After eliminating Pikaluv1's Ice gym, we received application forms for the vacancy from 3 different members:
Ningamer - Rock Hotblast64 - Grass [TRDRS]PokéTrader - Ghost After careful consideration and analysis of each member's team, the GL staff have finally come to a conclusion: Ningamer has been decided as the new gym leader for a Rock-typed gym. Ningamer has good knowledge in competitive battling, and he made a team which is pretty decent. He's also very active on the forums and is a trusted member. Hotblast's team lacked a lot of basic knowledge about competitive playing, while TRDRS's team had some issues which weren't exactly minor, particularly using inappropriate movesets and directly copying sets and their descriptions from Smogon. This is why both of these users weren't chosen. Anyways, congratulations to Ningamer for becoming a gym leader! Hopefully, the GL staff have made the right choice by picking him. Okay, I searched in Smogon and SPPF, and consulted a friend of mine who is very experienced in competitive battling, and is actually the person who taught me about competitive battling. After all of that for the past two days, I came up with the following decisions:
-Every battle will be conducted at level 100 in order to provide the best kind of moves and strategies, and since official battles are always conducted at level 100. -The clause, SkarmBliss is not allowed in any gym due to the fact that it is a synergy like any other synergy in the metagame and is considered as an unofficial clause. - The clause, Item Clause is not allowed since it unofficial and destroys a lot of reasonable strategies. Most teams, if not all of them, carry multiple of the same items so it is really unreasonable. I would request all gym to follow the three rules I just posted. I will be giving a 24 hours period for the gym leaders to adapt to the new rules. Moreover, if anyone wants to complain about the current rules, then he is more than welcomed to contact any of the GL staff privately to settle down the matter. The Gym League staff unanimously agreed to reduce the number of gyms to 8 only due to the lack of qualified members for the gym leader positions (with all respect to the applicants). Along with Ningamer's resignation of his Rock gym leader position, it has also been decided that Magmaster12's gym shall be eliminated due to its inactivity. With this, all the threads associated has been edited, and the gym badges' page shall be reorganized soon by FreezeWarp.
Note that members who have defeated these gyms but not the others will NOT have their names in the Hall of Fame yet, even if they already have 8 badges now. For example, if a member defeated Ningamer's and Magmaster12's gyms but not Alakazamaster's, and they currently have 8 or 9 badges, then their names will not be recorded in the Hall of Fame. There's a lot to cover in this post, so please read over the following announcements carefully:
1) First and foremost, it is unfortunate that we have to say goodbye to Sunny, the Normal-type gym leader. His inactivity both on the forums and in his gym has lead all the Gym League staff members to unanimously agree on eliminating his gym. Application for the empty spot is now open if you are interested. 2) Instead of allowing the usage of both Shoddy Battle and Pokémon (DISALLOWED) as the official simulators for the Gym League, from now onwards battles will be conducted on Pokémon (DISALLOWED) ONLY. This is because Shoddy Battle is completely outclassed by Pokémon (DISALLOWED), so there's no point in keeping the former. 3) Because of the release of Pokémon Black and White, the Gym League will very soon accept Gen V battles BUT ONLY ON POKémon (DISALLOWED). Before you protest against this decision, please read the following information about the Wi-Fi battles in Pokémon Black and White: Quote:
Quote:
4) Gen V battles will be mandatory for every gym leader. Gen IV battles, on the other hand, are optional: it's up to the gym leader whether he/she wants to allow them in his/her gym or not. 5) It is extremely important to note that, since Smogon did not release the official Gen V metagame yet, Gen V battles will not be held immediately. If Smogon takes too long to establish the new metagame, we will have to create our own OU list to the best of our abilities. 6) Regarding Dream World abilities: only released Dream World abilities will be allowed. Therefore, the official tier for all battles held on Pokémon (DISALLOWED) will be WiFi. 7) Gym leaders will be given a good amount of time to organize themselves for Gen V battles and update their gyms, so there's no need to rush any of them. |

Attention everyone! Smogon has released a preliminary list of the Pokémon, items and abilities that are banned from the OU tier (WiFi tier on Pokémon (DISALLOWED)). Please have a look at it over here:

I am incredibly sorry for delaying the announcement of the new gym leader - school work is piled up on my head and I just can't find enough spare time to go on VR. I will be managing everything about the Gym League next weekend (or maybe before, depends) so please bear with me.

-Because Blues, the Dark-type gym leader, resigned from his gym leader spot, the amount of vacancies in the Victory Road Gym League increased to two. In a surprising twist for the members, two applicants were chosen from the application thread as the new gym leaders instead of just one. Magmaster12 will have another, hopefully better go at a Fire-type gym leader, while Falco will be working on his Ice-type gym. Congratulations to these two members! We'd like to offer our thanks to all the other applicants who tried out for the vacancies, and we wish them the best of luck next time.
-The gym leaders will very soon receive a PM explaining the situation towards and during summer, as well as outlining the way Gen V battles will be conducted. However, due to final exams being around the corner, do not expect the gym leaders to be very active at this time. Hopefully, this will change once summer arrives and Gen V battles start. -As an extension of last time's announcement, please have a look at the following list of OU Pokémon from Smogon: Code:

More word has been given concerning the Victory Road Gym League! Because of a fatal error from yours truly, the Gym League application process faced a slight hiccup, resulting in confusion between applicants, incumbents, and Gym League staff regarding who belongs where, but things have finally been solved!
While originally Falco the Ice-type leader and Magmaster12 the Fire-type leader were going to be added to take the number of Gyms to 8, the fact that Blues the Dark-type leader never truly retired his post means that he will be keeping his Gym, and Ningamer, former Rock-type Gym Leader, will also be instated as a Gym Leader, bringing us to a grand total of 10!' It was decided rather quickly that Nin would be put back into the Gym League because of his previous and rather successful performance as a Gym Leader on Victory Road, and his willingness to once again serve as a Gym Leader. This recent update has been done to prepare for the summer, when the activity of the Gym League is expected to elevate! Indeed, the summer months are the time when Gym Leaders are expected to create Gym teams for the new Generation V metagame, which we all await with bated breath! -Because of The Spirit of Time's unfortunate departure from the forums, his gym has been eliminated upon request. As a result, the number of gyms was reduced to 8 again, with the new layout now established as follows:
Gym #1: Water - Shadow Gym #2: Flying - Alakazamaster Gym #3: Fire - Magmaster12 Gym #4: Ice - Falco Gym #5: Grass - [TRDRS]PokeTrader Gym #6: Psychic - LiteTheIronMan Gym #7: Fight - Ditto616 Gym #8: Dark - Blues -One of the existing Gym Leaders, [TRDRS]PokeTrader, requested to do a type-switch because of the new generation Pokémon/metagame, so don't forget to be on the look-out for that! -As a reward for his contributions towards the Gym League, Ningamer now substitutes The Spirit of Time as the third Gym League staff member! Congratulations to Ningamer on this achievement; he truly deserves it. We wish him the best of luck! Last edited by Shadow; September 4, 2011 at 08:35:14 AM. |

After receiving 10 different applications from hopefuls who wanted to become Gym Leaders, the Gym League staff members have carefully reviewed each team and chose what they believe was the best person to occupy the vacancy. Please welcome the first official female Gym Leader on board: Elaine! She will be the new Electric Gym Leader and with her addition, the Victory Road Gym League will finally have 8 members again. Thanks to all the applicants who didn't make it through; we really appreciate your interest.
Good luck Elaine, and we hope that you will live up to our expectations! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TEASER ANNOUNCEMENT The Victory Road Gym League staff members have been hard at work these days in the effort of renovating the Gym League and keeping members interested in it. When things become finalized, I assure you that you will be in for some cool surprises and changes which will establish a more professional look for the Gym League! Cue the drum roll please, for it is time to announce our newest Gym Leader, as well as another announcement or two!
Though the turnout of applicants was pleasing, only one of the candidates acquired the open Gym spot, and that user is Reuniclus! He is now control of Gym #8, as commander of the Psychic-type. Congratulations!! Reuniclus, go ahead and open up your Gym and be sure to include all necessary information. Next on the list of announcements is a quick bit of information regarding Ningamer. He is NOT an official Gym League operator, so in the future no one need send their teams to him. Our current Gym League operators are Shadow and Alakazamaster. Please be sure to keep this is mind for both applying for Gyms and if you have any questions or comments regarding the Gym League. Ningamer will, however, be assisting in the editing of Gym badges, so he still has some involvement in the League. My final announcement is an add-on to the previously mentioned teaser announcement. Progress is definitely being made in making necessary preparations, and December may be a good time for the Victory Road Gym League... Last edited by Alakazamaster; October 20, 2011 at 01:23:16 PM. |
