Its either a yes, or no. Also, i haven't gotten any errors since last week. But if the errors do continue to happen very frequently, we should just move. Last edited by Quadcentruo; March 1, 2010 at 11:05:02 AM. Reason: Rage |

How about this: Every time there is an error when we log in, we write down the time, location we're in (I.E.: Sowthwest florida), And what the error states in a .txt file. Then, we copy and paste it at the end of the month to posts in an error counting thread, and we count the errors. If they reach a certain number, then we move.
It's a bit of work, but I'd say it would be worth it. |

Not really. I've been waiting for the errors EST lately and I find the errors happen ABOUT 12:00 am EST. Whoever says no move is either in 2 categories:
1. The ones who are either sleeping or not online during errors. OR 2. The ones who have no idea what a database error is. o_O |

I am all for a move, so if it comes to that, we will be moving. But it has to be decided soon as to give us time to make sure the move worked. We don't want to pay for two months on the new host and the old host at the same time.

*I apologize for my next blunt statement*
Why do you care if it's too much work? o.O. Cat and KingofKYA do all the server work. If you really want to help him, suggest ideas and maybe different server hosts instead of having a "un-optimistic" attitude towards this. Once again, sorry for the blunt statement. It just irritates me that we don't have a more supportive attitude. |

What date will the new move be on? The way I see it, we would be far better off to get it out of the way before March 14, since the site will likely get plenty of traffic then, or, barring that, to have the move a fair amount of time after.

Its worth noting that the errors are trackable; you simply need to write to a text file or otherwise trigger a log when a 503 occurs (see CI's 404 and 403 pages). The same thing can be done with any error as long as PHP is still being processed (which may or may not be true).

You mean the server was down or just that MySQL died (the latter only existing when you visit the Forums, not Floatzel.net or Crystal Islands, except for the Pokedexes, Topsites, and PokeAdoptables). |

That part happens frequently, though.

Another important bump. Warning: all-caps.
FIVEBEAN, YOU SUCK! 57% UPTIME DOES NOT SHOW A GOOD HOSTING COMPANY. YOUR OVERSELLING IS TERRIBLE, YOUR RELIABILITY IS AWFUL, AND I DON'T EVEN WANT TO KNOW HOW BAD PEOPLE WITH BUSINESSES ON YOUR SERVER HAVE IT! Yes, that 57% is accurate. That's the uptime for yesterday. Today's uptime, given the server will be up for the rest of the day, is already at 70%. |
