I've noticed that Internet Explorer 10 automatically refreshes when it regains network connection if the page load failed due to network issues.

I've had that a couple times. Yoshi once had to install 20 updates with a fairly low battery. They barely scraped by before it died.

3.8 GB of space is good for 74 minutes of good-quality 720p video off my phone. 7 Mbps is a lot for 720p. My phone defaults to 14 Mbps, which is just overkill and saps the storage real fast.

Needless to say, I set the quality to 7 megs, and saved it.

    MPEG-4, how does it work?

As for the laptop thing, it's best that you have at least a laptop with a multi-touch edge-detecting trackpad. All Windows 8 laptops and convertibles have that. Then you could think of it as a tiny touch-non-screen.

Too many crashes. Maybe I'll have better luck with a real laptop. MacBooks are not yet updated for true support for Windows 8 - seems like there's some driver incompatibilty.

I feel like quoting the Microsoft Research report about computer hardware failure, but I'm lazy. Anyway, according to the report, if a storage device reports a failure, the chances of getting a second error within the next month rises at least a hundred times, and then it only goes up from there.

The Old New Thing can be funny in a way.

    Quote:

During the Windows 2000 project, we did something very similar. To test Plug and Play and to test the Driver Verifier, we created the "USB Cart of Death". We started with a 2 level cart similar to what you'd see in a library.

About ten 8port hubs were wired together, and then every port was filled with some different type of USB device. A USB steering wheel adorned the back of the cart, and a USB radio provided the antenna. Two cameras were one the front. All power went to a USB UPS. The entire cart, completely mobile, came down to two cables (power, USB). The final USB cable was plugged into a USB PCMCIA card.

We'd plug in the card into a laptop, watch the OS start up the 50 or so devices on it, and then (before or after it finished) we'd uncerimoneously yank the PCMCIA card. If a blue screen occured or the Driver Verifier detected a bug, the appropriate developer would be asked to look at the machine. In the meantime, the card would be wheeled to the next laptop, in hopes of finding a different bug.
Also, I see that they did try 255 devices at the same time.
