And I know for a fact that luxray isn't based off any kind of dog. Its first evolutions form "shinx" is based on a "lynx" from the feline family. Luxray its self is a lion. |

Oriental-style dragons I know Dragonair and Rayquaza sorta count, but we don't have any maned, whiskered, serpent-bodied dragons yet despite Pokémon being based in Japan rather than the western world.
Also there is a lack of Cambrian-era jelly critters. I know Anorith counts there but I'd really like to see a Pokémon based off of Hallucigenia, as I would like to see more present-day deep sea fish like the tripod fish or hagfish. |

There are actually two lions.
Entei is somehow a lion.Or at least I think Entei is, I heard from someone nintendo stated it was, but I think it fits a dog more easily. And lopuny is a snowshoe rabit. Coral snakes arent. |

Krikitune might be a praying mantis...? (someone posted praying mantis)
Anthough it's name suggest Cricket, it doesn't look anything like one... I want to see an animal based off of the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa (breed of fish native to hawaii) |

I think Doduo and Dodrio are supposed to be ostrich-like. I don't think there's a peacock pokemon, and they're could be more fish based off of tropical fish with interesting coloraions, they're all just blue or pink. I'm also pretty sure there isn't a vulture pokemon.

That is obviously a praying mantis. Btw, if someone already said this: Thread was TL; DR. |
