Considering the fact you live in the middle of a dessert I'm not surprised. I kid. My dad always wants to go fishing with me, but I have a short attention span, I have a lot of trouble just sitting still in the same place for a long period of time. So as you can imagine fishing is just really boring for me. That and I don't like eating fish that much. |

All jokes aside, although the place here is a desert, the Persian Gulf is surprisingly rich in different kinds of fish, sharks, crustaceans and clams. Actually, the fishing industry in this country is the best primary industry second to only oil mining and growing dates.

I'm not entirely sure why, but I have been majorly sick the past 5 days. Sucks I have four eight hour shifts for the next couple days since I took the next week off. Problem is today my voice was almost gone, in fact I'm at a barely whisper now, I fear it's going out completely tomorrow...
Why do I always seem to get sick when my luck starts turning around... |

My Biology summer school was cancelled because not enough people are taking this course.
Here are some shocking, non-sugar-coated facts about me: 1. In most of the Pokemon forums I am in, over 90% of my posts are in General Discussion and Technology sections, not Pokemon sections. 2. When I retook my Pokemon Purity Test, my score has been halved compared to my score 4 years ago. In 2008, my score was 35%, now, my score is 17%. 3. My work habit actually declined after I entered Canadian school systems. In China, I have homework everyday. 4. My sleep schedule has been changed. In 2005, I can wake up at 6AM. Today (literally today and yesterday and last week), I entered sleep at 4AM and woke up at 12PM. |

I watched Ice Age 4 a while ago, mainly because I watched the other 3 movies when I was a kid and I want to see what happens next. It had its funny moments, but as expected, the plot was focused to entertain children, so at my age, we would find it predictable.
Yesterday was the finals of the Euro 2012 in football, or I guess you guys call it soccer? It was quite exciting. I cheered for Spain (cheering for it since 2008) and thankfully, it won 4-0 against Italy. I am quite pleased. On another note, I have to start studying for my SAT... |

In regards to movies, there doesn't seem to be a lot this summer that I'm interested in seeing, other than perhaps Brave simply because I love me some Pixar. I may see Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter simply because of the premise, but other than that I haven't seen previews for much that tickles my fancy. |

I'm having mixed feelings bout The Amazing Spider-Man. Spider-Man is my favorite superhero, but Tobey Maguire is the only face of Spider-Man I'd like to recognize. But the gigantic fan in my heart is making it hard to resist.
But The Dark Knight Rises is a definite must see. The Joker might've been the king of the last movie, but Joker or not, it's gotta be good. |

Today, my parents didn't go to work because of Canada day, so I'm forced to interact with them and eat their horrible lunch: In food, I throw away ALL of these:
1. dried tomato (new on the list) 2. meatballs (they gross me out) 3. minced meat 4. spaghetti with that type of sauce (I told them to never make them again, and I'm ready to waste them next time they make them) 5. the fat, jelly part of meat, in Chinese it is "肥肉" (my mortal hate) 6. beef 7. pork When I'm pouring the sauce, my mom keep worrying me pouring too much, so she always tells me to stop. I tell MYSELF to stop! I have the concept of "static silence" and "dynamic silence", and I feel best for the silence of my parents at work and I'm at home |

My chess rating dropped estimated 200~400 points because I long time no playing chess.
I thought that chili sauce is a magic sauce to all foods, but it only work to rice. I endured that type of spaghetti and I'm going to throw away a box of unopened spaghetti and Alfredo & Roasted Garlic sauce into the garbage can tomorrow. I have tried to intercept shopping carts by removing items I don't like while they were shopping, but that did not work. Last edited by SpaceMan++; July 3, 2012 at 05:53:06 PM. |

Bye bye, 1kg of spaghetti. The alfredo sauce is gone, but I spared that 900g unopened pasta.
Next time when they cook spaghetti, I say can't eat them and I will save them for lunch, and I will dump them next day. Sleep schedule: It can only be improved over courses of 3 days, not 1 night |

I'm only at 460. It's not much of an achievement, but it's an accomplishment for me. In 2 years I've only made about 200 posts on this forum, but in the 4 MONTHS I've been back, I've managed to score almost 300 more than that.

Speaking of ghost stories, this one is true and has happened in my village more than 50 years ago.
My village lays on the top of a high mountain. Down the slop and towards the valley is a huge boulder, which has a name in our village and is very well-known as a meeting place. At that time, people feared approaching it after sunset, claiming that devils and ghosts would appear there at night. There was a man, who was considered to be the bravest in the village. His ego made him dare everyone that he would spend the night there. He took a wooden rod to anchor it next to the boulder as a mark for his arrival. The next morning, they found him dead in shock. |

Something happened to that man, that's for sure. What I concluded is that he died out of fear. Since the story happened decades ago, they weren't as progressive in medicine, and so couldn't name his cause of death. But today, I believe we can say he died due to a heart attack. For someone to be in shock and get a heart attack, he must have been afraid of something.

I am complaining about my mom and food again, but my mom told me to practice English during the summer so I am doing it right now by writing this.
It is the same time again, where my mom stuffs my head with useless information and her useless ideology. I'm complaining about my mom because my mom said I should spend the summer practicing in English. I don’t know if I should do anything academic in the summer, because I only have 2 summers left, and I must seize the day, but on the contrary, university is looming. It all began with a game of Bittermelon Chicken. Today's dinner is vegetable, beef and vegetable, which I consider them the monotonous, the disgusting and the impossible respectively. It is hopeless since we just ran out of “magic sauce”. The game began with one minute of silence, which I quickly finished up the “monotonous” vegetable and ate some rice. I have learned my lesson: Vegetable is not the worst food kids negotiated against. They are simply boring to eat. Then, the sitting turns into a stalemate. I cannot advance by eating further, and to dump food, my mom must be clear of the path from my seat to the garbage can. To use force, my dad must be clear of the kitchen. Therefore, the dinner table froze like No Man’s Land. Thousand pieces of information went through my head. I can keep waiting until they leave, or, I can go back to my room for a while. I decided the latter. After staying for about 5 minutes, my mom nagged me back to the dinner table, which put me into another frozen moment. After several minutes of indecision, I slowly rotated the dinner plate into the position, legs preparing to move, and my mind makes one last thought: The consequence is only her getting angry and losing her life expectancy. Therefore I speedwalked to the garbage can and got rid of the “disgusting” and “impossible”, then went back to my room. I have been practicing the art of dumping food since Grade 1. In Grade 1, I have never finished any lunch provided by school. The teacher’s permission is required to dispose of the food. I and my friends have attempted many tactics such as compressing the food to make it appear smaller. What is as bad as the experience of disposing food is negotiating for vegetable, where bargaining and fairness are key skills. I dumped the garbage, swept the floor and moved back to the room. I thought everything is over, and then my mom came to my room: The lecture began. I did not remember anything about what she said, because I knew she repeated the same thing: how harsh the society is and why I am lucky, family values, one child policy, spoiling, east vs. west, scholarship, stories about immigrants, and stories about any other Chinese female high school students who did better than me. I was facing back toward my mom, only worrying about her crossing the Off Limits Line, and in my brain, there were information about tangent space and adding vectors. I did not answer any questions except “Are you still bad mouthing me on the Internet?”. I answered “No”. A person who is lying and indoctrinating does not deserve the truth. Then she left, and came back to me a moment later, and she began reciting the same stories about the hardships about herself and her friends. If I have time, I have a story for her: A Chinese student killed her mom for forcing him to study. Guess what? Screw your eastern family values. I am now going to give my mom money after I grew up and she will die alone, after their marriage collapse due to an argument over taxes. Then she left, and I overheard her starting an argument between herself and my dad about salaries, taxes and overworking(note: I reserve the word “dad” for my mom’s current husband and “father” for my biological father. All 3 current family members in my family have different last names, and it is caused by divorce). For them, arguments about taxes and my dad working on Saturday are virtually daily routines. Arguments keep my mom in check so I can stay in my room peacefully. I wonder what kept their relationship together. I know my mom married a Canadian because she wanted a better deal on immigration. Now the peace is restored and I am writing this post, which is around 800 words long. Checking the clock, I realized my mom robbed 2 or 3 hours of time. Now I can join my friend’s party where they spit out a large volume of profanity complaining about almost everything. |

I understand that the divorce between your parents and having such a complicated family issues, along with immigration problems, can stress you out and causes you to be in a bad mood most of the time, but what you have narrated is no different from any other mum. You just admitted yourself that university is approaching, and so, you have to prepare yourself. I am like you, although it is summer, I am studying Mathematics and English for my college and SAT. Many people are like that. You are not a kid any more, going to school in winter, and then enjoying summer. You need to realise that as you grow up, you start getting more responsibility, and summer will not remain as enjoyable as when you were a kid. If your mother is asking you to study, then do it, because she is telling you what is right, and this is an advice from someone who is in your age group and has experienced what you just talked about. As for the food, I am sorry to say it, but you don't have the right to be disgusted or talk about food as if it is a piece of crap. First of all, what do you expect to eat? Everyone eats either beef, mutton, chicken or vegetables for launch or dinner. Then, think about those who never get any food. Despite being a teenager, and not liking many dishes, I am against disposing off food to garbage. It is a disrespect to those who are starving and the one who prepared the food. If you hate it so much, save it for birds and cats, that's what I do. But it seems the food issue is not a big deal. It is caused by your anger. You are angry at your eastern culture and your parents' divorce that you are banging everything with it; food and education. Try to soothe yourself, and I advise you to change your friends, since they are influencing you with their similar attitude. Try to befriend people of the same country you are staying at (Canada or U.S), as it will draw you closer to the new culture and you might lose your anger gradually. That is my advice, and by the way, I am an expatriate for 10 years, so I understand how hard it is to face a different culture. |

You got quite lucky with that shiny Donphan. My first shiny was a Zubat in Emerald. Come to think of it, the only random shinies that I've gotten were that Zubat, a Tentecruel and Bibarel in Platinum, and a Geodude in Crystal. The rest of the shiny pokemon that I have were obtained through the pokeradar in Platinum.

My first shiny was a Claydol in Emerald. I also found a shiny Geodude for my friend in FireRed. I also found a shiny Whismur in Emerald but accidently made it faint. And I found another shiny Geodude for my self in Emerald and it used self-destruct. -_-

You all are so lucky. My first shiny was a disgusting spider that I'm afraid of, and I had to get rid of it right away. My second shiny was a shiny Shelmet with a speed boosting nature, so I guess that makes up for it.

So I have chemistry and physics study materials ready for the summer. There are chemistry summer homework. In last year's chem summer work, I didn't pay any effort into it, but this year, paying effort and actually comprehending the material means better performance at Grade 12.
The good thing about chem summer work is that I must type the answers out on Word, and everything are Internet-connected, but I don't know if buying a domain for just 3 Weebly pages is a waste of money. For Physics, I get a preview of what is going to be taught next year, I just got hang of fluid dynamics. I don't forget math, chem and physics during the summer, but I forgot biology, earth science and social studies, and it seems I always forget the techniques of writing essay after the summer. For going back to China, my mom think it is possible. Last edited by SpaceMan++; July 6, 2012 at 11:33:16 AM. |

This Monday I have plans to go to The Calgary Stampede, as well as other days... I hope there will be some pokemon plushes much like previous years. I actually can't wait. Unfortunately the chuckwagon races got sold out... it was kinda like a family thing for my family getting to see it every year... But I guess there's nothing that can be done about that. Aw well, we got next year.

I pretty have to buy every single one of my PC games digitally from now on. Convenience, and not having location constraints for the most part. Just have to remember not to blow the card thorough!
As for plushies, I seem to never be able to get any Pokemon plushies. From all the shops that I have went to... They do have plastic figures, though. |

So right now, I'm replaying through Pokemon Heartgold and I'm trying to use the original team I had in Gold, but with a full team of 6. So far I have a Bayleef (Which I named Fubab ) and a Zubat (man this guy is tough to raise). I do plan to get a Lapras and a Kadabra (Possibly Alakazam if anyone wants to have a wifi trade with me). Overall I'm feeling excited to relive my childhood. ^^

It wasn't useful for you? I just used Zubat to clear Bugsy's gym because it learned Wing Attack Zu/Gol/Crobat might also be useful against Chuck. After learning Bite and Wing Attack, Zubat became a strong member of my team. It's also quite fun to use in a pinch. =D

Even though it was about 4:30 PM, I decided to make an omelette. And boy, it was a GOOD one. I think it was the best one I've ever made. No rips, no collapses, and no major disasters happened while I was cooking it. It must've been the BW2 music I was listening to.

I'm thinking about setting my music interests back a few more years in time to the age of the popular smooth jazz and blues. After listening to My Favorite Things for a while, I felt like I wanted more of that.
