not everyone is a pop person, I mean, even I wouldn't be if I wasn't an everything person. It plays it safe and the words of the vocals don't mean too much, but it's there if you just need something anything to listen to. (With exceptions like Michael Jackson who made pop music with a purpose.)

Disco/Dance/Skate:
This is yet another simple explanation! Disco is the evolution of softer rock that played more with funk and the beat. It was light and made you wanna get up and dance. The thing I loved most was the bass, of course. It was usually done on a bass guitar with octave intervals or just funky bass lines in 8th notes, either slapped or plucked. Truly inspiring, and also very hot~

Rap:
Alright, the actual focus of this post. Now I've said many bad things about rap music before. A lot of it to myself, but some also out loud here and there. But recently I've been listening to more to have something to base my opinion on. Rap music is all about 2 things: the lyrics and the rhythm. Real rap comes straight from the artist's life and cannot be faked. Ideas are poured out onto a paper and then a beat is attached where then rhythm comes out. Rap lyrics tell stories of varying degrees; some tell of success, some cry out for change, others can even just be a day in the life. Modern rap even has some of this, but it's prominent in earlier rap songs. The way that it's conveyed is what makes me love it so much. And when rap songs sample, ooh they do NOT disappoint. I dislike most modern rap songs because the stories they tell are quite stupid and nearly 100% unrelatable.

Country:
Just for the record I hate country music but I'm gonna take some time out to explain why I appreciate it, at least. The lyrics are very down to earth and personal, and so each song feels like the blues gone down south.

VGMs:
Yes, I still consider this its own category, especially older games. Not necessarily chiptune, but all the way up to GameCube and even beyond. VGMs can span a lot of different styles, and I have many examples from the same game (found in the favorite VGM thread.) Since most games do not feature live instrumentalists it allows the composer to throw together ANYTHING of their choosing just by arranging it with a program. This allows for even TASTIER jams by creating some things that would be rather impossible for most musicians, but insane ear candy to the general public.

The Beatles:
Hmm, this is a good one. Why do I love The Beatles? The Fab Four sexy group that won my heart over in November 2012. Their music spanned plenty of styles and they just continuously proved OVER AND OVER that unification is possible through love. Whether they're playing rock and roll covers, their experimental pieces, or classic ballads such as Georgie H's Something, you can hear the individuality speak out through their playing and singing. And oh boy Ringo, he matched up his drumming not just with respect to the song, but the singer and his style. His drumming carried them through, and I believe he had the most fun out of them all. And that's what music is; fun, soul, peace, and love.

Jimi Hendrix:
Ooh, here's a better question: Why are you my new obsession? I don't feel romantically attracted to you, and I didn't start listening to your music at a turning point in my life. But that's what made his effect even more powerful. To rival my affection for The Beatles just by playing his music is incredible. They might've pioneered psych rock, but Jimi gave it its substance. He played what he felt how he liked and how he loved it. He got an amazing jazz-fusion drummer and a solid bassist to back him up, and he assumed the roles of both rhythm and lead guitarist. One less than The Beatles (and even less voices as he was usually a solo singer) and the Experience had a tremendous amount of sound to them. Jimi proved that soul rock music could be pushed even further through sheer passion.

There it is. If I skipped over a genre it's most likely because I forgot about it or I don't listen to it enough for it to have a defining feature in my mind. Now, how should I finish this? Oh yes. HAHAHA ALICIA KEYS CALLED JOHN LENNON JOHN LEGEND IN FRONT OF YOKO, HAHA! A FAIL I'LL NEVER FORGET! Goodnight, everybody!

Default 1/28/14 "String Bass vs. Bass Guitar"

There was practice yesterday and today for the two bands. I guess I might as well put what we're playing here. YouTube video hunt! (Note: I'm adding the original songs, but we're playing different arrangements.)
Georgia on My Mind- Hoagy Carmichael

Brazil- Ary Barroso

I Can't Turn You Loose- Otis Redding

And lastly but not leastly... actually, it would probably be "greatsly."
Sax Quartet- Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts

If anything I'll try to get Sax Quartet recorded. It would be amazing to share and look back on one day. But it also needs the most practice, it IS Yoko Kanno after all.

Now what's with the title? Well today I had to play string bass in class and then bass guitar to teach a friend how to read the sheet music. That made me think, "Hmm... two instruments so similar, yet different in significant ways." Their defined differences can be found anywhere in the world, but I'll give a short little reflection on my opinion.

The string bass will go first since it came first chronologically. I've grown on the string bass quite well in the past 5 months. It has two huge elements of playing style; bowing and plucking. The popular jazz bassist normally plucks, but bowing is also rather important for creating cleaner tones. Unlike most guitars this instrument isn't fretted and so it requires a larger level of skill to memorize the positions where your fingers should be. This also makes moving positions a bit of a pain if you relax your fingers by the slightest bit. It's also one of the largest instruments I have ever seen, and I only have the 3/4 bass. The size allows for the thick strings to properly resonate the low pitches, otherwise it'd never be heard. The sound is deep and natural, and you can feel it vibrating your body as you play, especially when bowing. One fun thing I love doing with mine (and pretty much any other bassist) is to spin it around any time I have a half rest.

Now here we are at the bass guitar, the instrument I've had since March 2013. It's a whooole lot smaller, so that makes it more transportatable! It's certainly lighter than a double bass, but it's heavier on me because the weight drives into your shoulders instead of the floor. There are 3 styles of popular bass playing; plucking (jazz standard), picking (rock optional, though becomes more of a requirement the heavier it is), and slapping (FUNK!). I'm very upset I still can't slap, but I'm very good at the other two. Setting it up is a lot easier because it takes up much less space and doesn't require you to rosin up a bow. However, it's practically useless without an amp. It's not hollow like an acoustic bass so its sound doesn't travel unless it's plugged in. It's fretted (though there are fretless versions out there) so figuring out where your finger goes for the pitch is no problem, but that means sliding is not as simple as on the double bass. The sound that comes from it is a nice low electronic sound, and that can be altered depending on what your amp settings are and by the knobs on the bottom of the instrument. Bass guitars are found normally in jazz fusion and rock, where they lay down the musical foundation. Right next to the drums they are the most important part, though usually their parts are simplified for the sake of rhythm. The strings aren't as thick as a string bass's, but they dig into your fingers all the same. Creating new bass grooves is my passion~

Experiencing both is great, as only through their differences can you see their unique qualities that make them shine. Very similar yet very different all the same. That's why I play both, choosing is for sissies! Goodnight, everybody!

Default 2/1/14 "Your day breaks, your mind aches."

I'm finally DONE with everything. Now it just has to be processed and submitted. Therefore, this post is being made during midday instead of at the end of the day like I normally do.

Today was the last day for my college interviews and also the day of the last college application to be sent. Today has otherwise been very normal and uneventful for a Saturday. Decided to go on one of my regular nostalgia trips, this time through Facebook as well as VR. It was nice to look back on my life when I wasn't concerned with death so much. And I also found this parody I made for my Beatles fanatic friend!

"And Chatot Can Sing- The Turtals

Tell me that you've caught every Pokémon
And Chatot can sing
But you can't catch me! You can't catch me!

You say you've beat all eight leaders
'Cause Chatot's Eye's Keen
But you can't beat me! You can't beat me!

When some wild Nosepass
Start to take you down
Just get out the tall grass
I'll be 'round, I'll be 'round.

When Chatot sees defeat
Will it bring you down?
Maybe at the Elite
I'll be 'round, I'll be 'round.

You tell me that you've used all of the TMs
Like Chatot's Steel Wing
But you can't use me! You can't use me!"

Such a beautiful blend of my Beatles fanatics and Pokémon craziness. Haha, goodnight everybody!

Default 2/7/14 "I can't hide!"

Oh no I can't! You can't either! We all can't hide from the 50th anniversary of the British Invasion! So what did I do to celebrate this momentous day?

Well, actually I forgot, to be honest. I don't care too much about America or the American Beatles albums, so I mostly listened to post-breakup music during school (that or Frozen.) But as soon as I found out I made sure I extensively listened to I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You, two of their most amazing early singles that reached American radio. I'm still not sure what made it such a buzz but there were a lot of screaming girls in the videos and excitement in the pictures. I'm still getting ready for the Ed Sullivan Show anniversary concert on Sunday.

The rest of the day was pretty relaxed and generally non-Beatles related. I always wear my LOVE pin, but no one other than me ever seems to talk about them. I think I saw one girl wearing the Beatles sweatshirt and I had to stop myself from yelling out "Let me marry you!" In general my classes were easy and the day was average. I was feeling a bit sad again but it's nothing I won't get over in a few days. Oh, and also a very special shout out to Suicune for the Flabébé that I unfortunately skipped out on when I visited Nintendo World. I named her Stacey~

Even though it's funny how this is my year for Jimi, it's a wonderful time to be a Beatles fan. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 2/9/14 "The Beatles: The Night That Changed America"

Hey guys! I'm extremely sick right now and it's an amazing thing that I'm still alive. But then I remembered today was the day of the tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. For the tribute they had a great lineup of artists do covers of Beatles classics, ending in the 2 remaining Beatles performing together. This was the first time since Friday that I've smiled and didn't feel like crap.

The show was a mixture of clips, performances, biographies, and Paul and Ringo talking about their Ed Sullivan experiences. I can't remember the names of all the performers, but it was a long list of people from all styles. If there was one universal thing, it was that there were a loot of guitarists. There were great renditions of songs like Something, Revolution, Let It Be, and others. My favorites were a tie between Hey Bulldog and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The dude from Eagles rocked out the latter, and normally I hate that song. They also had these really cute biographies of all the Beatles, most of which I already knew but getting a refresher was nice. But then that was followed by something I didn't know, when they brought out audience members of the Ed Sullivan show and had them give their stories. It's amazing to see the screaming teenage girls now that they're all grown up and settled. This cycle kept going on until the end of the show (quite annoyingly, there were a lot of commercials.)

So then the show ended with Ringo and Sir Paul. Ringo came on first singing Matchbox, Yelloy Submarine, and my personal favorite BOYS~!!! That's my gay song~! Then it was Paul's turn and he did Birthday, Get Back, and I Saw Her Standing There. One, two, three, FAH! Then Paul and Ringo took the stage together to do Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band/With A Little Help From My Friends and Hey Jude. I didn't think it was possible but they were even more beautiful than they were on the 26th, and this was recorded just a day after. I really loved watching it and it made me shake off most of the bad feelings I've had since I got sick Saturday morning. I wasn't able to move just 5 hours ago but when they took the stage I was dancing and singing (moderately, I didn't want my coughing to drown out their singing.) It's a good thing I recorded that, I'll have to watch it again and again and again... goodnight everybody~

Default 2/14/14 - 2/16/14 "My Weekend At An Anime Convention"

This weekend has been an amazing experience for me. But what could get better than 3 days full of nerdy fun? How about... when you get in for FREE~! Yup, I had a friend that got me on the PR Staff, and that meant free admission for a little work. And what was that work? Taking pictures of all the good cosplays. So basically what I was planning to do anyway. HA, aren't I just so lucky?

So since I hate traveling everywhere alone or just being alone in general I hooked up with my good friend (and unfortunately his sister) to spend the weekend with. We got there Friday and it was huge. Not as big as Otakon, but the Gaylord Hotel was a Vegas-like spectacle. The cosplays were definitely a step up, too. They could've called it Frozen-con with all the Elsas and Annas present X3 (And I got pictures of them allll~<3) That day we didn't get through with much because I was totally unprepared and I had to wait 2 hours in a registration line with my friend. We got out at 4:00. I hate being alone that much. We went to like 3 panels, ate, and then went home. But it was just Friday. The REAL fun happened-

-SATURDAY! We got there at 10:30 and we were more serious about that. There were so many more pictures to be taken and a lot more excitement. The game room there was more my style: arcade machines left and right, Project M, and a cluster of Touhou. We spent a long while in there, especially playing Turtles in Time (it was FREE~!) We saw quite a few things, the two I remember specifically were the panel on creating interesting characters and how to make music for anime and games. The dude's composing was beautiful. We also scoped out the shopping places so we knew what we would want when we returned for Sunday sales. The day ended with a great performance by an anime quartet; clarinet, trumpet, euphonium, and tuba. The two songs that stood out to me were the Mega Man 2 medley and Pinkie Pie's Smile Song Jazz Rendition. Her clarinet playing was soooo tasty~ Ahh...

Then unfortunately it was Sunday. People were leaving in bulk when we came at ~10 AM. Apparently "They all turned up at the 18+ panels last night and are satisfied." Man I can't wait until I'm 18 so I can rent hotel rooms, too :I We ran to go buy some things before there were all eaten up because that's really what Sunday's all about. I promised I wouldn't buy anything, but I caved and got some buttons so my Beatles LOVE pin wouldn't have to be so lonely anymore~ My friend and his sister got pins as well and these alpaca things... they were kind of cute but I refuse to admit that. Unfortunately because the weather was bad a lot of the panels ended up being canceled, but we at least managed to go to a Pokémon Game Show. I didn't get picked to participate which was half good and bad. It was good because then I could shout out answers without the embarrassment or pressure, but bad because my other best friend (who just so happened to be there) got chosen and... he is really stupid, so just KNOWING him was embarrassing. Thankfully he's a great comedian so his fails were twice as entertaining. Once that was over we waited to see if anything else was on, but things were getting canceled left and right. Eventually we got too annoyed and had to leave. It was pretty sad...

But that doesn't mean the weekend was bad! Not at all, that was the most fun I've had in a while. I got a great deal of amazing pictures for myself and my friend that got me the job. The amount of StreetPasses I got was incredible, I was able to finish all my puzzles and beat Find Mii II twice. I even got to steal a poster... I mean, it was unclaimed, so it was totally fine. Now I'm even more experienced with not only conventions but with human interaction, I can actually TALK TO STRANGERS. Otakon is only 6 months away and now I feel totally prepared for the largeness again. I can't wait to dominate that weekend. I almost feel happy again. Goodnight, everybody! Hope you guys had great weekends, too!

Default The morning of 3/6/14 "I can wait another day."

This won't be particularly long. Or interesting. Or worthwhile. If you're reading this you might as well stop right now because it's just not worth your time. I just can't sleep because I took a random nap for some reason and now I can't go back to sleep. I need to do something to occupy my eyes so I won't fall asleep accidentally and wake up and 12. If you're still here, you must really like me. That's a serious problem.

There are two musical things I'm working on so I might as well talk about those. For the past week or so I've been working on the arrangement of One Night In Neo Kobe from Snatcher for our school's symphony orchestra. So far it's going good, I only have 5 instruments left out of 13. The song can be found here. The song is very jazzy, so I didn't write anything for strings, but it's okay because some of our string players can man a wind instrument as well. That's what I like about our band, our teacher encourages us to just grab and play whatever instrument we can get our hands on, especially cause most of them are broken. Our school is hilariously poor. I, of course, as soprano saxophone have given myself the melody. Then there's a sexy bass part I gave to the tuba. Everything else is just like playing with chords and it's really fun. I'm doing it for my friend because he really loves this song and I just want to make him happy. Plus, I get a ridiculous solo at the end.

Another thing I'm doing with my Beatles fanatic buddy at another school is a performance at her coffee house thing. At first we were gonna play Boogie Wonderland but (thankfully) she was having trouble with the chords and she changed it to Lady Madonna. That one is A LOT easier to play on bass, and it was hilarious because I learned the entire song hours before she posted that on Facebook. Now I'm working on tightening up my part so that it's perfect, maybe I'll even get my bass looked at one more time. I got it down so well that I started improvising on a few parts. We haven't had a group practice yet, but one is scheduled for this weekend and I'm looking forward to it. The event is on March 19th or 18th, I forget, but maybe I can record it or something and that would be so much fun. I can't wait to have my first bass performance.

Being here is a drag. Lately there's been a lot of activity and it's pretty nice, but who knows how long that'll last. There are plenty one-off threads which are good for polls and postcounts, but I don't get as much of a discussion vibe anymore. Things are looking bleak for me again, but I know that sheer optimism is a force that can move mountains. I have to stay positive no matter what. I think I'm hallucinating from being so tired. Time to end this rambling paragraph. Goodnight everybody, or in my case, good morning good morning.

Default 3/14/14 "Why must it be so long?"

It's really been a while, hasn't it? I don't have much to say so this is just whatever.

This week was pretty good. But also pretty bad. I officially hate my school and I can't take any of the classes seriously. For example, in this paragraph I'll slam my AP Lit class and why it's such a joke. So I go into the class and the teacher herself is a joke, as she doesn't take the class too seriously either. I don't blame her; she manages the senior class, teaches 120+ students in the same subject, and pretty much has senioritis herself. However, that doesn't help me in class. She doesn't teach, rather she gives us books and practically forces us to read and answer questions on large sections every other day. We don't really do anything in class, we just have that routine. Then we take a test on the whole thing, or some dumb project. To some people it might sound like a normal thing or that I'm overreacting, but it's not how I learn. And the class is supposed to be about learning for the AP test. Considering how my score won't even be considered and how being in that class is a waste of time, I just skip often. I don't care if I pass that test or not, it's free anyway. And my grades? I can have someone change them for me. I couldn't care less.

The rest of school is like that besides AP Calc, AP Comp Sci, the musics, and Italian 4 (sometimes.) So now I focus on me, myself, and I and what makes me truly happy with my life. There was a lot of band this week, and that makes sense since Festival is tomorrow. First, I finished my arrangement of One Night In Neo Kobe. For those who have Finale or some other third thing that reads .mus files, the link is here. I also exported a song file of human playback so here that is as well. I rearranged it in big band jazz style so it sounds slightly different from the original. Also the big sax solo is gone because I wanted to do improv soloing. It's gonna be fun. Tuesday and Thursday I had auditions for Coffee House at my friend's school. Tuesday we did Lady Madonna and it sounded pretty good. It was stupid at first because I didn't realize the volume knob on my bass was all the way down... Thursday we did What Does The Fox Say? because... well, I'm still not sure. It was something we came up with only days before, so thank God it's only 3 chords. This'll be my first time performing bass live if it happens.

Today was the day of the Anime Café. 9th Grade we did something like this where we showed a couple shows and served Japanese styled food. Today's was a whole lot bigger. It was in our large cafeteria with a big screen display of Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, Gundam, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Cowboy Bebop (in that order, 2 episodes each), desserts, and popped corn. It lasted from 4 to 9 and I stayed for it all. Originally I was gonna be a maid (note, not butler) but the president said he ran out of space (lies.) So I just got a few things and patiently waited for FMA. The best part was when I asked my friend to borrow a dollar for a slice of pie... he just told me to take the whole thing and gave me $5. He didn't even say to pay him back. So obviously I flew over there on the wings of an angel and grabbed that whole thing and started to CHOW DOWN. I named her Delilah~ Delilah was delicious~ I guess that's one way to celebrate Pi Day, huh?

Now I've gotta sleep as Festival is tomorrow morning. And I may or may not wake up from this sugary pie hangover. Wish me luck! Goodnight, everybody!

Default 3/15/14 "Are you still afraid?"

There's nothing to be scared of anymore. I know what I can do and what I will do.

Today was an amazing day for me. I loved it so much. Let me break down what happened before I pass out.

So first I woke up extra early because I was nervouscited about Festival. I was somewhat down because the University of Chicago officially rejected me, but I didn't care too much. All I was focused on was getting a 2. But no, not even that could happen. After playing our 3 songs we got comments only. That's "You're too sad for an actual score, you just need help." The other people played fine, but I think they were being unnecessarily harsh to us because we didn't even sound that bad. Sightreading, however, was terrible. I haven't done it in 2 years and we didn't practice that at all this year. Hilariously the song was titled "Foiled Again!" and just like that, we were foiled again. No one could count because the song was in deceptive 2/4, had plenty of accidentals, and lots of other things we weren't used to since we haven't seen it in quite a while. All in all that was the worst Festival I've ever had. I won't play in an ensemble again unless it's one specifically for fun, like the video games orchestra or jazz. I'm much better as a solo act.

So, why was my day so good again? Well after that I went to this surprise birthday celebration for my half-brother's second wife's grandmother. She turned 86, and that's impressive. The whole thing was too emotional for me, but it was a very sweet occasion. They also had this ridiculous video of everyone dancing... that unfortunately I was in... Oh God it was awful. And then after I got home I also learned that I was accepted by Georgia Tech, so I have something to fall back on. My future isn't totally bleak after all!

There was also something that I started today! Yes, tod- well... technically yesterday, but this post still falls under Saturday! I'm sure we all know of the source of inspiration, but I decided to do an 8-Bit remix of Ice Path/Dark Cave from Johto. Specifically the GBP HG/SS version because a.) it's on my iPod, and b.) I prefer that to the original 8-bit anyway. This one I knew how I was gonna do after listening to the song for ~2 hours straight. Instead of syncing the two 2A03 pulses and two VRC6 pulses, I decided to mix the two together. So one 2A03 channel and one VRC6 channel formed the melody and another set formed the counter. It made for some pretty interesting sounding chords. The bass was relatively untouched, but I threw in the usual Sawtooth bass boost. I lucked out because adding Saw brings in the classic bass sound of the GB/C. The percussion lacks DPCM unlike all my other VRC6 remixes only because I thought it was totally unnecessary even as a backbone. I decided to use the modern HG version for drum inspiration, and I also upped the tempo a bit. The original was boring and slow.
Now if there's one thing about mysterious caves, it's that they gotta be mysterious and they gotta echo. So I went for either very high sounds or strange combinations of different-bit instruments. That lead to some strange... occurrences that I can't seem to prevent. On the first time it loops the melody backs out and becomes more... let's say "soft and icy" instead of loud and echo-y. I decided to keep it in instead of investigating any further. To get more of an echo without using my actual echo technique (it would've been too distracting) I let some notes hang over an eighth note after the end of the measure, but real soft. Oh, and all that vibrato also helps a bit. I believe the advanced percussion helps thrust that new livelier tempo in your face while adding some adventure and danger to the mysterious cave vibe. I still don't think it's my best, but it got me out of my sunken state with FamiTracker! I can continue on making tasty chiptune jams!

I really do love that song. So much that I've already learned how to play a lot of it on my bass. Since I'm such a good solo instrumentalist I might just do this whole song by myself one day soon. But we'll see, the future's bright ahead. Goodnight, everybody!

Oh you have? Well then, let me take the time to smash it right here right now.

THAT SONG WAS BULL$%^&*. Okay, so it started off okay, our director was given time to view the score, flipping through pages like a badass. I was sitting there thinking "Holy hell, I don't know HOW to sightread. It'll be okay, I just have to play like the amazing musician I am."

Oh. My. God.

The paper looked like a freakin' Grade 2 when I first saw it and it was in 2/4 so I expected it to be a little baby march. But the bpm was 156 and even then our director was a tad bit fast when he snapped the tempo for us. Clapping it was easy, and so was looking through it for dynamics. Then our time was up and we had to play it.

Now I'll only say this once; F*%&. Percussion.

Those idiots can't do a single thing right. We started the song sloppy and that threw us off from there. I heard people constantly saying "1, 2, 3..." and then stopping because it's FAST and in 2/4. There's no enough time to think about counting and by that time you're already 5 measures behind. But what was the thing that especially screwed me up? Playing two bass instruments. Learning how to read bass clef was so easy that sometimes I even forget how to read treble clef, which was a major problem here. I couldn't get the fingerings down for clarinet properly and I was struggling and I wanted to cry. Eventually I dropped out so I could figure out where I was to jump back in. But apparently EVERYONE HAD THE SAME IDEA BECAUSE WE ALL WENT SILENT AT ONE POINT IN THE MIDDLE OF A PHRASE. On top of that there was this stupid sixteenth note rhythm I couldn't get because I didn't know how to count because 2/4 threw all my rhythm off. Thankfully I got the last note, but the last note in the song was played very weakly.

Never in my entire life as a composer will I ever use 2/4. I'll do 12/8, 3/2, maybe even 25/16, but I will NEVER use 2/4. ^&* the song. $%^&* the time signature. %^&* the judges. We were foiled again.

It's almost like you're talking about my band right there with the percussion, lol

Sorry you had a rough time with it. Our band had a generally alright time with it. I know how you feel, though.

Default 3/17/14 "When you're feeling that way."

I am doing this post for one reason and one reason only. While I cannot come to a conclusion on what my favorite Beatles song is, I do know for a fact that my favorite album is Revolver. And I'll state the reasons as to why that is.

Revolver is the middle Beatles album. It was released right during their transition phase from fresh pop band of Beatlemania to the experimental creative adults from 1967 onwards. It was jam packed with all the creativity The Beatles couldn't wait to unleash. They hadn't quit touring yet, but were already preparing for it as they didn't play a single song from Revolver in any of their 1966 tours. They claimed their music was getting too complex to play live now that they started having more fun in the studios. In addition, George Harrison started becoming more comfortable with songwriting and more into the Indian culture, and that started to be reflected in his songs. All in all, Revolver was just a *BANG!*

It starts off with Taxman, making this the first and only Beatles album to start off with a Harrison song, and it's instantly a new flavor from anything they've done before. It's his rage on how corrupt the government was, which is the truth (and Georgie loved to speak it.) That leads into Paul's Eleanor Rigby, the first of many songs featuring a backing orchestra rather than the actual band's instruments. From there it's Johnny Boy's I'm Only Sleeping, a song about how depressed and tired he was. That was also unique in the way that George plays the lead guitar notes backwards so that he could play them back in reverse order to fit the dreamlike quality. Just 3 songs in and there's nothing but imaginative wonder. And that keeps going on and on.

Love You To is George's breakout sitar/Indian styled piece. Here, There and Everywhere is... well a typical McCartney ballad but with an interesting chord structure. Don't tell anyone, but I hate Yellow Submarine... Then we've got She Said She Said which has Lennon's famous varied time signatures and ALSO some of Ringo's most amazing drumming during his time in the group. It helped that they were all on acid. And Your Bird Can Sing with its double guitar melody. I Want To Tell You, George's official theme for introverts. Got To Get You Into My Life, Paul's ode to pot backed by a rhythmically smooth jazz band.

And that all leads up to my favorite song on the album, what I believe to be the best album closer of all time. If there had to be one song that pioneered the psychedelic rock era, it would be John's Tomorrow Never Knows. Starting off with a classic Ringoism, John went off on a tangent writing the song's transcendental lyrics. Then came the mad experimentation. Plenty of things were thrown about for this song; more backwards guitar solos, tape loops, the invention of automatic double tracking. George Martin said so much was done to make the song that it couldn't possibly be repeated from scratch. As George Harrison described it, the song is more than just a song, it's us. It's what life is. Two chords plain and simple. It brings life and the album full circle, a revolver. That's why it's my favorite album, because to me it's more than just music. Goodnight, everybody!

P.S., Now I know what PRS meant when he said Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows was his favorite part of LOVE. That thing was like a ROLLERCOASTER. I can't wait to go back to do that again.

For No One is similar to Paul's earlier You Won't See Me only with less harmony since his is the only voice, and the harmony is what made the earlier song more appealing. But if you want comments-

Yellow Submarine was the Ringo song for the album that Paul wrote. Very childish and cute, yet perfect for Ringo's voice. It was a winner, and I still melt whenever I hear it.

Good Day Sunshine is another one of Paul's love songs, however this one pales in comparison to Here, There, And Everywhere. It's less soft and more rock, but it just accents his skills as a song writer, pumping out great hits.

For No One is another one of Paul's please to his then girlfriend Jane Asher. She totally did not love him and so he poured all of his feelings into the song. This was a motion starting in 1965's Help!, but since then more and more songs would be based on the individual Beatles themselves rather than simple points of interest.

Doctor Robert... is a John song. I don't understand it and therefore I don't know how to explain it. The obvious thing is that it's about a doctor who drugs everyone (y'know, cause John didn't do enough of those) but there's no real turning point significance behind it. John was always pretty cheeky.

Default 3/20/14 "An Unexpected Set of Circumstances"

Today was an unexpected amount of fun. I'll give you guys the details.

So it started off as total BS because I only got an hour or 30 minutes of sleep. I was trying to go the whole night but I couldn't go on any longer because of my general sadness, and the more sad I get the more tired I am. My eyes were burning like acid from the lack of sleep. I barely had time to fix my lunch and pack my bags.

I woke up after a long, long day in school. First period I was surprised to learn that my newest best friend has the same issue with depression as I do. It's not a good thing, but it's nice that I can relate with someone and talk about it. Spending the day with him was more fun than those previous as I was waking up. Second period is still useless, so I went to sleep. Third I mostly woke up and helped people with math, and fourth we practiced our stupid sightreading. We're gonna be playing a grade 5 for Spring Concert.

Then as I was going home one of my friends comes up to me asking which bus is mine. That's how I learned he was going to my neighbor's house to practice a brass quartet (Two euphoniums, tuba, and trumpet) arrangement of Happy. I decided to join them because anything was better than doing homework and watching the walls. They sounded pretty good, when they actually started playing, that is. A lot of time they were goofing off. When they got done practicing they basically invited themselves into my house for food and Rock Band. At first I was gonna object, but they said the two magic words so I couldn't really resist. We played a handful of songs; I can remember Free Bird, 25 or 6 to 4, and The Beast and the Harlot; and I played not only bass but drums and guitar as well. It lasted a long while until we switched to Brawl. I played many rounds of that with my friend David until around 8 PM, and that's when he left.

It was a strange occurrence, but it also was a very good thing for me. I had fun. It also got me to pull out my soprano to practice. I was able to fix my stuck G-sharp key AND I relearned how to do vibrato! Today was an excellent day. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 4/3/14 "Treat Me Like You Did The Night Before"

Well I haven't made a post here in quite a while, but now I have decent enough motivation. Tonight is the night that is before the day which is tomorrow which is my first ever performance on bass.

I teamed up with one of my oldest friends (3rd grade, yeah!) who shares a similar love for The Beatles and a few of her friends to form a band for her Coffee House thing. We were originally supposed to play Boogie Wonderland, but she was having problems (thank God, that bassline is too much for me) so she switched the song to... get ready... LADY MADONNA. Coincidentally, I happened to learn that bassline literally hours before she posted that, and so I've been working on tightening it up for the past 3 months.

It's been a long time and only 3 practice sessions but tomorrow is the night of reckoning. I've done all I can to prepare and so I think I'm pretty confident. Confident enough to share this preview with you guys! This is it ->Lady Madonna.mp3 <- I won't be the one doing the singing during the show, except maybe that simulated brass vocal, but I wanted to hear so the bass part wouldn't sound as empty. There are some shaky bits due to the tone not being perfect (I blame the bass ) and the guitar sounds a bit funky due to me recording with a Rock Band microphone and a bathrobe, but after mixing it I think I fixed it up quite well. Sadly there are no drums and piano because I don't own drums and I can't play piano, but I did what I could.

I haven't been making 8-Bit music as of late either... I'm sorry for those of you who actually enjoy the results of my little hobby. Something I've been doing more frequently is actual sheet music writing for OTHER PEOPLE. I know, no more selfish solos, Turty? That's so unlike you! Well if I wanna spend half of the rest of my life game and film scoring I have to learn how to write for other instruments. I mainly do it for the symphonic orchestra, and so far I've done One Night and a sax quartet of Yoshi Star Galaxy. Things in the works are Battlerock/Dreadnought Galaxy (with the Cosmos Illusion intro) and a rock version of Wily Stage 1. Since I can see thing in sheet music form easier I suppose I could turn those all into 8-Bit remixes all smooth and easy, but we'll just have to see. Well, except the Mega Man one, I'm writing the sheet music from the 8-Bit version I did

Well the hour's getting late, so I think it's time for a wrap up. Tomorrow's gonna be the 2nd best Friday of my life and I don't want to miss out on a single minute of it! Goodnight, everybody!

Lady Madonna always reminded me of the Dr. Mario "Fever" theme. Nice playing and singing.

Default 4/4/14 "EUPHORIA!"

I was gonna talk about the whole day, but screw that, the night was the only important part.

So when I got there at 6 I had to shake off all the initial excitement to not seem like a total goober in a room full of veterans. I make sure everything is okay at least 80 thousand times; I have my guitar, my tissues, my phone, everyone's tickets have been distributed. I just can't believe the day actually arrived. All I did until 7 was nervously pace around, and then the show began.

I finally get a program and it turns out that our group (TLA: Three Letter Acronym ) is the penultimate before the big band closer, so I've got a while to wait. Halfway through and the acts are really great. That's when DISASTER strikes. The stupid screw on the jack of my guitar is loose AGAIN so I start hand screwing it back when... pop. It comes off. I try not to freak out, I mean, it's not like I can't just fix it later. That's when I noticed... the jack fell in the gaping hole underneath the plate on the surface.. Yup, I just broke the guitar. So I calmly start dying on the inside. I had to miss like 3 acts running around looking for people trying to fix it. We even had to look for a backup bass just in case it couldn't be fixed... but thankfully someone came through for me in the end. We got the jack to slip out and let gravity assist us in properly hand-screwing it tight. But I'm still taking it to a shop ASAP. XI

Crisis averted, I sit through the rest of the show, slowly whittling down on performances until they get to 27. I go backstage and prepare while I nervously finger through the chords again... it was almost time. That's when they called us; "TLA: Three Letter Acronym performing Lady Madonna!" I rush onto the stage and I try not to be too excited again... but this time I can't help it. The wave of euphoria just washed over me while I played the song. I messed up twice but I pretended like it never happened and quickly got back on track. People were bobbing heads and I heard someone call out my name. It was perfect, and I loved every second of those two minutes.

Hours after it ended I still feel the effects of that wave of euphoria. It was quite possibly the greatest night of my life. But you know what I'm gonna do now besides eat and sleep? Try my hardest to do one even better, because I can't stop moving forward! Goodnight, everybody!

Default 4/14/14 "The Joys of Not Living"

Don't berate me for the date. It's the usual "I don't count the date switch until I fall asleep" stuff and I really meant to make this post a lot earlier.

It was 5th grade when I got my first phone, a flip phone. I needed it so I could tell my mom when Chess Club meetings were over so she could get me. I had that until 8th grade because my mom got annoyed at the way I texted on the numpad so she upgraded me to a texting phone with a slide out keyboard. That got old fast for me, so in 10th grade, just 2 years ago in March, I upgraded that to my Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

So my phone has been on a gradual decline for the pas few months. The battery is becoming useless, the phone overheats very quickly, and the screen pixelates quite frequently. These 3 issues occur so often that my phone can become inaccessible for up to 24 hours, and that's really not good. I've been bugging my dad about getting a replacement since February but his lazy self wasn't trying to move anywhere. Well the day has finally come and I got myself a Nokia Lumia Icon. A Windows Phone~ I already sampled iOS (too restrictive for me, especially on a phone) and Android (the OS isn't constant/fluid and support is dropped if you don't have the "Droid Shield" phones) so I wanted to move up to Windows. From what I've seen and used it was just like Windows 8, easily customizable, very fluid, and simple yet sleek. It sounded very me, so I decided to go for it, despite what everyone else says.

"Do you really want that phone?" "It's so terrible." "It has like no apps." "People return it in two weeks." Cooooonstant crap people were giving me trying to talk me out of it. Well an important thing that they didn't know; once I have my mind set on something it does not ever change. People might've had their experiences, but I want my own. After all the stupidity at Verizon I got my phone Sunday and started setting it up. And I don't understand what anyone was talking about, so far it's one of the best I've used, and the camera is fiiiiine. I'll have to keep playing around with it to find all its secrets, but so far it's too good. The only problem I had was I had to temporarily change my birth year to 1995 so I could download apps. I can't wait till I turn 18 only so I can stop being age-restricted from everything I want to do.

And what will become of my old phone now? Well, I'm not just going to get rid of it after all the memories and attachments and the fact that it's still a gaming device. Now I'm free to do whatever I want with it. I'm gonna try removing as much pointless Android stuff as I can to ease the processor and have myself a "fake PSP Go." Most important thing will definitely be ripping the ISO from my PS1 Pong game to the phone's built-in emulator. Now I can have fun experimenting with it again without worry of decreasing its functionality.

Now, completely different from that tale, my spring break vacation officially starts when I wake up. We're taking a road trip to my prospective colleges; University of Virginia, Emory, and Georgia Tech; and also to see my grandparents. Over that time I'll also procrastinate any and all homework, work on some FamiTracker stuff, finish arranging the last 2 songs for symphonic orchestra, and continue to learn FL Studio. Hopefully by the end of April I'll be able to belt out something simple from FL Studio. And I haven't forgotten my dedication to 8-Bit remixing, in fact I just got an amazing inspiration today. There's also a couple secret live projects I'm doing right now... something more than just bass and winds. The only thing I can say right now is that they're all Paul McCartney, but it should be interesting to do. One song I'm not going to be releasing anytime soon because it's the song I want to "propose" to, whenever I may find that special someone. It's my most favorite song by Paul from the Beatles to Wings to now.

Whatever is left on my mind is probably just the ramblings of a tired wild-thinking free-floater. I think that just about covers everything so far. My whole life is ahead of me, but I don't know if I'm ready to jump on it. But it's still gonna grab me whether I'm ready or not. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 4/16/14 "Ever woken up with a gun under your pillow?"

Because I did this morning. Thought it was a box of cookies.

This post is for the song I just made but I might as well chronicle some other things. Liiiike

Quite literally all day I've been trying to find out why my phone wasn't connecting to my laptop. I thought it was some driver issue so I've been resetting and modifying different things all day. Then just a few moments ago in an act of desperation I decided to turn off the phone... turned it back on and it worked. If you'd like to laugh at my stupidity, now's the time.

We went to the rehabilitation center to go visit my grandfather. He had a stroke a little over a month ago, I assume the day before I went to Festival. He's been doing better but he was in pretty bad shape when I went there... that or just tired. I'm gonna guess he was tired. The building itself was very nice, but it made me very uncomfortable. I don't know how to explain it.

Someway somehow my headphones broke. Oh wait no, not the actual headset, but the cord. Part of it has been frayed for months without any audible issues, but looked down today to notice that the jack had been snapped in half... and I don't know why. This is gonna be a setback for my arrangements and the general "I can't function without 12 hours of music a day" syndrome I have. Hopefully I can convince my dad to get me a replacement ASAP before I lose my amazing pitch recognition skills. I need to practice so I can obtain perfect pitch!

Now here we are, at the song. The song I chose for today's remix was Balloon Trip Breeze- Night from the Wii U's Nintendo Land. Why did I choose that song, exactly? Well, it was simple, short, beautiful, and it was swing-era jazz. Mostly reminiscent of My Favorite Things or Take Five, if you're closely analyzing it. It was a song that spoke to my heart, and from what I heard the only song in Balloon Trip Breeze without an 8-bit form, so I decided to rectify that. So I started out with the rhythm track until I noticed it wasn't syncing up the way I wanted to... because it's swing. The rhythm isn't static, it has an offset on the offbeat. So I had to add a 3 frame delay on every other 8th note, a new skill I think I'll use in the future. The main instrument is something like a jazz oboe, with backing piano. For the percussion I made a jazzy cymbal beat to go with the tone and to simulate the rolling waves at night. The melody had a lot of vibrato so I tried to simulate that without making it sound too robotic. I was generally more gentle with the details in this song, more manual volume control and bass cutoffs. Still, it was very simple to do and it only took me a couple hours to do everything in FamiTracker. Equalizing in Audacity definitely took longer since I messed up the channel exportation at least 5 different times. But hey, the final product sounds nice and repetitive as it may be it's good background music.

Now the time is 2 AM and I have to wake up to start my official college tours. Then I have something else planned in the evening. Gonna be a big day, so goodnight, everybody!

Default 4/20/14 "Making a Double Joint"

This post is dedicated to my mom, the greatest driver in the world. Screw NASCAR.
Don't take the title as a 4/20 joke.

So a lot happened today, and in the week in general. I won't get on with the real personal stuff as I'm still shaken up by it, but I'll go over the "double joint" I mentioned.

For my spring break I went on a college tour. I went to visit the 3 that accepted me; Georgia Tech, Emory, and University of Virginia. It was really between the first two, though, because I hate Virginia. Georgia Tech was like a tightly kept city and it was cool to explore. When I finally reached the computing building it was like heaven. They were even having a Brawl tournament and it took all my strength not to sign up. Other than that, it seemed perfect for computer science. Then on the other hand Emory had a more open "secret garden" feel to it that I thought was pleasurable. It's got a nice computer department as well as a great music department. So naturally I was like "Screw Virginia, they ain't got nothing to convince me because they're Virginia and blah." Boy, I couldn't have been more dead wrong because it was BEAUTIFUUUL. Sweet lord, the campus was one of the most amazing things I've seen besides Las Vegas and it was almost just like all the college fantasies I've been having for months. But still, I have to do a lot of research to make my final decision by this Saturday. It's gonna be impossible.

And that brings us to the 2nd part of our double joint. As amazing as the University of Virginia was, I still hated the state, especially for it's drivers. Like, I thought the people in Maryland and perhaps Las Vegas were bad drivers? Driving should be outlawed in Virginia. So first my mom was just driving towards the university because, as you can imagine, it was quite a ways away from Georgia. We were just rolling along when this guy decides to turn from the right into the lane in front of my mom. Now normally this'd be cool, but THERE WAS NO SPACE IN FRONT OF US. And it's not like there was a lane to the left of us, nothing but grass. So the guy was literally about to push us off the road if my mom didn't do her super-quick defensive maneuver. Then because she was furious she sped up, shot past that guy, and then aggressively didn't let him pass until we got off at an exit.

THEN there was a second time. We were rolling down the road casually, this time away from the university (did I mention it was beautiful?), at a decent speed. Then as we were rolling this car came up about to exit from a T-junction. Now there are 2 lanes, and we're in the one away from the sidewalk, so the car could've easily went right into the other lane. But no, he waits right as we almost pass to pull into OUR lane giving my mom NO time to slow down or anything. Defensive mechanisms kick in again and she swerves to the opposite side of the street, putting us at risk of having another car run straight into us. But thankfully none were there and she gets right back in the lane in FRONT of that guy.

BUT WAIT, there's one more. But this time we're so done with Virginia. Stupid rules, stupid drivers, stupid traffic, everything just made it unbearable. So my mom's all like "Screw it, I just need to get home now" as we ride behind this slow moving truck. She lost her temper quite quickly this time and attempts to swerve around the truck because he was so much space in front of him and her car is obviously faster (Mustang, just in case you needed to know.) But this time there actually WAS a car heading towards us. But no big deal, right? The truck would just gracious- oh no, IT STARTED TO ACTUALLY SPEED UP IN AN ATTEMPT TO NOT LET US IN FRONT OF IT. So we were caught between two types of death and I was just praying that wouldn't be the end for me cause there is soooo much I still have to do. My mom goes hyper clutch mode and with no room for error speeds up just enough to get in front of rude Mr. Truck Guy and avoid crashing into the guy coming at us. Then with virtually no more serious issues we made it back to Maryland.

I'm so glad my mom is a confident driver. She makes things more interesting even if I nearly lost my life 3 times today. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 4/27/14 "My Life with Mr. Koala"

This will technically be about the events of Friday. But I'll throw in some today as well.

So today I finally got my life together, right as I go into the last 3 weeks of school. It's a lot of personal details, but I'm finally happy, independent, and optimistic for whatever happens next. Also, my mom got a new phone. She's not dealing with Verizon anymore so she switched to T-Mobile. I think that's good for her, she needs something simple that she doesn't have to negotiate too difficultly with. I also went to rent a tux for prom, it is on the 16th after all.

Now, Friday was amazing. It was senior skip day so obviously I WENT TO GO CRAAAAAAA- oh wait no there was a field trip. So wait... I've been planning senior skip day since the 9th grade, but should I instead go with this free field trip I only learned about a couple weeks prior?

So the field trip was for all comp sci and AP chem students to the science convention thing in DC. The Washington Convention Center was beautiful, Otakon DC is going to be amazing when it opens! So I spent the day with my 2 friends who are girls (man, that is really awkward to say in English, I like it in Italian more) and we had a screaming good time. We went to all the different booth fooling around with all the different stuff. We made a bunch of stuff and got a lot of things. There's even a picture with all my spoils to attach. We got to make flubber (and steal a lot of it, too) and it was crazy fun sticking it to everything and molding it into... shapes and objects... yeah. I finally made my own kazoo after all those years of desperately wanting one but being too lazy to make one of my own. I started with Crosstown Traffic and by the end of the day I was able to play all my favorite songs. I'm majoring in kazoo, you guys! We used the power of teamwork to extract DNA from a strawberry, and we were so great together that we extracted the most out of anyone who tried all day! This one booth had something absolutely disgusting... edible bugs. They were like dried (and fried, I think) but just the thought was freaking me out. But I'm a wild guy, so I tried it. The mealworms were alright, but the crickets were DIVIIIIIIINE. I'd buy a bag of those and eat 'em like chips. There was also a giant button collecting contest... we competed to see who would have the most buttons. One of my friends thought she was fancy with her like 9 buttons. HAH, YOU'VE GOT NOTHING ON MY COLLECTION, AND I GAVE 2 AWAY! All in all it was an amazing field trip as they usually are, and I'll never forget that day. I felt like a kid again~!
I also had to deal with a lot of Microsoft Xbox bullroar over my new phone... that's still unresolved. It won't let me transfer my account to my Windows Phone's email, so I can't download apps like the panorama picture app and all Microsoft licensed games, like Minesweeper of all things. And it's still unresolved and just thinking about it makes my head hurt.

Apparently there was an upstairs and downstairs. We were up but we never had the time to go down.

Also, I have made my final decision. It took a lot of deciding and debating and fighting and squirreling, but I decided to go with the University of Virginia. It was so very difficult... Georgia Tech is excellent for computer science, but I'm not sure if the whole school suits me. Virginia has the better computer science between them and Emory and their campus also looks nicer and... when I was there I felt at home. I felt it in my gut and so that's where I went with. I'm still a bit shaken up, but it's the first choice of many more difficult ones I'll have to face. But I sure am thankful for everything that's got me this far. Here's to victory! Goodnight, everybody!

Default 5/4/14 "Bill Trinen is Cute"

This post is brought to you by Bill Trinen, but more importantly, his cuteness. Just look! How can you deny this adorable face?

Okay, and now on to the actual post.

This weekend was like a set of try-and-fails. Friday I tried to have fun eating all the food at the Italian Food Convention I made a tiramisu cake for. Instead, it operated in the exact opposite way I thought it would and I had to steal slices of my cake to give to friends because I promised them a slice. Unfortunately that means I didn't get my own, but I split with my mother. It was really good, and who gives a damn if you can taste alcohol? But I do think it needed to be dripping with coffee a lot more... something to think about for the revision. Saturday I tried to take a nap... but I just couldn't. I don't think I know how to nap, I MUST NOT BE NAPPING CORRECTLY. Instead I got a load of Avatar and Danny Phantom. Watching Avatar really makes me miss all the Kung Fu I used to do... *sigh* Today I tried doing week-old homework and practicing for my super huge symphony orchestra performance on Tuesday... and instead we went shopping for prom outfit stuff. I guess the end result here was at least more beneficial than the other two days, but I was super picky and nothing was bought in the mall other than a pretzel dog and 2 tickets to TASM2. Movie was terrible, but it had my favorite part so I don't care.

I'm closing in on my last couple weeks of school and it's all very weird for me. AP tests begin Tuesday and end Thursday, so after that it's easy sailing until they kick me out, haha. Well, I can't say I wasn't expecting this would happen, but I really do wish I had some more time with my junior friends. Especially... the ones I just met this year. I'm gonna start crying all over my keyboard or whatever, so I'm just gonna end it here. Goodnight, everybody!

Default 5/18/14 "The Life and Times of a Lonely Rolling Leaf in the Wind"

With a title like that this post has to be an epic, right? Well I sure hope it is one. The last 2 weeks of my life have been a pretty sweet ride, the best and worst times in my life. It took all weekend to really soak in the large feeling of no longer being a grade school student, but now I think I'm finally ready to recount my experiences.

Monday the 5th was very depressing. It was the start of my penultimate week of school, just the day before a very large performance and the day before my 3 day string of AP tests. Not much happened other than preparing myself emotionally for what was to come. A lot of this time was spent with my new best friend, a man I shall refer to as Chadworth Brownington. He has helped shape me a lot over the year, and has even been elevated to the status of becoming my new muse. There's a lot I have dedicated to him, and so it's very sad leaving him after just one year. Tuesday was the AP Computer Science exam, the test of all the computer science I learned in just one year. I think I did particularly well, especially since the short answer section wasn't as evil as I thought it'd be. After that test I got myself ready for the symphony orchestra concert... and it was a huge blowout. We put on a café with an Italian theme and we separated our songs into two setlists. My song, One Night in Neo Kobe City was the closing act, and my two solos were killer. It was one of the greatest feelings I've ever felt in band. The next day was the AP Calculus exam, and although still not as hard as I thought, it made the AP Computer Science exam look like child's play. It took everything to finish the multiple choice, but the short answer was definitely trick after trick as I couldn't even finish all of them. After that was a birthday party for my girlfriend and a Smash Bros. tournament... I didn't do too well XD But then after that it was senior awards night, and I received two for being near the top of the class and another two or excellence in the Italian and Math departments. I didn't think I was going to get that many, so I was pretty overjoyed. The last AP test was AP Literature, and it was such a joke. Not the test itself, but the environment, and I didn't really care about the AP credit (I took the classes for the GPA boost, I'm taking all those classes in college anyway) so I tried my best. It... was something you really had to be there for, but it was unbearable. I was so glad to get out, and the day after that was just another Friday. I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders as the 16th drew near, the day it all ended.

Monday the 12th rolled around, and I promised that I'd spend every day that week doing something special with Mr. Brownington. However, he had the AP Bio exam that morning so I couldn't really see him. I did all I could to wish him luck and prepare him and spent the day working on plans for the rest of that week. Tuesday was the first day I spent simply relaxing with him, and also the day of the Italian Honor Society Induction. I've been in it for years, but I had to be there to honor the new inductees, and I also made a new rendition of my alcohol-filled Tiramisu cheesecake. A lively event that was a good chunk of the day. Wednesday was also a dress up event, as that was the day of the school's spring concert. This time I felt much MUCH better about playing bass in front of all those people, even if the songs were deadbeat easy. Luck was shining my way as I saw Chadworth right before the show started, and I believe that empowered me to play my absolute best during the concert. The advanced band played all of Folk Song Suite, and we made it sound impressive. For the last bit of Turtwig-based quirkiness to grace the band with, I broke from clarinet and played the very last song on soprano saxophone just as a memento. (That was also birth of my offensive drinking game, take a shot every time the gospel choir says "Jesus." Being offensive is so much FUN.) Thursday and Friday were spent trying to get signed out and getting all my yearbook signatures down. It was very emotional and I was almost brought to tears many many times... It still hurts thinking of all the friends I had to leave behind without a choice. Friday, specifically, was Chad's birthday, something I had been planning for months. I baked him a cake, threw him a party, lit candles (it was slightly illegal to bring some of that stuff ;D) and gave him Sonic Generations as a present. I thought it was be better in his hands. Even though he's straight he's someone that I love very much and I can't imagine happiness without his face showing up, so I had to honor him justly for his birthday. That Friday was also the day of the high school prom, that magical event dramatized on every single high school drama you could think of. It was something I had planned since LAST year, just because I didn't want it to be another lonely night. As it was quite possibly the last outing I will have with my girlfriend before we split, I made sure it went perfectly. We didn't go for flash or awards or anything too much, we just wanted to have a great night outing, and we made sure just to have that. Then, that was when I had to cry. It was way more incredible than those cheesy dramas and I wish I could relive the magic. Plus, the food was deeeeelectable (yes, I have to give credit to the dinner. So necessary.)

The only things to look forward to relating to school now are the graduation practices, senior cookout, and the actual graduation itself. After thatbI have my graduation party and then afterwards my future is unplanned and very... scary. High school was basically my entire life; it, along with Victory Road, was what shaped my personality. That's when I realized that, if you look at it a certain way, high school can be synonymous to the journey of life. Though it's just a 4 year process, it really is a series of growth stages, character building, and wild experiences. Then you leave to a future relatively unknown. Not everyone is prepared for that "death" but no matter what it's something you have to do, because it's all part of life. I'm not afraid anymore of what my future could be, because I know I had the time of my life and left quite the mark on my high school. Where in the hell where they get another songwriting soprano saxophonist? There's also all the great memories I made with my friends and that'll stick with them all throughout their life and even into death, because I made sure one unforgettable thing about myself would definitely be my unusual and quirky personality. And my bucket list; get honor roll, become popular, get a boyfriend? Well, all of that was completed in a way. I always made the honor roll, I became much more loved than I thought I'd ever be, and I even found a heart with a home inside Mr. Brownington even though we can't technically be together. There are no real loose ends to tie up so I can move on without any real regret. I've made some serious bad choices and I'd want to replay some parts of my high school life with alternate endings, but in the end I'm only human and I can't always play things out perfectly like in my plans. I don't think there's anymore need to ramble on, because this lonely rolling leaf's gotta roll on to newer things. I've got more projects to work on in the name of Chad now that I have time and I'm not technically finished signing out (the process was BS, I hate my school :I), so until we meet again,

GOODNIGHT, EVERYBODY!

And with the quote I use to reflect on all of high school:

"I did it for love." -Freddie Mercury
"All you need is love... and a little bit of fire." -Aaqil TurtwigX Abdullah's senior quote

Default 3001: The Final Turtyssey (Is This Really Goodbye?)

As I type this, I have returned from the orientation at the University of Virginia. It was a nice, quaint little place filled to the tip with the friendliest people I've ever known, and everything is so calm and relaxed. The food is excellent and even has my Italian cravings, and I've already made me a really good friend. Hell, I auditioned for the marching band on clarinet, and the dude said if I switch to baritone I'm in. CHA-CHING, in just two days I scored myself a new instrument. I got my classes scheduled, though most of them are going to change, and basically the future for me is looking good. That doesn't apply to all areas of my life, however.

I was hoping that I would have been 18 years old before I had to type something like this. The way I see it, Victory Road is on a constant decline, in the same way that an old person thinks that pop music gets progressively worse with each new generation. Really early on I had so many friends and coming on here was a blast each and every time, and now that's dwindled down to maybe 3 people if I decide to talk to anyone at all. I could go on and on about how Cat can't properly administrate or what I would do to make everything better, but no. I'm just going to let it go. But not without saying goodbye in my own special way. To start, I want to give some, eh, testimonials to my top 4 favorite people I've met on VR. Also, dig my reference I made.

JDxImpetus AKA DJ Sooty

Now I know we didn't have much together, but it was what we had that separated you from the other noise at the time. When I talked to you it was because I needed a real friend and no one was there but you. You gave me great advice, great inspiration, and what a great taste in music you have! I have to thank you personally in a way that is open to the public for keeping me so entertained and for thinking about me over the years. We didn't have much memories or much conversation due to how late in my stay I met you, but you definitely made your mark if you made this list of exclusives. Forever honored by your adorable name, DJ Sooty you have earned a spot in my new team, Team Victory Shadow! Thank you for being my friend.

Eagles AKA Algae

Why is he second in a rising list, shouldn't he be at the top or at least above Tic-Tac? Well, I'd consider them equal in a way, but this positioning has meaning. Though you've left Victory Road a while back, we go back even further than that. You were one of my first friends along with Charizard98, although you went by Totodile777 (but I just called ya Dilly.) When you were reborn as Eagles I embraced you as though you were someone else, but when I first left Victory Road you called me back just by telling me your "secret identity." And even though I came back, being the COMPLETE ASS you are, you left like a month after I signed in. Or maybe I'm exaggerating, that whole year was bad for me, but the point is we went way back so we're close. I feel like I could tell you anything, and I really do, I put so much faith into you. I care about you deeply as if you were my own sorta slow younger brother who although being two grades behind me is actually only half a year younger. The things you've done for me and to help me through hard times, on and off this site, is endless. And it's still going on since we're never out of touch. But even though you've shed your role as Eagles, you'll always be TurtwigX's best friend. Fly on in Team Victory Shadow, buddy, because you deserve it. And though I don't think this'll reach you unless I do it directly, you can do more than you think you can do. All you have to do is keep trying harder and harder.

Cat333Pokémon AKA Tic-Tac

Not my first love, not my last, but definitely one of the more important ones that has shaped my life and the way I view the world. Let's see, what are some other things I've called you? Jerkface, stupidly cute, ass with Asperger's (that's a fun one), and many others which I have not told you in person and probably never will. Now I could sing that same old song about how the road has been so rough since we've been together but I'm always so glad I took that path~♪ But you know, I think it's time for a new one, and I'm definitely gonna try. When I first met you, I was an immature loser that still thought pirating video games made you the edgiest kid in the classroom. And at the age I was at, it was what I needed to fit in and feel like everyone didn't hate me. When I came here, despite the strict rules, that's still what I was all about; pleasing people through a bright smile with some dirty humor. I've loved you in different ways from the moment I first learned about you. In fact, the first real feelings I felt with you were when you gave me permission, no, encouraged me to play your Ho-Oh remix at one of our school's events. And that was before I even identified as bixesual. So I developed a sort of mentor-student bond with you where I just wanted to be like you in any way possible. I studied your videos and wanted to try everything you do (I also felt something because we both used VirtuaNES; you for playing remixes and me for… ya know. All the other kids I knew used some other NES emulator, so I thought we were too cool for the rest.) Eventually as I got more comfortable with you I started asking you how you did what you did, and that's when I was introduced to Mario Paint and FamiTracker. Though the former was a bit of a flop, the latter I definitely stuck it out with, and look at me now. I'm probably better than you, HAHAHA!! But anyway, it was such a great feeling you were giving me, like the father I always wanted. Then I fell in love with you somehow, which is just as creepy considering I still looked at you as a father. Because I felt comfortable with you I decided to share, and you made the STUPID mistake of not ending it there. Oh, the drama that ensued, but I don't regret any of it. If anything, I needed that drama. I needed to be shown that the world doesn't always work the way it does in your fantasy. That was something I needed to grow up, and I did it faster than anyone else in my school. Through multiple disappointments over the years I eventually matured more and more to the person I am today. I still have multiple flaws, but hey, I'm only sorta human. And thanks to you, whenever I get the urge to do something illegal your voice pops into my head like Professor Oak saying, "Now now, you know you shouldn't be doing that. Don't disappoint me." In fact, I'm even buying music for the first time in 5 years! I can easily say that I still love you, but all children outgrow their parents, and now is my time. I've never said it to you directly, but you'll always be Father Tic-Tac to me. We're more than JUST internet friends. Come and take your spot in Team Victory Shadow, dad. I'll come back to you when I need to borrow money for some books or something

Reuniclus AKA Suicune, JellyBean, and Mr. Chex Mix

Okay you guys, I need you to stay with me for a bit, because I'm about to gush and get really f***ing emotional on an almost disgusting level. And to you, my Suicune, consider this a final reply. I love having the last word. We first met in 2011, on a dark and stormy chat night. We were both young and stupid back then, and looking back on our old conversations makes me laugh at both of us. But more you than me, because you were still stupid. We'd be on and off PO and we'd do whatever together because honestly we could be talking for hours about a whole lot of different stuff. And that'd be perfectly okay, because I just freaking LOVE to spend time with you, man. There was always something about your charm that was just so positive it made me gravitate towards you. It reminded me of… me, cause I'm usually the one that does all the pulling. You jerk, you were stealing my thing! Whenever I needed someone's ass to kick in games you were always there, whether it be Smash Bros. or Kid Icarus or Mario Kart (though it took me a long while to hop on the Mario Kart train.) You've shared some of your secrets with me and I've told you practically everything about myself since I don't really have any secrets. Like you said, we could talk endlessly about Earthbound because besides Bluey you were the only person I could do that with, and I talked to you a whole lot more. Sometimes I thought you were actually trying to take my title as Mother 3 aficionado, but it did help create the interesting rivalry we had. It was almost like you were always there for me, and when you weren't I didn't even feel like being on VR, or I'd just bide my time waiting for you to show up. When I returned to VR in March of 2012 you were there to welcome me with open arms and we picked up right where we left off. I swear, you must have some sort of black magic about you because no matter what we were doing, no matter how stupid it was I'd always be having the time of my life. Even though you stole the love of my life from me and almost ruined my life forever I still had nothing against you. You almost DROVE ME TO INSANITY, but you were still my best friend in my eyes. No matter what I didn't really have the bones to hate you with. All my favorite memories of Victory Road involve you in some way or another. ESPECIALLY the Jeopardy games when you'd say those ridiculously freaking stupid things, INSTANT CLASSICS. You're like a bagged Ringo with your malapropisms. And beside all the fun, I could come to you for anything, because you are the most unnecessarily positive person I know and you make me feel good about everything. That's why you were the first producer of my 8-Bit works and why you got the first special birthday song. Eck, I'm driving myself to tears bringing up all these ridiculous memories of you. I can't find one negative thing about you that I could hold against you (except for your love of geology, but everyone needs to have their stupid fixations.)
Suicune, you probably were the person who loved me the most on this site. I mean, 4 packages each with INCREDIBLY great gifts inside of them. I've used, treasured, and cherished each and every one of them, even the stupid packaging (it's not stupid to me, though~) I'm definitely taking each and every package to UVa with me, that way I can feel like I have a piece of you always with me. Now you're in college and you've completely moved on from me and it makes me as sad as ever, but I can't be mad at you. You're finally LIVING YOUR LIFE and the way you want to, not the way I'd hope you to. I couldn't be more happy for you cheering from the sidelines. I still can't believe you actually… you gave me that game. You gave me Mother f***ing 3 as a graduation present. That was literally the best thing anyone has ever done for me. Ever. But did you have to leave your save data on it? It took me days to bring myself to delete the first one so I could finally start my first authentic run of the game (but I'll never delete your Chapter 8 data, oh no.) Getting used to the combo system on the actual cart took forever, but I finally made it to Chapter 3! And I only had to use a guide twice! Saying "thank you" isn't enough to show my gratitude, but I think love is. And I definitely love you. But you know, when you love someone in every way possible, in a way that is so perfect that it's maddening? Those are your best friends. Don't ruin it, because it doesn't come often. Sometimes it only comes once, but it definitely comes. It came with you. And although I may not need you anymore there will never come a time when I don't want you. I still want you. Because SHE'S SO HEAAAAAVYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! (…Bad time for a Beatles reference, but I couldn't resist!) Well I guess there's not much left for me to say… so come and take your rightful place as the leader of Team Victory Shadow. It has to be you, certainly not me. You've earned it twelve times over in my heart. You are my favorite person on Victory Road.

There are also a few honorable mentions. Blueumbreon, who is a really cool dude and shares love for the Mother series as well, but we simply didn't talk as much as we should have. SpikyEaredPichu96, for being an avid reader of my blog posts; and although we never really talked I've seen you a lot in the chat on that room I never went into, I think we would've been cool friends. And to all the others that are no longer with us that I can't list by name due to rules and just the fact that it's too much damn typing.

So now, all I have to do is look towards the future. And what does that hold for me? Well, college obviously. Gotta get adjusted to that and hopefully I'll stick with my Comp Sci/Music double major or I'll be in a lot of trouble down the road. I plan to make a whole lot of new friends at UVa and even start a band, and maybe find my one true love (I'm such a romantic hero.) But nope, Virginia is just the beginning of my epic saga. I can't think about grad school right now, but I'm definitely going to go big time with my band and start a video game company that will eventually rival Sony and Nintendo. I want to become a big name rich and famous person, straight to the top! And when I reach the top, I'll spend all my time pulling people up from the bottom. In a capitalist world the little man can't make a change all by himself, he needs to possess powerful influence. I want to achieve that and use it for the greatest good. Then I'll finally get recognition for what I've done; not to have my name on it but to show that anyone can do anything if they want it in their hearts.
As for my future here, well I did say Victory Road was my first, last, and only forum. So that's a no to the question in the title, this isn't really goodbye. I'll still be around to maybe talk to friends, I've still got more songs for my conceptual album Birthday Greetings (though as it stands it's probably going to be a double EP), and I'm definitely gonna post more of my content as it evolves (SHAMELESS!) But now I've outgrown the daily life of frequenting an internet forum, and I'm looking for new things. Maybe I'll tell you what I see when I get there, but you'll know when I get there. Sayonara.

Default 12/19/2017 "Mad Dash to the Finish Line"

Hey there all! I haven't been really keeping up here... school is awful

But now winter break is in full effect. And only for a couple weeks since I have to do a J-Term (two weeks of classes in January before spring semester) so I can graduate on time. It's annoying, but a guy's gotta do what a nearly failing basket case's gotta do.

In terms of break plans, I'm moving stuff from my old computer to my new one so I can give it to my mom. I'm gonna arrange stuff for the choir I'm in. Hopefully I can do a song by Panic! At The Disco (love them~<3 [him?]) and also write one of my own. Do some... ugh, job searching. *shudders* Play video games and set up my new gaming PC.

However, the big thing for this break is my EP. For those too young to know, an Extended Play, or EP, is basically a short album, like 1/3 the length of a regular album. It's gonna be 5 songs, with 2 already written. Though I've already released two full albums in the form of Birthday Greetings I and II, it's a pretty big project since it's gonna be lyrical and feature live instruments. So all I have left for that is writing 3 songs, recording the demos for all 5 songs, and then actually laying down tracks. VR mgiht close before I release it, but the song I plan to write about VR should be done before then! So that's gonna release here before anything else. Hopefully you guys will check that out, and then download my EP ;P

Otherwise, I'm looking for an artist name to release it under. Something involving turtles and the Beatles. Any suggestions? I'm desperate hahahaha (I really am)

That's all I've got for today. I'll most likely be back tomorrow! Goodnight, everybody!
