Question Is this normal?

Everybody dreams. Some people see them, some people don't. But I ask you, does anyone in the world have dreams quite like mine? I've asked around at school, on the internet, and other places, even in books about dreams, and I'm starting to think that my dreams aren't like most.

I'll show you some dreams I've had in the past:

POKECOMMUNITY.COM - Paranormal discussion

Oh, I don't even know where to begin. I'll start with the shadow I saw in my bedroom one night.

1: It was a few years ago and I had my night light on (because I was paranoid of the dark). I turned the light switch off (for my main light) as I was going to bed, and I saw an exact shadow of a rat creature from Okage: Shadow King, on the ceiling. Turns out that it was only the light hitting my small fan, but I thought it was weird.

2: They say that an out-of-body experience is a mysterious thing and that only 15-20% of people have had one at some point in their lives. I have them all the time. Half of the time I dream, I see myself from somewhere other than my body. What's even weirder is that in some dreams, I dream that I'm an anthro animal. Once, I even dreamed I was a Pikachu, playing a non-existent version of Heroes of Might and Magic 2.

3: I've had a couple of dreams that seemed so realistic, I thought they were for real.

a: When I used to be into the Pokemon trading card game, I dreamed one night that it was the middle of the day and that I found a Dugtrio card on my bed. I woke up and checked to see if it was there, and it wasn't there.

b: I had a dream when I was 7 about waking up in the exact bed I was sleeping in that night. The time seemed to be exactly the same as it was in real life. I dreamed that vampires were popping up out of nowhere, laughing, and then disappearing. I went to my mom's room to tell her what happened and she gave me a realistic answer "Just go to bed." So I did, and I fell asleep IN MY DREAM. I later dreamed about being in Gauntlet Legends.

c: I dreamed that I was in the house I'm in now. Once again, the time of night seemed to exactly match the time in the real world. Being afraid of the dark, I couldn't get out of my bed for a while, but when I did and walked towards my door, a fountain of white pixels, along with a very familiar game sound caused me to jump. I walked down the upstairs hallway and the same thing happened. I walked downstairs and into the living room, all the way up to the fireplace, and the same thing happened. Then an arrow fired at me. I dodged it and walked towards the Utility Room. Then I saw an illusion of a mummy from Heroes of Might and Magic 2 try to attack me exactly the same way as the game did. Then I walked into the study and the pixel fountain and the sound played. Then mom, dad, and my sister returned home in their car. I tried to explain everything to them, but they didn't believe me (as they would say in real life).

d: I once had a dream where I could use magic in my own house. I was in my bedroom when I found out that I could write magic symbols in thin air. Then I could use different powers. I ran downstairs and showed dad by writing random symbols in the air and then lifting his coffee cup with my mind. My dad, mom, and sister were all amazed, and I suddenly felt like Matilda.

There you have it, some of the weird events that took place in my life. And no, I'm not on drugs.
Redwall's Legacy - Dream discussion

I remember having a dream at 14 years of age about waking up in a haunted version of my house. The sky was completely black and there was a huge clay cylindrical object in my yard. I began to feel different from what I feel normally. So I looked down and I discovered that I had brown fur all over my body. My leg shape had changed and I had a long tail. I was also wearing a strange green article of clothing similar to a robe. I commented to myself and discovered that I had Matthias's voice. I thought it was kind of neat to be talking in a voice other than my own.

After the few initial minutes of vocal fun, I decided to investigate the huge object in my yard, which clearly did not belong there. I walked closer towards the dark shadow of the object. I peered more closely into it, which angered the creature that was living inside. A black, shadowy thing that had horns similar to a Satyr. Its eyes were glowing yellow. It raised its claw and tried to scratch me, but it missed. It then vanished back into the shadows.

I decided to back away from the unexplained occurrence and went into my house. It seemed very different on the inside than on the outside. The room that was supposed to be the kitchen was five times larger, with a small stream running through the center. The only colors I could see were blue, purple, and black. I decided to look at what had happened to my kitchen more closely.

I walked up to the stream and I could see something moving about in the water. Bubbles were rising from it. A few seconds later, an otter with eyes that were completely blue and glowing rose out of the water. It just stood there for a moment, motionless, until it punched me in the face and ducked back into the water. I was not injured, but confused as to what had happened.

I decided to quickly get out of the room before another attack happened. I went through a doorway, somewhere to the far right of the room, and entered what looked to be a kitchen of sorts. The only things that were lit were two counters and a pile of red rags, sitting on top of a third counter. I hid in the shadows until what looked to be Cornflower morphed out of the rags. She had red, glowing eyes, and judging by the way she looked left and right before morphing back into the rags, she was looking for something.

I slowly approached the counter with the rags. I stood there for about a minute and then suddenly, she grabbed me by the chest and pulled me into a dark rift. I was teleported to a three-way intersection, with one of the passageways leading to a room full of lava. I decided to go into that room. When I looked across the lava and saw a window on the other side, a fox rose out of the lava and tried to scratch me, eyes glowing red just like Cornflower's.

The dream ended after I exited the room.

I once had a dream about entering Matthias's burial site. Really complex and strange.

I woke up on a hill outside a strange building that was made of orange stone. It was square or rectangular in shape. The sky was purple and the moon was full (like in most Redwall dreams). I walked up to the building's entrance and went inside. The minute I stepped in, there was an explosion behind me which knocked me over. Then a pulse of energy fired at me. My body glowed until it turned completely white and began to change shape.

I said "strange" and noticed that I had Cornflower's voice. I looked down at myself and sure enough, I was wearing her clothing. I was a mouse. It was kind of eerie, but eventually I had fun saying things with her voice. When I was finished, I began to walk down the passage to the right. Then I saw a distant figure approach me quickly. I began to see that it was the ghost of Matthias, charging at me with his battle cry. I braced myself for him, but the minute he was about to strike, he disappeared.

I walked down the maze of passageways. There was no roof to this building. When I turned a corner, the ghost of Matthias suddenly appeared in front of me, turned around and struck at me with his sword. Nothing. I wasn't injured. The sword didn't seem to touch me, although I was sure it did.

Eventually, I reached the center of the burial site, with Matthias's casket inside, surrounded by flowers. The ghost appeared again, but this time, he asked me what was wrong. I told him I was lost. He then showed me the way out, through an opening in one of the walls and then the dream ended.

I once had a dream about a pyramid in the middle of a forest at night.

I woke up in the middle of a forest that seemed to be densely covered in trees. It was nighttime, the sky was purple, and the moon was full. I felt physically different from my usual self, so I looked down to see if anything had happened to me. It didn't take me long to realize that I was an otter. I had no upper clothing, but I did wear a pair of green shorts-like clothing.

Immediately in front of me was a pyramid. The bricks were colored yellow, like most pyramids. I went up to the top of the stairs and tried to open the stone double doors. It was difficult, but I managed to open them. I went inside and everything was dark, but not too dark. I could see everything just fine. I went down the long staircase until I reached a room that branched off into hallways in almost every direction. There was a blue fire burning in a metal dish about the size of a king-size bed. The strange thing about the fire was that the flames were traveling upwards at half the speed of a normal fire and that they seemed to travel in a wavy motion.

I looked to my right and saw a light at the end of the long corridor. I went down the hallway and turned left. Then I went up a sh0rt staircase. What I didn't know was that there was a trap door in the middle of the hallway.I fell through it, but slowly floated down to the floor. After I landed, the trapdoor closed and sealed itself with iron bars.

I was in a narrow hallway. I walked down to the end, listening to ghostly noises along the way. When I reached the end, I was at a room that branched off into three directions. There was a depression in the floor in the center of the room. As soon as I came close, colorful, serpent-like creatures appeared out of nowhere. They began to approach me. After a moment, one of them shot a lightning bolt at me, but it was slow enough that I dodged it.

When they began to come close, I heard voices, coming from the hallway on the right. Soon, a badger, a hare, and two mice emerged from the dark hallway, each of them carrying a weapon. One of the mice escorted me out of the building, while the battle was happening. As soon as we left the pyramid, he told me to be more careful. After that, he asked me for my name.

I was about to answer when the dream ended.

Don't mind me but have you ever consider consulting a psychiatrist? It might help.

I think you get too involved in the games you play, maybe that is the reason of your weird 'game dreams'.

Actually, I think the dreams are pretty cool. But you're right, I'm a computer game freak. And I do have a psychiatrist, but the dreams aren't disrupting my life.

How? Sure, dreams can affect my life. Look at the creator of Twilight. She made her story from a dream (or so I've heard).

I have all sorts of weird dreams. I think your dreams are perfectly normal! Like once, I dreamt that if I stood on my doormat and crouched (Castlevania 2 reference?) then I'd turn in to a rat. I then went exploring my house, running along pipes and such. I met a fat, ginger cat and then we went exploring some more. I went in to my attic, went down a pipe and appeared on somewhere like Mars... That's all I can remember. But it was weird. o_O

Seriously, dreams are things that can't be fully understood. They are a completely different world. Also, this thread doesn't provide any topic to discuss about. Do you want us to tell you, "Yea! You have abnormal dreams!" I am serious about it. I wanted this Debate section to provide to the members a place where they can debate on topics. I am sorry, but if you can't choose better topics, then I have to lock this thread.

EDIT: The thread got moved.

I would suggest that you search up "Lucid dreams" on Wikipedia. This fits your descriptions.

I've had many of those out-of-body dreams, and the realistic dreams. The thing is though, I don't have dreams often, but when I do they're odd.

I've commonly had both Lucid dreams and OBE dreams when I was younger: remember, OBE dreams are not the same thing as OBEs: OBEs only occur during severe mental or physical trama, as opposed to really anything in a dream, which is quite common.

Lucid dreams I remember having nightly, though I don't any more. I'm guessing both of these boil down to your Asperger's, as that would be common link between your experiences and mine.

I had a Lucid dream YESTERDAY. I was at Ying's Wings and Things (a franchise inside of my state) for a karaoke contest I'm ACTUALLY ENROLLED IN. The area was renovated (it usually has a different layout than the last time I go there) and a man using an old CarnEvil (an old arcade shooter that they have a copy at there) told me I had to leave (they were excluding me because I had been there 4 times in a row, every week on the night of the contest which lasts throughout summer) and that they won't serve me because the last time was the first time I actally ORDERED anything (my chaperone is usually my broke aunt, but that time it was my almost-broke mom).

My dreams are a lot like yours, but some are way stranger.

Once I had dreamt that I was in the living room at daytime and every time I got near a piece of furniture it got some freaky clown face and evil laughs

Another time I was dreaming I woke up and went out to the garden to see my mom, and some white ghostly figures were walking around.

I also dreamed I woke up to get some water, when I got it, I went to bed and had to go to the bathroom so I got up again, this time a red hand came from under my bed and grabbed my leg. I freaked and ran to the bathroom and it was nowhere near. I walk out and it is still there. I run to my parents room and get in the bed. I wake up for real in my parents room.

Weird, huh?

I tend to have similar dreams.

But then again I haven't been able to remember most of my dreams for the past few years...
