Default Weird question about the GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable.

So, I finally got XD, and I have emerald so I've decided that I should get the cable thingy that links the two. But the only "compatible" hand-held I have for the cable is a GBASP that had a broken screen >__>;;

So my question is, in order to connect the two is there a lot of menu navigation involved? Because I'll have to do it 'blind' to make it connect. D':

Just wondering before I try and buy one of those cables.

Typically, it's just a few simple prompts. First, you'll get "Connect the GCN-GBA cable to the GameCube and Game Boy Advance." Then you turn the GBA on. Then it should say it's connecting.
