Default Grottoes

Once you get to Route 5, Bianca teaches you about hidden grottoes between the trees.

Has anyone found anything good in the grottoes yet? Here's what I found so far:

Route 5: Minccino
Lostlorn Forest: Great Ball

I've been to 5 grottoes as of now. I found a Mincinno, Nosepass, and Seviper from them so far. The rest of them had items such as shards, Pokeballs, mulch, or healing items. (I don't even know what you're supposed to do with mulch in this game )
From what I understand, finding a Pokemon in the grottoes is rare. Items are very common whether they are hidden items or not.

Well, I got the obvious first-time Grotto gift, the Minccino. While I don't remember what I got, I remember seeing one in Lostlorn Forest and Route 23 (In the JP version of course.) It was some useless healing item, though. Nothing interesting like a Dream World Pokémon :/

Wait, do the grottoes re-supply every day, or are these a one-time thing?

Every day. I've been to the one on Route 5 about 2 or 3 times. Looking for a Pokémon and then giving up. :I

As for what I've found (that I can remember, anyway), I got the Minccino, a Leavanny in Lostlorn forest, a couple of Potions, a Pokeball, and a hidden tinymushroom.

The route 5 one just regenerated with Gooey Mulch, and indeed, it has been only a few hours.

First time I went into all of them, I only found a bunch of Mulches, some random beginners items and a Watchog.

I going through them again and so far I've found a Thunder Stone, Zangoose and a Foongus. Fongus' overworld sprite is also a pokeball so I was actually expecting an item.

I later found Corsola. Sneasal, and Marill.

Indeed, the rate for a Grotto recharging is a 5% chance per 256 steps. The odds of finding things are 40% for a visible item, 40% for a hidden item, and 20% for a Pokémon. All Pokémon from a Grotto is guaranteed to have its Hidden Ability, but the game is very stingy on how many females it gives out (the odds are always 70/30 unless the gender ratio is off balance; Skitty has a 70% chance of appearing female, but Combee only has a 5% chance). Also, once a Grotto rechrges, the contents within it are set; you can't reset to change what's inside.

Mulches can be sold to a breeder on the Mistralton City runway for 1000 Pokédollars apiece.

Also, so far I've found a few various items, the Minccino on Route 5, and a Seviper on Route 7.

I think I may have found the same Liepard earlier today.

Other than that, just a bunch of mulch and mushrooms.

Does anyone know if it is possible to soft reset for genders of the Pokemon in the Hidden Grottoes?

Once you take the 200-and-something-ith step, the item/Pokemon you will find is set and cannot be changed through soft reset...

Every 256 steps, for each empty grotto, there is a 5% chance something will be generated. I don't believe you can soft reset for anything after it is set.

Embarrassed to say I've only found two. I guess I'll start looking!

Hm, for some reason, I've been missing one of the grottoes for a while. Is there any way to see which ones you found without going through all of them?

Got the Bibarel with Moody on Route 3, although it's one of the more common ones.

I just checked the Route 3 grotto that requires Surf and got a Dawn Stone. Not a bad find, especially after most of the obvious ones just give out Mulch. I think most of the out-of-the-way ones include better items.

Nope, there is not. The grottoes are just extensions of the routes themselves. I know you're doing this for the medal, I'm just gonna run through the whole region searching for every grotto I can find. And if I don't get my medal... Nyeh.

Yep, I'm doing it for the medal. I'm willing to bet it's one I passed right by while not looking for them.

After searching high and low and using about twenty Super Repels, I found every...single...grotto and got the medal. Some of them wanted to troll me and give me some form of Repel in return. Thanks, like I need more of those. The rest contained uncommon Pokémon, and I managed to add Pachirisu to the 'dex. I already had most of the others, like Seviper, Amoongus, and Liepard (all with hidden abilities).
