I hate to be a downer, but I think that if there were to be a new type, it would have been in the last batch of pokemon.

Also, I really don't think we need a new type. The current system works well enough.

I like the current system but by making a new type some pokemon will finally get a chance to shine! It worked well enough with the steel and dark types.

This. 17 types is enough, and there's nothing that is so completely different that it couldn't fit any of our current types.

Yes. I agree with the other posters that there is no need for new types and that it would be interesting but I really doubt that will happen. There is no room for them and I don't think that it is possible for them to come up with. Maybe mechanical? But other than that there are none that I can think of.

Adding More types makes the game more Confusing.
They've covered enough types to last them this long. So there's no need for new types. Not all combinations of types have been used yet.

Soon, they'll make moves with 2 types. (e.g: Grass/poison)

Steel says hello.

That prettymuch proves the point. There's nothing really that can't fit into another category. Here are some common things found in type-based games:

Wind- Flying
Warrior- Fighting
Wood- Grass
Light- Psychic
Beast- Normal

To name a few. Just sayin'

I've been saying this for years. I completely support this.

Mostly, I see Special Attacks making most of the dual-type moves. But I completely see this happening.

I think that there will be a new one called light. I saw all these starter pokemon before in something supposably a "fake game" the story is about the evil kid from HG and SS. I saw the light attribute thing on that site.

As for light: It's the perfect way to counter dark-type, but there would need to be a type that can overpower it, which I don't see happening.
How about Light and Dark be supereffective against eachother?

I might like having a sound type. We already have the Whismur family and Chatot (and maybe even Jigglypuff) which can be sound-type, about 15 sound-based moves, and Soundproof. They might as well make a sound type. But all the others aren't gonna happen.

2 Things:

1. All of those things belong in one type, because they are all the same thing (besides night, which would be dark).

2. I already covered the reason why there wont be a "space" type - too little of Pokemon that would be in it.

Types have already been covered.

Bird: Flying
Fish: Water
Mechanical: Steel
Shadow: Dark
Light: Psychic
Cyrstal: Rock
Space/Galactic/Cosmic: Psychic.

The only one I can think of is Bomb. But by the looks of the pokemon shown so far, thats negative.

Honestly I wanna see a new type but if Nintendo puts in a new one it's gonna mess up the balance between the original types
